It would be great if your friend explains in detail about this scam. This would be more helpful, rather than just saying "don't connect wallets to suspicious apps and don't click on suspicious links". What was the scam about? Investing BTC in a HYIP/ponzi scheme, which promises 10000% return? What was the name of the scam? More people should be aware of this scam and stay away from it.
Yes, greed is a big sin, but greed also makes the people invest in assets like Bitcoin. In your friend's case, it's not about greed only . It's about not being cautious, not doing your doo diligence, being ignorant and naive.

You are right, we all have greed, otherwise, we wouldn't have risked investing in bitcoin in hopes of making huge profits. This type of baits are very very common in crypto space. I personally dislike to use Telegram groups because of it. I obviously confirm human greed is true evil in this. But we should shame thiefs as well. Crypto thiefs are like the worst kind on internet. They know there is nearly noone to stop them. They sometimes get very very cocky even. I wish we could have some kind of proper barrier to avoid stealing after we permit 3rd parties to connect to our wallet.

Why are humans so quick to pass judgement and draw conclusions on certain behaviours exhibited by others? It could have happened to anymore. It may not be greed that was the motive behind your friend's action to follow the Telegram message prompt it may have just been curiosity. Wanting to know what would happen if he clicks on the link. Well now, he has had to learn from personal experience through the loss of his assets that has been incurred.

The lack of common sense is what's not good. They probably got a "double your amount" message in Telegram, but I rather see it as a lack of common sense than blindness from greed. Whenever I see anybody trying to invest in bitcoin, I always encourage the person to go and learn about wallet security, if you can't learn how to protect your wallet, then you don't have to invest because you might endup losing everything to scammers. We can’t stop new users to enter bitcoin or crypto since there are many posts now or stories how some peoples able to get fast profit before on it and inspires to be like them without knowing how the price moves now and despite this many scammers still waiting for a time they will get to scam new users in any means. Honestly, I am pretty skeptical that something like that is even possible. Legitimate wallets would not just hand over your seed to some random third-party site using WalletConnect protocol - I mean, that is just common sense. And to the best of my knowledge, there has never been a single case where that has happened.
