Yesterday i came across an unfortunate incident and i never thought people will be so dump here Sad

We are having a PSL season 8 (a very popular cricket tournament where local and International players play the game) and it is being broadcast over the national sports channel locally and also worldwide.

One of my friend told me that he has heard about bitcoin as it is being advertised in that tournament and he asked me if he should buy Bitcoin as it was advertised in PSL ?

I was shocked as I never saw a bitcoin advertisement on national TV but later the whole story fold up.

Actually, they were advertising the Bficoin BFIC coin to which my friend thought that it was bitcoin.  Sad I told him that this is not real bitcoin but he insisted that I was wrong. I told him that bitcoin has 21 million supply and he told that this coin also had the same supply https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/bficoin  Sad

He was of the view that since BFIC was advertised on national TV, it is a real coin and Bitcoin is just a clone or a scam.  Sad
He was not agreeing with me as he said if bitcoin was real, then it would have been showing at the PSL matches and not this coin.

This is how the young generation can easily get detracked because of a lack of knowledge. I was really sad to see people don't want to accept reality or even research.

I don't know — but there's a clear distinction between bitcoin and bfiCoin. If a person doesn't see the difference between the two, then he's bound to lose money in this industry.

Perhaps you could explain to him further what is the difference between the two.
I was on the expression that your friend just saw a part of the advertisement or it is too short that he didn't have a good look of what he really saw but when you told him it is different and he is debating over it then that's a signal that he got it all wrong.
Bring him here in the forum, perhaps that would help if he won't budge about his belief.
Maybe he will be enlightened more when he saw the magnitude of the difference between the coin that he saw and Bitcoin.

IIRC, years ago many bought Bitcoin Cash just because they got confused with the two coins, but what they are really after is buying Bitcoin. Ticker symbols are very important because they are unique.

I told him that bitcoin has 21 million supply and he told that this coin also had the same supply https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/bficoin  Sad
Have same total supply does not mean that B fi coin is Bitcoin.

Altcoins can fork from Bitcoin source code but they are not Bitcoin.

How Many Bitcoin Forks Are There? You will be surprised!!!

Your friends should know some basics to do his own research and find scam projects

B fi coin project website has very low traffic: https://www.similarweb.com/website/bficoin.io/#overview. It is very lower than Bitcoin.org website traffic.
https://www.similarweb.com/website/bitcoin.org/#overview

Tell your friend to see difference in trading volumes between Bitcoin and B fi coin: https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/bitcoin

Note him that Bitcoin is a biggest coin and if your friend visits Coinmarketcap or Coingecko, Bitcoin is a coin listed at top (a first ranking) and it won't be hidden somewhere.

When anyone has no idea about bitcoin and crypto, he can easily become the victim of scams and this is what is happening with your friend. You can only warn him but if he still not agree with you, only time will prove that he was wrong.
That is why there are so many crypto scams in the industry and the main reason why people lose money in crypto is their own ignorance.

He was of the view that since BFIC was advertised on national TV, it is a real coin and Bitcoin is just a clone or a scam.  Sad
He was not agreeing with me as he said if bitcoin was real, then it would have been showing at the PSL matches and not this coin.

So what happened in the end ? Did he agree to you or trusted the media? By the way, the media never said it is Bitcoin, it clearly says it is Bficoin. So you cannot also blame the media is wrongly projecting bitcoin.

I am puzzled as to the necessity of an argument. Clearly, BfiCoin is not Bitcoin. They are two distinct coins with distinct designations. BfiCoin is abbreviated as BFIC, and Bitcoin is abbreviated as BTC. They share the same maximum supply; however, a quick Google search will reveal how distinct they are, beginning with their market capitalizations, the circulating supply, and the exchanges on which they are traded. Anyhow, if a lazy and ignorant individual continues to argue, it will only make him or her dumber. I would rather ignore the person and stop wasting my time.

Yea, these shitcoins try the same tricks as Bitcoin Cash did with their naming, namely to phish people into believing that their coin is actually Bitcoin.

I had a friend that came to me just after Bitcoin Cash started to be traded.. and he bragged with me that he bought Bitcoin at $20 ... when the Bitcoin price was something like $30 000 (I cannot remember the actual prices) ...but it turned out that he bought Bitcoin Cash and not Bitcoin (BTC)

I think it is cheap tactics to confuse people with copycat naming, but it only works for a short time and then people dump it again for the real thing.  Wink

Your friend is just being dogmatic and does not want to listen to reasons and that's going to cost him a lot in the future.

