What I thought is that the thread is really all about Netflix banning bitcoin specific ads but I've come to realize that whenever I watch a series or a movie through Netflix, there's really no ad at all. But if they're going to make that model with their new feature then, it's totally fine. And for Indonesia, AFAIK, they're also too sensitive with digital things. They have banned Steam and other gaming platforms on their country. Is Netflix a supporter of bitcoin? I don't think so, so them banning? not a big deal.
I think no one knows but they've got some documentaries that has the topic about bitcoin/crypto.

Ok, I agree with some of the suggestions for a title change. I understand that the first title was a bit annoying, but it shouldn't be now. Nice, I think its the best thing to do if you really want to create thread and you should be open to suggestions. Think of a proper title and discussion so many people will want to share their thoughts in your thread, so now I think that's good enough. Regarding Netflix's plans to ban crypto or bitcoin ads and more ads, I haven't actually gotten an official announcement from Netflix yet. I searched for some news online, but I didn't get a single statement about ad ban. Maybe this is just the planning stage as their first step to working with Australian advertising companies.

Mother left her child. Mother left her child unattended for a minute.
Do you see the difference OP?
I appreciate the attempt to correct the title but it still looks weird. It's not grammatical. Should be something like "Netflix bans crypto ads", not "Netflix bans ads bitcoin or crypto", as it displays now. The second one makes it hard to understand what it really bans: ads, bitcoin, crypto or all together.

After all the months i've been watching netflix then i dont see any ads and whenever they do talk about banning bitcoin ads? Well so be it.We arent seeing it on the first place. Cant be sure if this one would really affect overall recognition but just let them be.They can ban all they want yet adoption would really be something that cant be stopped. Each country does have its set of rules and laws whether it would be ending up going into the positive side or going into negative. We cant really just stop them on doing on what things that they do have into their minds.

Well, based on what I've read, they're going to reconstruct their subscription features and maybe that will include some ads popping or some banners on the website while watching. I haven't seen the whole details about it but maybe like the ads showing when you're watching on YT without any adblocker. They've lost a lot of subscribers for the past year as per notatether so that's basically where they're going to milk some profits to at least recover and that will be through ads.

Netflix is going through such a rough time they are alledgedly launching a paid service plan which is supposed to be cheaper than the usual plans but still they expect people to bear advertisement. They are going downhill since they told their shareholders to expect an increase of subcriptions even after quarantine measures started to get lifted. Source: Google Finance Not sure what you think, to me it sounds like a bad idea.

Netflix or any other company they are free to accept bitcoin as a payment method or suspend any activities related to cryptocurrencies on their platforms but this will not change anything in the world of cryptocurrencies for the long term what they can do is just make decisions for their own company, in this case, they suspending crypto in their steaming services. What they are doing is a complete failure because just after bitcoin shows a positive face and used for human right foundation Netflix made this decision and this can have bad effects on their reputation.

When the Bitcoin price was below $20k, there was an information banning Bitcoin and advertising related to crypto by Netflix. Spontaneously I was surprised and the question arises "what's with all this?"
I don't seem to comprehend Netflix's decision to take the opposite tack when organizations like Microsoft, Paypal, Esty, Starbucks, AT&T, and others support bitcoin. Even more businesses are attempting to use bitcoin to draw in customers and clients. There must be an issue somewhere. What frightens them? I think there's more going on here than what first appears. They must have something planned, and I have no doubt that it will shortly come to light.

Hey mate I think Facebook already done that long ago, I don't know if Twitter has such anti Bitcoin ads law but am sure Facebook stopped Bitcoin/cryptocurrency related ads if am not mistaking in December 2018/2021 Facebook made such move to ban crypto ads. But still, after the ban, Bitcoin make it to an all-time high of 69k. so it is what it is man! Read Facebook advertising policy news here: https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-42881892

Netflix is even worse than that, it's rumored they have lost 970k paid subscribers and in that situation releasing ad subscriptions is not the best solution to fix things even though they will financially benefit from ad subscription program to be released in november, so apart from banning crypto ads there are some Other prohibited categories: 1. Pharmaceutical advertisement (still being considered) 2. Product advertisement selling products for children Prohibiting crypto ads has to do with regulatory oversight, so I think if the regulations change then banning crypto ads will be considered, but btw they have documentaries about crypto

The title is very extreme and also this really spreads another FUD. I have read the news fully about Netflix banning advertisements related to crypto. But actually, it is not only about crypto but also all advertisements related to gambling and politics, too. This is related to the audiences of Netflix itself and they want to make children-friendly watcehs. According to other local sources, it was reported that Netflix has decided that it shall not accept advertisement campaigns that were attached to cryptocurrencies, gambling, and even politics and not be included in this subscription tier. The advertisements which shall not be included also include campaigns related to products that target children. source: https://bitcoinist.com/netflix-wont-allow-crypto-ads-heres-why/I am sure that this news will not exactly bring big effect to Bitcoin or cryptocurrency in general

Did you check their Resident Evil series? A complete disaster if you ask me, it does not help either the fact they want to get rid of shared accounts so aggresively after they allowed it for years and years, but anyways I dont want to derail this thread any further. I am not quite sure what is wrong about advertising products for children on their app, I can understand that pharmaceitical drugs are not supposed to be pushed on the people through ads, it does not sound quite ethical in my opinion.

