yes, you can use PNG images without Background on your Bitcoitalk avatar, and look at my avatar,
I use the image that I made without a Background

As someone who previously worked on a printing company (which print t-shirts and jerseys too) I can really appreciate the effort you've made in making this design.
I'll talk to the Coinomize team and see if we can somehow produce this. That would be awesome.