The fact that a coin as the same supply as Bitcoin and also start with the same letter does not mean they are both the same coin and if fails to see the difference then he's bound to Losing his money to scam very soon.

While for the coin been displayed in national TV does not mean anything it only means the coin has bought the advert space and now it's been displayed if another coin should pay for the space next time the space is free that coin that paid newly will be displayed while that mean the new coin is now Bitcoin? Just sit your friend down and talk some sense into him and if he fails to listen be cautious while you're around him so that he won't start selling those his wrong ideology to you.

Some people tends to play ignorant even when you give them advice, Bficoin has nothing to do with Bitcoin. They are two separate coins even though they have the same max supply. Advertising Bficoin on national tv doesn't mean that it is a legit and Bitcoin is a scam. It was only used for that special occasion because it sponsored that tv show. Other coins can equally do the same, its a means of letting the general public know about such coins in precise. You have done or played your part in telling him the difference but if he insist on his own then leave him be.it would be a loss on his own part.

These are some ways to make people fool and there are really some people or say complete newbies who will not be able to distinguish between the actual btc and this shit coin or whatsoever. But if you can't make these difference you are at complete fault. They have tried to cap the supply also at 21M which clearly shows they want to cash grab people's investment in any way possible by linking the name to bitcoin but be sure you look closely at these shit coins.

That's really dumb logic.
Any shitcoin with a big enough advertising budget can be shown on national TV. Marketing in itself cannot prove the legitimacy of anything.
I guess that your friend is delusional. Bitcoin is NOT a company(or a product) and there's no need to be advertised, as if it's a product or a company. Many crypto companies are advertising themselves (just like Crypto.com on the last World Cup), no crypto company would pay for an advertisement that says "Buy Bitcoin!".
This Bficoin clearly has nothing to do with Bitcoin. It's not even a forked version of BTC, like BCH or BSV.
The names Bitcoin and Bficoin don't even sound similar. I'm surprised that somebody could be fooled into thinking that Bficoin is Bitcoin.

Sometimes we faced serious arguments with thos folks who do not understand anything about Bitcoin,  but just falsehoods being sold to them by the media and streamers so you are not alone in this and what I do must time os to caution those around me that cares to listen and make corrections.

But those that choose to be adamant about whatever
The information they got concerning Bitcoin and are convinced of the falsehood I let them be with time and experience will teach them a lesson, good enough Bitcoin is not a network funding scheme so I have nothing to gain wasting my time educating gullible individuals.

It is very easy to detect the difference between Bitcoin and BFicoin,  who the hell fell for this? They can easily fall for BiCoin, Bytcoin, and others, this is simple idiocy,  even as a crypto newbie it is stupid not to be able to tell the difference unless you don't have any level of education,  sorry OP,  this is unacceptable.

The whole story is just proof of how much influence the media has on the average person who has "heard" about Bitcoin, and in fact cannot make a clear difference between Bitcoin and all other cryptocurrencies that in some way imitate the same, whether it is about max supply or they just have a name starting with B.

I don't like to interfere in other people's decisions when it comes to finances, but I would definitely warn everyone that this is not the Bitcoin they may be thinking of. However, if someone really wants to invest in altcoins, it is his decision and we should respect that decision. I know some people who bought BTC forks and still keep them today, but I guess it's a good feeling to have one whole Bitcoin, no matter what it was called and how meaningless it was.

Your friends should be able to tell the difference between BFIC and Bitcoin or BTC because the difference is obvious from the letters and pronunciation.
And you've also made it clear that it's a different coin with a different purpose and market ranking.
But if your friend doesn't want to accept your explanation, you shouldn't force him and let him see what will happen with BFIC.
At least that's what I do when I run into a friend who won't accept my explanation and it's up to them to decide.
So there's nothing wrong with thinking like that. It's just that he will see the truth later at the bull run.

What some people do is to use the brand name of btc to attract attention in the process to advertise their own interest, they sometimes make comparisons to equate their own project as being thesame with bitcoin since they all fall under crypto, they have enough distractions confusing enough from believing that they are not bitcoin or associated with Satoshi, this are the things we should always be careful about, especially the newbies in this bitcoin era.

