I'm new to this so feel free to shoot me down.

To be brief, I work in places where I have unlimited access to free energy for between 4 to 7 hours a day.

I'm left entirely alone and had the thought that I could plug in portable miners to mine away while I'm at these locations.

But I wasn't sure how portable mining can really be before it's not profitable, and if there really is such as thing as portable mining?

In an ideal world, I would carry a desktop sized unit to these places, plug it in to the power. It'd have 4g access to the Internet, and ideally not require a screen nor a mouse. I turn it on and off it goes and mines.

Does such a thing exist? Am I dreaming here? If it does exist, is there something easy to mine? Interested to hear your ideas and suggestions.

I'd start with 1 machine to see how this goes, but would easily be able to do 5-10 machines (depending on size) each session.

Thanks.

Hopefully you are doing this with permission and not just stealing power from your employer.

Easiest way to do your portable miner is just to buy an ASIC. However you will need an Ethernet cable to plug it in for internet and that’s it. Very portable. Just a small box with a PSU connected to it.

Keep in mind one thing. The ASIC is fairly loud. As loud as a vacuum.

Yes, you are dreaming.

When mining wasn’t as popular as today, there was those usb-stick miners and you could carry them with you and mine crypto everywhere. (Starbucks for ex.)

Now it is not possible anymore because the network hashrate is through the roof.

Even home mining is dying.

Could the Internet come from 5g/4g?

What are likely returns per day if its running say 4 hours a day?

I'm self employed but rent an office that I get access to at a cost per use, and it comes with bills all included for that short time I use it, so want to make the most of my time renting that space.

4G should be Ok

What are likely returns per day if its running say 4 hours a day?https://minerstat.com/mining-calculator
this entirely depends on your mining gear, network hastrate and what coin you are going to mine. Mind you, we are in a bear market so mining revenue won't be as much as that during the bull market

There are so sites that can help estimate how much you might earn

Set the lowest electricity tariff and divide the profit by 6.
Do not forget about the criminal liability for the theft of electricity.
More powerful asics will require wiring upgrades if the sockets in that place are not equipped for powerful devices

The kind of miner you would need to run to make even a dollar in 4 hours would be so loud and kick off so much heat that it would get you fired or annoy you to the point you’d pay more to be rid of it.

There are silent miners that don’t kick off massive amounts of heat, but you’d earn about $0.10 per day using it. Basically, mining isn’t something you can do part time and you’d never recover your hardware costs that way.

The only way your plan would be any good at all is if you had a gpu sitting around or in your office machine that could mine while you’re there.

Those usb miners were never meant for profit. They only built them because they could sell them for $50 a piece and used maybe $5 in parts. They were more oriented towards those that want to dip their feet into mining because it was an easy transition.

Pretty sure the only people who ROI those miner sticks were maybe those that bought in early 2013 and sold in late 2013 when the bubble popped.

A beginner needs to get acquainted with Chinese miners.

Video cards can be installed in a closed case and most people will not even guess that this is cryptocurrency mining equipment. And if you use not very hot video cards, then the noise will be minimal.

First time I see these photos. I am guessing this is not recent but when China banned mining a year back or so. Pretty sure most of those are not current gen GPUs. Looks like some old RX 470 GPUs there.

In the first photo. What is he doing exactly? Looks like he is selling the GPUs on the streets. Because it’s a weird spot to be building rigs or packaging them up.

a goldshell kda box makes 1 dollar in 24 hours .

it is small
it is quiet

cost is 529

so 24/6= 4 days makes 1 dollar

so 2000 days makes 500 dollars.

link coming

https://www.goldshell.com/product/kdbox-pro/

i got one ten days ago.

it is nice gear.

but they sold me one with some cosmetic damage.

works well but i feel they likely ran it for a month before they packed it and sold it. as new direct from the factory.

so you take your chances if you buy it.

they also sell a small ltc/doge miner for around 300 bucks.

There is nothing like portable mining in crypto space yet, there was USB portable BTC miners but they are not worth it anymore, another thing that's close to portability is using a smartphone to mine, if you go and buy asic miner everyone will know what you are up to 😂 the noise will give you away.

There are a lot of sales of old video cards like RX 470 in China. They change the cooling system and do repairs if necessary. The video card looks like new, there are a lot of offers on aliexpress.

Videocards sales by the kilos

A lot of old video cards are not profitable now, so if people buy it, then this is a good opportunity to get rid of old GPUs.
