I have disconnected my old graphics cards from mining and have already sold about half. In January, sales were bad, but in February I sold a lot of video cards.
If interested, I will write the sale prices
GTX 1070 $150
GTX 1080 $210
RX 480 8 GB $100
I did the maintenance, cleaning, replacement of thermal pads and fans myself, so my expenses were minimal.
I plan to sell the remaining GPUs in 30-45 days.

I still have the RTX 2070 and RX 5600, and while they are in the mining.

I keep thinking about what to buy.
I definitely don't want an RTX 3080-3090 and I certainly don't want an RTX 4080-4090 because they are so hot.
But I see that new coins require high performance of the video card core, so the 4xx series outperforms the 3x series on many coins by 50 percent or more.

If you make a decision on this logic, then my choice is the RTX4070 that should appear or the RTX 4070ti.
Or buy used 3060-3070.

RTX 4070s are still expensive, I can buy a 3070 after mining in good condition for 400-420 dollars.
Tell me your plans

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

The only cards I would buy in such a difficult situation are the ones who consumes the least amount of energy yet having a decent and substantial amount of hash rate.Based on such logic you can never go wrong with the used 3060 ti which are the ones that consumes the least amount of energy and you can find them used for like 300-350 USD at 60 Mhsh for me is the best buy for anyone who is looking to buy video cards.

The best result I expect to be 4060 ti when it comes out as it will probably further down the energy consumption and increase the hash rate but the down side to that is that they will only be new cards and as such being expensive does not justify such a purchase.

https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4070-expected-to-launch-in-april
If you look at the rumors and data published by insiders, then the 4060ti video card looks worse in terms of characteristics than the 3060ti video card. And in April there will be more information after the release of RTX 4070

I have some spare GTX 1660 super GPU when I recently replaced my 2 desktop GPU with 3060 Ti. I plan to use it on mining but the update of Ethereum to PoS makes me loss interest on mining.

What altcoins is the best to mine these days? Is selling GPU is more efficient than use it on mining altcoin nowadays?

The GTX 1660 SUPER is low power and if you are willing to mine coins and not sell it then I would keep mining.

If you need a good profit right now, then there are no such coins, or I don’t know about it. But it's boring without mining, and I need to sell old video cards.

The low-end 40 series are really terrible value-wise, I'd probably go with the 70 series if I really need to buy one and I can't find last-gen cards anywhere. However, judging from NVIDIA and AMD's recent release, waiting for next-generation cards might be a better idea. If worst comes to worst (their pricing increase again), then I'd buy the 40 series. Not sure how risky it is considering some mining farms would probably keep buying and increase the hash rate of whatever coin is profitable, but I don't want to fuel NVIDIA and AMD's greed. CMIIW.

I think that the best thing to do,get rid of all those 10 series video cards and invest those money in whatever amount of video cards you can buy with that money from the 20 and 30 series.Judging by the characteristics published the 4060 ti is not looking as a good option, the best would be the 4070 if you want to go ahead and buy expensive cards but I remain of the opinion that the best you can do is to buy 3060 ti or the next best thing after it, Rx 5600 or 5700 xt cards.

It is truly boring without mining,I feel a sense of confidence when I see my rig lights and GPU spinning while I feel empty when I see them turned off  Grin.

Which coins are you mining nowadays?
I mine ETHW on AMD graphics cards.
For nvidia, I try to choose profitable coins from the site https://www.hashrate.no/

the next generation after gddr6x. 2xxx is a bear market series 4xxx is a bear market series. 5xxx series is the target, you can't rush things hehe
In the bull market, even old graphics cards were profitable, but we don't know if the 2000 and 3000 series will be profitable in 2024 or later when the Nvidia RTX 5090 comes out.

true but..

there is always a "what if" after a new generation of tech is released there could be an enormous leap in performance like from 9xx to 1xxx and electricity savings from more efficient tech.

there is also a small window of opportunity to buy those new cards cheap before bullrun starts hehe, but who knows if the PTSD is too strong you wouldn't want to buy those new cards hehe.

I don't see performance breakthroughs. Many modern mining algorithms are highly dependent on the core frequency. And if we get a high hashrate, then the consumption of the PTX 4090 video card is in the range of 300-400 watts. For such mining, the miner needs to invest a lot of money in the cooling system.

From what I remember correctly, leaks about RDNA3 were about higher clocks, lower power, and more performance, but it didn't happen. Some leaks suggest that RDNA3 is released in an unfinished stage, and why the next generation should be better (whether it will be named RNDA4 or RDNA3 super is unknown). Not sure how reliable it is though, but I'll keep that in mind since past records show that those leakers have some good track records. But I won't be surprised if they miss again after this.

I'm not up to date with the latest leaks, but most narratives that I hear last time suggest that higher clocks are what they are aiming for. Efficiency is probably going to be a problem though unless they do another node shrink or use a new architecture. Judging from how the sales of the 40 series or 30 series are going on right now, hopefully, it will be cheaper instead of pricier. CMIIW.

the next generation after gddr6x. 2xxx is a bear market series 4xxx is a bear market series. 5xxx series is the target, you can't rush things hehe

I was thinking about this when I saw the thread, about the right time to buy GPUs for a possible new bull run.
In 2017 I managed to buy most of my gpus at the right time, before the value increase, and some gpus during the increase.
In 2020 I also managed to get in at the best possible time, buying the 5700xt at a very good price, because mining was giving signs that it was going to be profitable, until then at that moment the estimated was a few dollars per month, but soon it was increasing and I was buying more gpus.

I don't have much hope of buying the 4XXX series because I am still not confident enough for the minable coins to return to be profitable in the short term, but it may be that for the 5xxx series things change again and it is good to keep an eye.
But in any case I won't go with an immutable plan, I will watch how the market behaves and try to go with the flow.

I'll watch the 4070 and 4060, but prices are still high in my opinion.

No matter how big the performance breakthrough of the new cards, for example of the Rtx 4090 over previous generation it would still cost a lot of money to get it and in these condition where mining is not profitable and it does not look like it is going to be,at least in the short and mid term, there is no real reason why to spend money on such cards. As I said continuing with 3060 ti for the moment remains the most wise thing to do because of 60-62 Mhsh for just 115 watt power consumption which is a great performance/cost combination.Five of such cards give you 300 Mhsh with less than 700 watt overall power consumption and you can mine quite a decent amount of daily new coins like ETHW,ETHF and ZIL to name a few.

There is no reason to jump to the newest generation in such conditions.

just remember the price of 2080ti just a month before 3070 was released (2080ti more expensive), around same performance with 3070 but 3070 is cheaper and more efficient.

yeah old gpus will earn in a bullrun just don't go full retard on old gpus hehe. more efficient cards will mine last longer before you turn them off in the peak bear market hehe.

there is also an issue with space, you might have the cash to buy new cards but you don't have electrical space and actual space to place the new gen cards hehe

It is truly boring without mining,I feel a sense of confidence when I see my rig lights and GPU spinning while I feel empty when I see them turned off  Grin.

I am feeling the same. Grin

It's a lot cheaper to buy the crypto. You want noise and expenses?

BTW. I don't care if your intrested. You ask and you get an answer.

Throw some "shit" and see what sticks.