There are indeed many ordinary people who view cryptocurrencies as bitcoins, and these coins use ordinary people to deceive them, considering that currently bitcoiners are only a small minority of most people. therefore for ourselves personally it would be better to learn beforehand to know something even in everything, so that we have broad insight and do not fall into deception using various modes, and if our friends insist on their stance, then let it go , because in the end they will realize it themselves, at least we reminded them

I don't know — but there's a clear distinction between bitcoin and bfiCoin. If a person doesn't see the difference between the two, then he's bound to lose money in this industry.

I agree with @mk4, there's only one daddy bitcoin. There's a million other clones, scams, and traps that are disguised as the real thing just for the intention of taking money from innocent people thinking it's a safe vehicle of investment. It's really sad actually.

P.S. If someone's profession is soccer, some other sport, making music, or entertaining people online, and they try to get you to buy anything other than a legitimate market leading coin, RUN. Run as fast away as you can and tell everyone you know that your favorite online/television personality or sports player is now a scammer. I bet you every single person in OP's picture has no idea what the heck bfiCoin even is. They are just being told to stand in front of the sign I'd imagine.

The difference is very clear but their are some person that don't pay attention to details. The sound and the spelling looks somehow alike and many uninformed persons might be deceived. In my country many people have been misinformed and scammed because some set of fraudulent individual choose to clone a particular product making it look like the original. Many shitcoins promoters claim that their coins are the same or even better than Bitcoin. That's why I always encourage anyone that engage in Bitcoin awarenesses projects because we really need them. We need to keep spreading the news of Bitcoin until it becomes a household name globally.

One of my friend told me that he has heard about bitcoin as it is being advertised in that tournament and he asked me if he should buy Bitcoin as it was advertised in PSL ?

Was this the first time your friend hears about Bitcoin or you have discussed it before? I am curious because if he is hearing about it for the first time then why is he coming to you to discuss what he has never known before instead of asking for clarification of what it is Huh Definitely, newbies to the crypto space could make these mistakes especially when they don't take the time to first know even though they are quite DIFFERENT.

In this case, I personally don't think so. If you check their website, it doesn't seem to be trying to copy Bitcoin at all. And if they wanted to be masquerading as the "real" Bitcoin, they could literally pick other names like the hundreds of Bitcoin shit forks we have.

Maybe he just thought about the last part of hearing 'coin' on BFICoin as bitcoin but nonetheless, hearing both of it really can be determined the difference between the two.
Well, forget about that argument and just let your friend believe what he wants to believe as soon it will be dumped with what it has something to do with the advertisement. I don't know why but I have this feeling that this coin might collapse soon. Looking at coinmarketcap with its name as "Best Fintech Investment Coin" https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/best-fintech-investment-coin/

Well then crypto isn't for him obviously if he has no idea about bitcoin. Recently there are so many shitcoins advertised and promoted by influencers out there, and your friend might be a victim , then blaming crypto as a big fraud. Though it's not hard for him to google the info himself about the difference between bitcoin and othercoin but instead he argued it to you. I checked if there is a bficointalk.org but luckily found none lol.

Actually, they were advertising the Bficoin BFIC coin to which my friend thought that it was bitcoin.  Sad I told him that this is not real bitcoin but he insisted that I was wrong. I told him that bitcoin has 21 million supply and he told that this coin also had the same supply
Bficoin? bitcoin? both sound alike and can be confusing to newbies who may just think it is a typo. It reminds me of how people in my country copy the design of original products from companies and use very similar names that they may just change a letter in the spelling to ensure that people who do not look well before buying make mistake of thinking those products are the original.

He was of the view that since BFIC was advertised on national TV, it is a real coin and Bitcoin is just a clone or a scam.  Sad
He was not agreeing with me as he said if bitcoin was real, then it would have been showing at the PSL matches and not this coin.
Scammers can spend money to ensure that they get victims. An advertisement of National TV should not still be trusted, you must always do your own research.

In my case, I'll just tell my friend the difference, give him link and other references.  I will advise him to do a deeper research, and if after all the explanation and showing proof, my friend don't believe me and insist on the things he know then I'll just let him be.  There is no need to push the truth to anyone who is in denial of the fact.  At least I have done my part of informing him the difference between BFIC and BTC.

