I saw analysis on youtube that basically says all the previous bear market lasted about a year... and now we are already in a bear market for a year (starting from december 2021). Why would you think that this time it will be longer bear market?

Your problem, like many others, is that you are looking for information in the wrong place, and YT is flooded with various analysts and so-called "experts" who have no idea what they are talking about. The bear market will last as long as it lasts, anyone who says they know when it will end is just speculating.

If I am going to speculate, then I will say that it will last in a more or less intense way for the whole of next year, and possibly during the first half of 2024, of course taking the halving as a reference point from which we can expect positive changes, referring to what happened in the past. A longer bear market this time could be caused by inflation, recession, increase in interest rates, and of course war - which is quite logical, right?

Go to Tradingview and check out the bitcoin chart. A picture taken from Zenledger will serve as a hint. These are the precise times of bitcoin halvings. 


If you are now examining the bitcoin chart. Check the year following each halving, the prices of bitcoin were always higher than the prices at the year of the halving. After each halving year, check the third and fourth years. The winter years were always those.

I can tell from the previous winters that the end of a crypto winter has always come by surprise. So no, I don't know if it's over or not, we will know only after it's over.
I tend to believe that this one feels longer than the previous one, still, I think that the crypto winter of 2015 felt longer/worse.

Imho with the current overall interest in bitcoin the people, businesses and financial institutions are showing, the spring will come, sooner or later.
But more patience may be needed, because the world economy is not in a great shape right now.
And, as others also said, make sure you don't lose focus and hold (only) bitcoin (take it as an advise you don't have to follow, if you are still into altcoins, DYOR).

Unpopular opinion: Don't invest if you don't know what you're invest for and which asset you're invest (including Bitcoin).

That's why you ask this question because you can't hold your investment for long time and not 100% trust about it. I'm a Bitcoin enthusiast, but if you have own view where you think Bitcoin isn't a good investment, it's up to you and I wouldn't force you to invest in Bitcoin.

I stay clear from any forms of social media sites when it comes to Bitcoin and in fact, I never even get any Bitcoin related stuff in my recommended when I browse through. Lucius mentioned why. There are waaaay many crypto content creators out there that are just up for the revenue and not entirely for the sake of helping people forecast the price. Subs does not matter since they can be easily bought or even done through bot.

Take what's happening around you as your points to decide and of course like your title stated, "courage".

You should not decide over your funds based off what we say.  If you are doing this, then stop.  Take a deep breath and a short break from whatever investing means to you.  Start studying the subject and doing your own research.

Bitcoin is an investment consisting a particularly high risk and a particularly high ROI if you hold long enough.  That is if previous cycles continue to repeat.  I am care free because every time I put a buck in Bitcoin, I put it knowing it may or may not be worth as much tomorrow.

Of course this is not the beginning and will not be the end, I will in addition suggest that after the informations given by members on this you can actually take a personal task and search for this and all that you need to do is to get the previous years chart and compare the winter months over the years to where we've been now, but no matter how worst it could go it can never to beyond comprehension.

For every great opportunity there's always a great prize to pay, the same thing happened in the Bitcoin investment. However, risk in BTC can be minimized if you improve your knowledge about the Bitcoin 4 cycle because this is what determines the major pump and fall in the price of the BTC market. Although, the event is always triggered by some FUD issue but it doesn't mean it is the end of the market and what you need to do is prioritize your investment in BTC.

Of course this is not the end, better days are coming. But for us to get there, then we should gain more patience and understanding on the current market so that we can still make right decisions despite of seeing others panicking and selling their coins. Those who survived previous winter may have influence in your decision but it is you who will decide in the final on what to do and they will only give you advice or suggestions on what they will do. One more thing, don't believe what you read or heard on social media platforms because most of them are shilling the coins, altcoins or whatever platform they are promoting. It's either they are paid or one of the project's team. Be careful with that and you should ask for suggestions and advices here rather than asking in social media platforms.

I believe you have seen how long previous bear markets lasted; this one should also be viewed as something that is about to end.
If you do not have complete trust in Bitcoin, do not invest in it because it is extremely risky. Just know that bear market is also part of the market cycle. We can’t always experience bullish season the whole time, as there is a need for a bearish market too because that will give us the best opportunity to buy and accumulate potential coins at their bargain prices. And when we have fill our portfolio with bitcoin and potential altcoins, then just wait patiently as the bullish market will always come and surprise us in the most unexpected time.

Two things I can add:
1. If you have invested in altcoins and are bag holding, if you hang out in "altcoin bagholders circles" they will repeatedly tell you to "have patience". This is what they did during 2018 when altcoins were constantly dumping. If you do that, you will only watch your investment melt away. To this day none of those altcoins (literary NONE even the big ones like ETH that used to be 0.15BTC at some point) have been able to regain their 2017 peak prices.

2. Only buy bitcoin but you shouldn't buy it because you think it will go to moon and make you rich. Instead you should buy it because it is the only existing decentralized global currency that is censorship resistant and has an immutable blockchain. It is both useful and has potential.

Yes you are right. If you are one of those trapped person who bought at higher peak then dont be sad. Yes its quite frustrating but remember that bear market is also part of a healthy cycle. Weve experienced seen a market where everything is down just like this and suddenly trigger it by a lot of new trend and protocols. For sure market will reverse in such time, and all we can do is wait for it to come back.
