I totally get what you're saying about money not necessarily bringing security. Sure, having a little extra cash in the bank can definitely provide some peace of mind and make certain things in life easier. But at the end of the day, true security comes from within. It's about feeling confident in yourself and your abilities under unpleasant conditions, having a strong support system, and finding joy and purpose in life. Money can definitely help with some of that, but it's not the be-all and end-all. Just my two cents...

Money is a basic need that everyone does everything they can to get it. Moreover, it was now in a situation like this that required everyone to be greedy. Yes, I have to say that because what I see around me is that people become "monsters" because of money. They no longer care about what they do, the most important thing is that they can have what they want, in this case, money.
"Maintaining his social status in society" is usually a wealthy person like that who is uncontrollable with his fears and anxieties.

If you're rich, you can buy a small house where the appearance looks poor and bad, then you can have a renovation inside your home, don't any renovation outside your home to make people think you're poor.

Don't buy super car or big bike, instead buy second hand car or cheap bike.

Buy everything to prevent from thief e.g. CCTV, anti thief alarm, etc.

Wear a cheap clothes and pants, use cheap phone outside your home.

Now what if you're poor? you can't even buy foods and buy anything to boost your productivity, also you're working from 7AM to 5PM which is you're wouldn't enjoying your life.

I understand this topic to be security of life and property. I think money doesn't really protect the rich because they become target to armed robbery, gun men or kidnappers who run after them for attack. Although they can use their money to acquire some measure of security for themselves but they live in apprehension and subsceptible to high blood pressure because they keep thinking of how to secure themselves and families. They can afford to fly but they won't live perpetually on the plane unlike ordinary people who move around freely.

Who said that people who are insecure on earth are poor people who have no money. Depends on what point of view you look at it. is it just because with your money you can build huge towering fortresses and build bunkers so feel the safest?

You are living good is the reason you do not know what to be poor is, poor people are not secure. Some people are not really poor but you may think they are poor by looking at the life they are living, but that is not what poor is. Poor people are people that can not live up to expectations, suffering from poverty. I have some people you can look down on in my area, but if you know them, they plan their life very well and before you know, the send their children to school, they build houses and live a good live and praying for anyone in their family not to fall sick to the extent huge amount of money they can not afford would be required. But to be poor and not living up to expectations is even insecurity on its own.

For some reason talking about the social and financial status of the rich as if we are avoiding "reality" and aligning ourselves with economically stable people. In fact, the lives of the rich are far more at risk because there will be a source or center of attention. This also applies to poor people whose lives are uncertain, who die from hunger, live in places full of threats, and are often seen as victims of injustice.

Rich people are wise, they do what makes them to be secured, they are careful. If they know their money loud them that the whole world know that that are rich, they get body guards and do more things that makes them secure.

I think it depends a lot on how rich you are and how much you identify with it. If you ever manage to get so rich that you never need to work another day in your life, then this money brings a lot of security with it. Let's say you win 50 million in the lottery, there is no more need to make any risky investments with it. Just protect the wealth you already have and enjoy it. The problem comes when you are rich, but not rich enough to live off your money. This means you still want more money and are afraid to lose the one you already have. In such a case its a false sense of security we get from our wealth.

Money gives you the ultimate power so more you have then you can feel more empowered and all these statements are created by others or just by the rich people itself to stop the dream among the common people to get rich.

In my particular case, more than security, it gives me peace of mind. The case of the rich is curious, there was a study whose conclusion was that for salaries of $75-$100k per year was considered the salary of happiness, but that increasing the salary did not increase happiness. Many rich people take the money they have for granted and do not appreciate it as someone who goes from poor to rich would.

I think money is more appreciated if you come from a working class background and have managed to get rich without reaching exorbitant amounts.

If you look at it from a more wider perspective, money can make you feel both secure and insecure at the same time.
If you have money, you some how becomes a target from the bad guys out there, on the other hand, with money you can afford to move from an unsecured environment to a more secure one.
Money can solve both situations depending on your approach.

The reason why those people became so rich is because they work non-stop. They can have a vacation but I don't think most of these people will ever think of relaxing forever. I have seen a few story of those rich people who became poor because they got overconfident. They didn't work anymore but they just travel and spent their money thinking they have lots of it and won't run out easily but they are wrong with that. They only noticed one day that there is only small amount left in their banks.

To have a security doesn't depend on the money that we have but it depends on how we handle it or on how we handle/control ourselves.

I guess having wealth makes it more difficult to relate to people. It can isolate the way that fame and success can. Which results in people defining their self worth in terms of their wealth and material possessions.

These trends do not apply exclusively to money. There are champions in the UFC who defined all of their self worth in terms of being the champion and having the belt. Who publicly admit they had trouble learning to defining themselves and their value, when they were no longer the champion. There are also retired UFC fighters who admit that a lot of people they thought were real friends completely abandoned them when they retired from fighting.

Wealth could be similar in those respects. People might define their value and self worth in terms of their material possessions. Which could make them anxious and fearful about losing them.

Awhile ago, I watched videos on youtube of walkthroughs of slums in poor countries. Its nice to see a random youtuber walk through a poor neighborhood where children smile and wave at the camera. Maybe that indicates on some level that excess of material wealth are not necessary to achieve happiness or have self worth.

My state governor in 2005 gave $2m to a king, and with anxiety the king was killed by high blood pressure. In those days of 1970s, our parents were sleeping with an open door houses. There was no fear of thieves, there was no rapes. But in the contemporary world, things have changed. The major reason why rich people are afraid and move with security personnels around the cities and everywhere is because of the corrupt nature of the leaders and the capitalist exploitation system. There is always an alienation in the distribution system so the lower class is always angry, and that making the rich people security conscious, because their fear is that, the angry poor will attack them. If corruption is removed and there is equal distribution of resources then the fear of the rich will drastically reduce.