Actually, they were advertising the Bficoin BFIC coin to which my friend thought that it was bitcoin.  Sad I told him that this is not real bitcoin but he insisted that I was wrong. I told him that bitcoin has 21 million supply and he told that this coin also had the same supply

there is a huge difference, they don't sound alike bi-fi-coin sounds different from Bit-coin.  Even its ticker is way different see. BFIC - BTC.
He was of the view that since BFIC was advertised on national TV, it is a real coin and Bitcoin is just a clone or a scam.  Sad

We can't tell that the coin is a scam, the thing that it promoted itself on a mass media platform says that the project plans to be legit. But I think @OP's friend is trolling him, since there is a huge different on price between BFIC and BTC.  So anyone will never think that BFIC is Bitcoin.

Your friend wants to invest in a coin because he saw it advertised on TV, that is not how to invest in cryptocurrencies because there are many scam coins being advertised everywhere, even on TV, he believes what he is watching is real because he saw it on TV, and not because he did any research. This person would surely lose money if they eventually invest in any crypto at all, it is obvious they don't know what they are doing.

I think it is only in crypto you can see people investing without knowing what they are doing because they think crypto was created to make them rich, i don't think you will see people buy stocks without knowing the particular one they are buying, but your friend wants to buy something he thinks is BTC because its name ends with "coin".

Looking at the website, it seems the developer has no intention to create fake Bitcoin project because the project discuss about ETH layer 2 solution. It's a clear difference, maybe your friend just really new with crypto space, so whenever he heard or see about any coin, he will think it's a Bitcoin. Just like how people always refer a fried chicken to KFC. He just need to learn from the basic, he might learn after he make a mistake too.

Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks

Kind of confusing? Maybe for some who are not attentive enough to make a research or not looking at it twice.

I mean even a newbie knows the spelling of Bitcoin right? The project is a different project and that's based on Ethereum blockchain. I don't know why your friend sees Bficoin as Bitcoin? Does your friend having a hard time reading the same word twice? Maybe teach your friend to read the same word twice.

~
Scammers can spend money to ensure that they get victims. An advertisement of National TV should not still be trusted, you must always do your own research.
I remember FTX with this one. Cheesy

Spending huge amounts of money thru advertisements. They also spend some money giving donations to the politicians in the last elections. They even changed American Airlines Arena into FTX Arena. Ending? SBF scammed the users, the advertisers and all that is connected to the exchange.

many parties want to take advantage by deceiving other people, most of them use tricks with big profits so many people are tricked with big profits, even people are willing to spend money buying scam coins in the hope that they will get a profit in the future, therefore do not be careless in drawing conclusions, learn and understand so that you are not easily swayed by the lure of big profits.

Most newbies are ignorant. They don't like to listen to the truth. At times, when I explained a little and I see that they are not listening, I will just ignore them and stop talking.
This is why most of them get scammed. They want cheap things and they look for fast money also. Whenever I see any one who listen, I always try not to make them regret in any way.

This is how the young generation can easily get detracked because of a lack of knowledge. I was really sad to see people don't want to accept reality or even research.

It's a sad truth, but I won't mourn those people. If they get scammed and lose money, they deserve it because they are too lazy to research before investing. You don't have to try to explain it to them, losing money will teach them a lesson, a lesson they will never forget. Sometimes free knowledge does not bring any value, but when they spend money, they will appreciate it.

This type of thing happened plenty of times before, it happened in my nation as well. There was a scammer who was selling securities based on bitcoin, like you wouldn't be actually buying bitcoin, you would be buying what they claim worths one bitcoin, so technically speaking you would pay them a bitcoin worths money and they promise that if the price of bitcoin goes up, you can still cash out.

Obviously that was a ponzi, and that ended up being something quite terrible at the same time because people lost nearly 80 million dollars to that guy. These type of things happens all around the world and unfortunately not that uncommon for many people to fall for it.

I'm sorry but your friend doesn't seem very bright. He refuses to believe that Bitcoin is Bitcoin and thinks something called Bficoin is actually Bitcoin? Even after you explained it to him he still doesn't understand? No offense but your friend seems like the kind of person that isn't smart enough to invest his own money. Sounds like the kind of person that scammers love.

I think the main point is to misdirect the people and I know this type of abuse caters towards a certain type of audience and investor but this is just too funny. Imagine being fucked over by a letter exchanged and then switched out. You're basically phished by the project founders at that point. Then again, OP is right, newbies should always be wary not only of how they navigate across the internet but with whatever they put their money into as well. In cases like BFICoin there's the possibility you may mistake it for bitcoin or a different coin for a different bluechip crypto. Just proper awareness, knowledge, and common sense to avoid becoming a victim of things like these. Still though, if BFIcoin isn't a rugpull project I think the peeps who mistook it for bitcoin could still cash in on some profit after all.