I feel like Netflix will need all the advertisements it can get, they seem to continue to make bad choices which causes them to loss subscribers. I used to have Netflix, but I haven't had it for years now. I felt they kept removing the old shows I loved, and were adding new ones which I basically had no interest in. I believe Heist was a Netflix original? That's probably the last one I liked. Other than that, I felt their production has gone down since.
I don't know what the reason is for them banning Bitcoin exactly, but I'm sure they'll go along the path of it not being eco friendly, and therefore had too stop advertisements. Didn't Netflix host one of the popular Bitcoin documentaries? Anyone know if that was removed?

In my opinion, they failed to adapt to the market, considering the number of streaming platforms that have appeared in the last few years and have become serious competition. I personally have several streaming services and I don't want to advertise any of them, but I will say that the one that currently has the LOTR series in its offer really has a much better offer of movies and series than Netflix. As @TelolettOm nicely quoted, it's not that Netflix has something against Bitcoin, but they simply don't want to advertise such things through their platform, along with gambling and politics. A lot of scammers would take advantage of this, and users would then point the finger at Netflix because they lost money because of the advertisement that service showed them. As for Bitcoin documentaries, I only watched one about QuadrigaCX (Trust No One) a few months ago, but I'm not sure it's still available - because Netflix often removes content after a while, although it might be related to different regions - so what is available in the US is not in the EU or vice versa.

They've also put prices up, and I know there was a lot of issues with account sharing which they said they'd crack down on. I was already away from Netflix at that point though. I got sick, and tired of watching a show, and then them removing it. Yeah, I did understand that they don't want to advertise it, along with a few other things. However, I'd love to be a fly on the wall to actually know the reasons. I understand with politics, since that can cause controversies, but is Bitcoin that controversial? Scamming is an issue I suppose, but they'll advertise fiat based companies, which could potentially scam you. I mean big companies seem to get away with it all the time. I've seen how the big companies pretty much scam the smaller companies out of money, and it usually goes unpunished. This is especially true with limited companies in the UK. I never watched whatever documentary was on Netflix since I didn't have it, but I'm pretty sure they had one on Netflix. I'm only interested since they've also banned political advertisements, I wouldn't expect they remove political movies/documentaries, but if they've removed that documentary about Bitcoin is that simply because it was part of their routine removal schedule or because they don't want anything Bitcoin on their platform. I'm just curious, I'm not trying to put the tin foil hat on.

Netflix has ads? What the hell? Isn't it a paid-only service? Do people pay, and do the same people watch ads?
Just read the responses below. So, it's part of their new strategy. No surprise, Netflix has to gain some growth now that Disney+ surpasses it.
As for Netflix banning crypto exchanges' advertisements (as "banning crypto" is a known nonsensical phrase), no problem. We're full of "Crypto.com", "Binance" and "Kraken" everywhere. I don't mind. In fact I feel it's better if we had less possible "investors" from the sofa, which is the majority of Netflix users who'd click on such ads.

Thanks for sharing the link to the source article. Citing local sources, The Sydney Morning Herald reported Monday that Netflix has decided to reject all advertising campaigns related to politics, gambling and cryptocurrency on its new subscription tier. The new tier will also not run ads selling products to children. The same sources indicated that restrictions on pharmaceutical ads were also being considered.
And from what I read, it clearly shows it wasn't only crypto/Bitcoin ads that was banned from Netflix's intending new ads feature planned to go live soon due to reasons best known to them because as a company they have the right to choose what and what not to advertise on it's streaming service. Netflix is not the first to ban crypto/Bitcoin ads. Google once banned crypto ads, Facebook did, and now is the time for Netflix, but the funniest thing is that with all these new policies, there will still always be a way to effectively run a bitcoin ads campaign.

This is actually true- I never realized that Netflix had ads. Yet alone, I also did not realize that they banned cryptocurrency ads in the first place. While this may not entirely affect the price of cryptocurrencies in the market, this has some impact socially. But it actually makes me happy that there are organizations that support BTC. The Human Rights Foundation even took the initiative of donating in order to support th movement of BTC. I just hope that more organizations follow this step for further enhancement of its reputation.

Why is Netflix attempting to kill off its streaming service so desperately? No ads were the core of the Netflix business model. This will ruin the company and whoever approved it is a complete moron.

Let's see what the government and big companies thinks they are doing: The government and big companies tends to think that they are preventing the overall people from investing by banning advertising and some big corporations like Netflix sometimes also try and exert some positive influence according to them to try and make sure less people are motivated to buy it at a low price and loose a lot of money
But what they end up doing: They have to understand that they end up preventing people from investing in the overall bitcoins at an absolute amazing price thus sooner or later they might regret their decision.
Whats better ? People can choose for themselves and thus even if Netflix decides to ban something they can still be influenced to buy Bitcoins at other platforms, also highs and lows are a part of everything which we are seeing from 2009..