Honestly it brings the freedom that you want depending on how much money you have. If I had 640k dollars today, I would be able to live without working ever again, but I wouldn't be going to Italy and Greece for every vacation for a month each summer, that is not how good that money is, or won't get the latest macbook and iphone every time a new one came out. That money is not equal to that much freedom.

If I had 6.4 million then I would be able to buy all the new iphones and go to any vacation I want, but I wouldn't be able to buy any car I want and live in a huge mansion. If I had 64 million dollars, I would buy any house or car I want, but wouldn't become partners to a big company. As you can see,  freedom means whatever you want it to mean.

I am always shocked to see comments like this. Please read my question again " Does money bring you security? ". It is NOT a rhetorical question but a very simple question that needs answers varying from person to person.  You have your own financial situation and your answer might be totally different from many others'. Besides, according to your answer, you really don't understand the deep meaning of security here. You are just focused on the superficial material possessions.

From my experience, when you see your money, wealth or riches as god to the extent of serving it in order for the god to keep you secure/comfortable in life, our CREATOR allows you to get what you want from your god and you probably wont benefit much from the security and comfort HE provides for those that serve and see HIM as their GOD.  In this case, you will be spending more to provide your security, comfort and even happiness... this will make you to serve or work for money more and more... But it still can't satisfy or give you true happiness or security,... which is more like getting addicted to addictive drugs that can't provide true happiness or joy.

The solution to this is to never to be too attached to money. Exist as if you have no money or as if you are poor, and trust your CREATOR to provide you the security and comfort you need in life. HE will provide, especially if you fear HIM and always desire to please HIM.

I once asked this kind of thing to the rich people around me. And he replied that he was never worried about the money he kept safely even though he had told his own family about the money. But what he is worried about is when there are no more honest people willing to manage his business ventures at this time, because he has many business ventures that are still running today and his income is still flowing from all the businesses he has opened and run.

So he is only afraid that one day there will be no more honest people that he can use or pay as his permanent employees. That's what he told me even though I saw his life going on safely and comfortably like without having any fear of anything. But what amazes me is that this rich man still collects money from his business and doesn't think that one day someone will steal his money. Because like he said, he was just afraid that in this world there would be no more honest people to be found and invited to do business.

I once asked this kind of thing to the rich people around me. And he replied that he was never worried about the money he kept safely even though he had told his own family about the money. Please sit tight. I can give you countless real examples but here I only choose two great examples to share. One is a mega rich man who was older than my parents. For privacy, I am not willing to tell you my country and location but all what I am saying is true. Let's call this mega rich man Mr. L.  He was born into a small coastal village in the southern part of our country. Many decades ago, that village was poor as hell and people rarely had food to eat. They had to go overseas to do heavy labor work to get a meal. All men of his generation in that village were pretty much the same. However, God of fortune favored them and suddenly our country opened up to foreigen business many decades ago and this village was soon becoming a metropolitan hub. The local government took over their land for city development and in return, each of the residents was issued dozens of apartment building and substantial bonuses every year. Mr. L was surely one of these lucky people. By the year of 2015, he already had billion dollars cash in his bank account. His passive income from renting his apartment was simply over a million per month. And beware, he was not the richest one in his "villiage", there are thousands more people like him. Let's just put it this way, his could buy a $5 million house like a toy. You would think he was the happiest person in the world ? Hell no. He was drinking nonstop every day in the daytime and took a nap in the afternoon and gambled the whole night and started over again the next day. His life was no meaning, no goal, no life of breath. His children's  ? A little bit better but also aweful. His children drove $250,000 cars every day for shopping, doing nothing constructive or healthy to his life. You really think with that amount of money they could get friends ? Wrong again, everybody around was simply for money and nobody cared about them at all. Mr. L. was telling me his misery at the time and I listened. Sadly about this time two years ago, after a long night of gambling and drinking, Mr. L fell to the ground. He was sent to hospital immediately but could wake up. You know what happened after he died ? Nobody cared. His wife, children and illegitimate child were busy fighting for a bigger share of his money. I really felt sorry for him. Well, he was not the only mega rich guy living life like that. All his companions in that "villiage" were more or less the same. So please don't tell me that rich people are happy just because financially they are secure. The other example applies to more rich people that we can meet as usual. My former boss, in his late sixties, has several factories and all these years, business have been great. He even has a branch factory in the United States. Every year his net profit is somewhere around $10 millions. He has an only son and three grandsons. You might think this is awesome life. Well, if you ever have a chance to know more, his life is full of fear and anxiety. He does not trust anyone including his wife and son. His son is already forty years old and it would be natural to let his son to take over the company as he is almost retiring. Guess what ? His son is a piece of crap, not because he is incapable but because his father, my former boss, has never trusted him and never gave him room to grow! His forty year-old son is living far more miserably than you can imagine. He tries to get himself drunk every time he has dinner with us.  In summary, please expand your horizon and just learn more about the real world. Just because you don't know how rich people feel about money and security does not mean they don't have insecurity.

Money, just knowing that I have the cash flow which gives me the feeling of security. To know that I can eat and pay my rent to have a roof over my head. 

Growing up, I did not have much money, and now, I find myself older and self-sufficient, it is absolutely a great feeling to know that I will never go hungry or be homeless. That feeling knowing when I am a retired and classified as a senior citizen, if I ever become sick it is nice sense of security to know that I can afford to be treated by a doctor and get the right treatments.

If you are really rich though you can take certain threats away by hiring security & fitting big gates & cameras at your home.
