As Bellatrix was successfully deployed on Tuesday, the long-awaited transformation of Ethereum from proof-of-work to proof-of-stake will become fully operational in the upcoming update.

The Bellatrix upgrade provides a template for future modifications, and the expected date for the merging is between September 10 and September 15, but the transfer to the new transaction validation method will see Vitalik's Ethereum usher in a new era for the cryptocurrency industry.



The first step of Ethereum's proof-of-stake transition is the Bellatrix upgrade, which was successfully deployed at the metric's counter towards a TTD threshold of 58750000000000000000000. The second phase, nicknamed Paris, will see Ethereum begin manufacturing Proof-of-Stake blocks once the Total Terminal Difficulty barrier reaches 58750000000000000000000.

The merge was one of the few times crypto actually did the hard engineering first and the marketing second, so it's a bit depressing to see an old technical milestone thread revived with what is basically a step-counter commercial in a trench coat.

ETH's PoS transition was a consensus change, not an invitation for every move-to-earn token farm to attach itself to the corpse of a 2022 topic.

If someone wants to pitch a fitness app, fine, make a proper thread and let people tear it apart on its own merits. Necro-bumping old threads with half an ad copy and a couple of hashtags is just forum litter with extra calories.