They are not a fraud, lol. They weren't pretending to be any coins. Bificoin is the unusual name they choose. Obviously, it differs from Bitcoin. That your friend doesn't believe in you is plain foolish. Even he doesn't need to have faith in you because everyone can read. No worries if your friend actually purchased real Bitcoin and believes it to be bitcoin. It doesn't matter if he bought Bificoin, it's a altcoin. I don't understand how this might be confusing.

In 2017, I became interested in cryptocurrency and registered on the bitcointalk forum.

At that time, all crypto enthusiasts were discussing the upcoming bitcoin hard fork.  None of us was sure that Bitcoin (the first cryptocurrency) would not split into two equivalent coins, each of which could claim the title of Real Bitcoin.

Fortunately, this did not happen.  However, bitcoin clones have emerged, such as Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin Gold, and many others....

But in fact, there is only one bitcoin!  It's BTC!  All other bitcoins are impostors!

Especially if the coin is called BFICoin....

I cannot be one to argue about the validity of the known Bitcoin which is BTC, with someone who thinks otherwise or has a name that is thought to be real one.  My knowledge came from the need to diversify funds and seek better investment and profit earning platforms.
When I see or read of such shit coins that bears a semblance in name to the real deal, I just shake my head and empathize with those who might fall prey and loose their investment.
It is wise for persons to be able to properly identify logos and symbols too, incase the names might be confusing as is the case of your friend, OP.

and he asked me if he should buy Bitcoin as it was advertised in PSL ?

He was of the view that since BFIC was advertised on national TV, it is a real coin and Bitcoin is just a clone or a scam.  Sad
He was not agreeing with me as he said if bitcoin was real, then it would have been showing at the PSL matches and not this coin.

LOL, but wow 😳.. you mean he said, "If Bitcoin was real, it should be advertised like Bficoin was?" That is to say, there are really people who are so badly unaware of Bitcoin. Even when I encounter some customers asking me some dumb questions about Bitcoin, I ask myself, Are these people in this world or are they from another planet? I guess the Bficoin project is probably supporting PLS; that's why it steadily gets advertised there. So you can start by explaining to your friend that the Bitcoin he took to be Bitcoin is just supporting PLS; that's why it gets advertised there; or if you know other reasons why, you can explain them to him. Make sure to let him know that the Bificoin is not the Bitcoin he thinks, and if he/she likes, he can listen to you or do what's on their mind, but already he has sought your advice on whether he should invest in the coin, so I hope you advise him not to buy that coin.

Bficoin seems to be a project developed in 2021; their Twitter page was created in 2021; the ATL and ATH of the coin were in the same year, 2021. So your friend has got to decide between Bitcoin and Bficoin who copied who; lol, that's just funny to me.

I don't know — but there's a clear distinction between bitcoin and bfiCoin. If a person doesn't see the difference between the two, then he's bound to lose money in this industry.

Especially if the coin is called BFICoin....
must be very careful with the selection of coins so as not to go wrong. bficoin is not bitcoin in cryptocurrency, don't let us get complacent, so we buy the wrong coin. the consequences are very fatal, it could happen that we will lose all of our capital. actually it's not difficult to find bitcoin, but for those who don't understand it, of course it will be difficult if you are not careful. many coins with the same name, but bitcoin is just 1 which is commonly called BTC

many parties want to take advantage by deceiving other people, most of them use tricks with big profits so many people are tricked with big profits, even people are willing to spend money buying scam coins in the hope that they will get a profit in the future, therefore do not be careless in drawing conclusions, learn and understand so that you are not easily swayed by the lure of big profits.
It seems that since the past fraud with the aim of taking advantage at all costs has been carried out but since a few years it has gotten out of control. It's no longer unusual that at any time we can see the behavior of fraudsters in an increasing variety of ways, and it's surprising that many still experience this fraud.
new projects grow a lot by giving unfair profits and it should already be known that this is impossible, but there are still those who buy. when the coin was launched, the price was very worthless, not even a few ran away without a trace.
that's why now it's rarely seen and lonely with new projects because the response that wants to invest has been much reduced. hopefully in the future there will be a better movement like in 2017.
agree with you not to hesitate before buying to study and listen to information from other colleagues, so as not to draw conclusions and analyzes that are actually different from most of the others.

