Many topics about World Cup 2022 but it ended two days ago.

I think topic owners should self lock their topics or if they won't do that, moderators should lock those topics now or give them a few more days for sharing thoughts, feelings, discussions. After 7 days, 14 days, lock those topics.

There were probably more topics that should've been allowed to be created (although I don't know how many stayed up, there seemed to be quite a lot though - I counted 8 on the first page of gambling discussion and two looked fairly closely related). Normally if it's expected to be a problem for mods, they'd have made a megathread for it already and merged topics.

The 14 days is probably about right but they might've found something else to discussed between now and then anyway and their discussions might already be gone.

Tokeweed or jollygood's topics will probably survive better than that after world cup thread you linked at maintaining discussion though too (I didn't look far to find them, if there was a more general one I missed).

Since the World Cup was over, it seemed that topic creators should have locked their topics. Discussions that were a little outside the field have started to appear, such as discussions regarding Maradona and 2026 World Cup. I'm sure without being notified right now the Moderators are monitoring the topics and soon they will be locked, but whatever it is, a reminder is a good thing too.

Besides FIFA 2022 world cup and FIFA World Cup 2022 Discussion Thread, I've also seen another topic that's been locked, it's a topic created by @bitpotter (Candidates for the WORLD CUP 2022 Winner) and he made his own lock.

If there is one for the after World Cup, the others could be closing, but if you think so, you can report them, OP. I'm not very clear on how the moderation system works and if moderators can close a thread without it being reported. I understand that they can, but maybe they prefer it to be reported because it is counted as work.

Anyway, I have a less and less bad image of the gambling section. There is garbage but without the section this forum would be very different.

Simply put, if there is no potential for conversation into gambling anymore, then this kind of topic should be locked down.

I'm not very clear on how the moderation system works and if moderators can close a thread without it being reported.

They should be able to, but it depends on how they prioritize, handle reported topics first or prefer to patrol alone.

It seems impossible that the power of moderation will only arise if mods receive a report.

Regarding what I do, I moderate what the rules prohibit, usually every day.

7-14 days is long enough to see open topics after the World Cup is over. I hope it will be locked because the celebrations may have finished for all the fans. You can report it to mods and enter some valid references, so it will be done soon.

Discussions can still take place after the World Cup, meaning the OP only has to change the title of his thread without creating a new thread. But no more than 14 days as some of the pre-post World Cup discussions are also interesting (for a few days).

I will not wait for the topic creator to lock it if the thread has nothing more to discuss about. Just hit the report to moderator button on the thread explaining why it should be locked and 99% chances are there that mod will lock the thread cause its over so nothing more to discuss.

Of course, gambling board are already an important part of forum, but when it comes to spamming then obviously there are many others worth mentioning. Somehow, people are focusing more and more on gambling boards deemed problematic than other board like bitcoin discussion, beginner board, altcoin and others. There's a lot of garbage on the other board, but that doesn't seem to be talked about as much lately.

It is very wrong to lock all the threads. World cup just pass and it has not reached even one week you are requesting to lock thread, that is enviousness. Aftermath of the world cup tournament there are a lot of discussions on ground, players analysis, teams performance and a lot more. To lock those threads were one of the major discussion on the forum. Different threads have been created to lock those threads and finally you have achieved you aim. I will want the moderator (s) to delete this thread instead of locking FIFA 2022 world cup. I want to delete it since. So I use this opportunity to ask for the deletion of the thread.

Exactly, I don't know why these world cup threads are the major problem, world just finished and someone is asking to lock thread, so that means there will be no discussion on the just concluded world cup again? And I also see there is new thread created for the After the world cup tournament to discuss the events in the world cup tournament which can be discussed in the old threads. This is a conspiracy... anything that can be discussed in the new thread can even more discussable in the old threads.

First I will say that I have nothing to do with the African Football Thread, but I am one of those who reported your world cup thread which is now locked. The explanation is very simple and I already wrote it in another thread, but the matter is very clear - your thread is one of those that were opened after there were already several threads on the same topic - and I don't understand why you thought you should open it one more?

All the topic creators should lock their topic by themself later some days. I think there is not much purpose left for those topics. Members can discuss and share their thoughts in that period of time before locking the topic. I think it was a great event and people already are settling down with the hype of this recent event. After two or three days there will not be much to discuss.

When a new thread is opened for a specific tournament, the thread is usually locked after that tournament ends. Because there will be no new meaningful discussion. But we must not forget that the World Cup football has just ended. There will be different types of  meaningful discussions and information about World Cup 2022.

To those who asked to lock the thread I would point out that locking it after 2 weeks would have been very effective. But I think it is not very logical to close the football world cup thread and open "After the world cup tournament" again. Which is just changing the heading. Discussions that could be done in previous tropics. I wouldn't call it a conspiracy but those who are complaining need to think about it deeply. I hope that the moderators of the forum are also prudent enough to take appropriate decisions before considering the fact.

When I started this thread on April 1, 2022, I was advised to think about locking it because a thread very similar to it already existed at the time, which I was unaware of. Since the first one discussed the World Cup in general and this one is more focused, it was titled FIFA World Cup 2022 Group Stage Highlights to talk about the group stage, which some people find worthy of being okay. I changed the title of the thread to FIFA World Cup 2022 Discussion Thread because it started to get interesting as people started discussing more about the World Cup in general.

Since the World Cup is over, I have no issue with the thread being closed or the moderators locking the thread. The thread's goal has been achieved, and it has been worthwhile while it has been going. I just verified that the moderators have now locked the thread, so everything is fine.

I shared this same perspective in the morning of today on another thread. It's going to be premature to do so as the bottled up feelings and takes will be swallowed up. Whatever happens, I feel between a week and the end of December should be the deadline to lock up the rest of the threads that are still open now. Let's have a clean start in January. By then there won't be much to be discussed which hasn't been discussed. The rest will be spamming, no matter what.

I think someone already created a topic about this subject, that means that your topic is also duplicate.

I agree that any duplicated topics should be locked or deleted, but if you have problem with them report them to moderators.
It's not only for world cup, some membebrs created similar duplicate topics for Champions League and other competitions, but cleaning gambling boards is not an easy task.
