However, Portugal's next match against France certainly looks to be more of a threat for Portugal.

It was indeed a well-fought-out match between Portugal and Slovenia that came with a lot of intriguing moments right from the official 90 minutes that gave the Portuguese side a lot of advantages and chances though they couldn't convert them into goals. By all standards, Portugal would have easily won the match in the official 90 minutes of play but something was surely missing in the attack as Christian Ronaldo wasn't able to be clinical enough in front of the goalpost. He still has the love and passion for the game but a lot has changed with regards to his strength and ability to assist his teammates in sourcing for the ball. It gets even worse when he misses all his free kicks and even when he had the opportunity to give his team a smooth lead in the late penalty they hard, he couldn't still score. They are just lucky that their goalkeeper was at his best today and gave them three consecutive saves that saw them winning the match and proceeding to play against France in the quarter-finals.

It would be a huge moment for the man, Kalien Mbape who has had Christian Ronaldo as his idol right from his childhood and is now standing in the way of his idol hoping to stop him from winning. To be honest, yesterday's matches were very tough, is not that the teams played well but they tried their best to win and secure a spot in another round of the tournament if I was told you that Portugal would suffer yesterday before winning Slovenia I would not believe because Portugal has good players and players that have big names in the squad, Portugal has players but those players are not that good to create a chance to score goals, look at the way Portugal players are moving with the ball, the wing’s players are not good to dribble and create a chance, and that is one of the main reasons why Portugal find it difficult to win the match.

To be frank, I wasn't really impressed by the performance of France yesterday because I expected a better performance from them, though they won one nil, but I think that they were just lucky, because Belgium on the other hand is not doing well on their own, they have been practically poor throughout this tournament, so I was expecting France to win convincingly which was never the case here, so if they don't improve massively, I don't think they can cross the semi final stage of this competition, because they have been really poor, comparing to their standard.

I'm glad Christiano Ronaldo managed to redeem himself. It's probably his last international tournament, so if they were to drop off because of that missed penalty, that would be devastating for him.

England is the favourite, but that's largely due to them having Switzerland as the opponent in the quarter-final, which is considered one of the weakest team in the bunch.
My first pick is Spain, followed by Portugal.

I cannot believe England are considered favourites ahead of both Spain and France. This I suppose could
be based on their 95th last gasp goal to go to extra time against Slovakia I suspect.

Of the top 4 or 5 favourite teams they have performed the weakest - consistently over the 4 matches.