There are many people in crypto today who don't recognize the Bitcoin logo well. And they get cheated by seeing the logo of fake bitcoin and investing. Now it is seen that there are various advertisements using the name of Bitcoin, there are many unknown people who invest in what they think is Bitcoin. Eventually they get scammed so know well and invest carefully to avoid such scams.

~snip~

This is how the young generation can easily get detracked because of a lack of knowledge. I was really sad to see people don't want to accept reality or even research.

Yeah I agree, nowadays young people are really easy to be tricked by small differences. Maybe he insists to say that Bitcoin because he sees the potential of that coin  Tongue Maybe surpassing Bitcoin? Well, the difference between that coin and Bitcoin is already visible, its name, its price, its popularity, etc.

Just leave him with his stance because no matter how you explain it, he still won't accept it. I guess he doesn't know much about crypto so he assumes that bitcoin is not real and bficoin is real. You can't force him to believe even to make him realize his mistake. But you can still explain to him that what he believes is wrong and bficoin is not bitcoin.

You will see what will happen to him and if it is later proven, you should not blame him because he is against you; it will only prolong the problem. He will regret not doing what you say when he realises his mistake.

Not that I see it was a trick but a person can read and know Bitcoin, it is impossible he got fooled into investing in other projects that he presume it was also Bitcoin. I'm not sure if newbies would still fall into a such thing because I know that they are also doing research prior to investing in crypto. If someone will invest bfiCoin, it was their choice, not because they'll think that they are still investing in Bitcoin. If that could be a mistake, I don't know if they were able to read it carefully or not.

I see why a company would choose a confusing name and Bitcoin's supply, as they probably rely on people mixing it up with Bitcoin and/or investing because of believing that crypto is a big thing, without differentiating between coins. Companies like that benefit from the lack of regulations of the altcoin market, as I believe in other fields that would be called unfair competition and misleading behaviour and might be a punishable offence. But since Bitcoin isn't a company or a trademark, and altcoins are regulated more loosely, people can do all sorts of things.
Those who say Bitcoin and Bficoin can be told apart are correct, but it's the same with Adidas and Abibas/Adibas, and yet the latter is frowned upon if not considered illegal.

The difference between both coins are clear, both in spelling and price value, of which even a new born baby can testify to that. Because since Bitcoin is a very popular project, the developers of this coin "bficoin" must have used a similar name, so as to lure people into investing in their coin, and at such campaign through football sponsorship, hence, making ignorant newbies believe it's the true Bitcoin, whereas, it's just a shitcoin.

However, I'm happy you were there to enlighten your friend on the difference between both coins, because just as the price value of "bficoin" is currently $18.5, the current price of Bitcoin is $21,488

True, even a simple read up and using up your own common sense could be able to tell on whats the main difference and you wouldn't really be that blind nor really that dumb on not to notice it out.  Grin
If you are a noob which did really make out some mistake then for sure on next time you would really be that aware because we know that experience is the best teacher and out of those errors and mistakes
are the things which would really make you that learn. Its not necessary for you to commit out some mistakes which you could eventually be able to avoid if you are really that
reading up others experiences.

Maybe it looks primitive but many people believe and even deny that it is not bitcoin. We also can't force them not to believe that it's not bitcoin because they already feel confident about it. The only thing that could change that was when they saw how the project wasn't doing well and how bitcoin could become more popular. At that point, they're just starting to wonder what the truth is and if they dive straight into it, they'll find that what they believed all along was wrong and not bitcoin. If that had happened to me, I would have walked away from it and wouldn't force it and let them figure it out alone.

But for newbie who doesn't have knowledgeable person beside them this new information to read is kinda bit confusing especially when searching it up on media platform for sure they will lead to hyip or many ponzi schemes which offer to good to be true returns if they invest using bitcoins.

But if they know how to digest the learnings thru their experiences maybe they can learn a lot from those things.

why is he sure that it is bitcoin, while the advertisement clearly says BFICoin? if the ad only showed the logo, I think it might happen, but by advertising BFICoin, people wouldn't spell BFICoin as bitcoin. you know what i mean.
However, your friend needs a very deep education for this. I'm pretty sure that if a project names their coin with the name bitcoin 3.0 or a name with elements of bitcoin, and has a total supply of 21 million coins, then he or she will probably feel that it's the next generation of bitcoin.
