As there are only 3 translations left, I've just added to the list the last topic you proposed, so the members who want can go ahead with it. I'm sorry for the Pidgin translators (again) as it seems that someone has taken the lead again.

Linked to that, please, take the following into account before translating:

As a fist step everyone should check the OP and previous announcements to check in how many languages the article have been already translated or it is going to be translated. Doing translation is a complex, time consuming and requires a considerable effort. Doing the same translation means double work and I hate the double work.

Hey DS, yes you're right, it is not urgent but we should update our local OPs with these changes.

Yes, the order is based on merits. But, although the merits get automatically updated, the position of each member has to be updated by hand. So this is another think to take into account when updating the local OPs: you've got more merits than the member before you, thus, you should be moved to his left.

Funny, I was thinking last week that AOBT should propose a SimpleX/Telegram group (so this thread doesn't get spammed and to potentially get a quicker response from translators) in which messages could be sent to AOBT translators to be translated, so we could reply in certain local sections when we want.

For example I could send in this group a message like "please translate to Portuguese : "happy new year to all our friends from Portugal and Brazil!"" and get a -more or less- quick translation which suits the forum's policies/requirements.

There could be a system of optional tips, translators could indicate a BTC address in their profile on the forum for example + it could help AOBT to be more known on the forum.

I don't know how many people would be interested in such a system (either users or translators) but personally I'd love to see it. If there's interest in the idea, I'm willing to devote time to creating/managing such a group if needed.

That's a great idea. Some members of the forum got hired to translate a few messages from advertisers in their local boards in the past, but it would be also a good initiative to open this possibility for free for everyone who punctually wants to post short texts in a foreign board not relying exclusively on the machine, and instant messaging apps like Telegram could provide the necessary speed of response.

I also wonder if many users could be interested in that system, but as a translator, count on me

Or they could just use a translator and declare at the bottom with a sidenote that "I'm not a local and am using translator tools to respond here". I am saying that from my own personal experience. I have been doing this from time to time in different language sections.

Surely nobody would mind, if anyone asked a member of AOBT to help with a translation or a response. But it's a matter of availability/urgency. Finding us at the right moment can be tough. All of us are in different time zones. And by the time we respond, one might have replied on his own using a translator!

I have some concerns here! Choosing which method to pass the response can be tricky.

For example, I have used simpleX before, and from what I have experienced, it has some bugs/glitches/issues! Data corruption, backup issues, syncing problems, delayed notifications, and all sorts of things! I understand in terms of privacy/anonymity, simpleX is the best app out there! But you have to understand not all of us use SimpleX or are comfortable using it. I am not using it at this moment, so I don't know whether the previous bugs have been fixed or not!

For telegram, I have no problem with that! I know it is filled with scammers, but if one has a fresh account with zero groups or activity, he doesn't have to fear anything. Another issue is that not all of us use Telegram, as far as I know, Gazeta doesn't!

Discord can also be a good choice. For managing a small community, Discord seems like the optimal choice. We could create different channels within the server! Lobby, general discussion, translations, announcement, Q&A, FAQ, etc.

Logically, since I was the one who asked the question, I think it makes sense to agree with the idea.

Of course, as @DYING_S0UL commented, for short or urgent matters, sometimes it is not possible to wait for the Alliance translator. It may take a while, and there may be no waiting time.
Now, for something not very urgent but equally relevant, it might be interesting to have a way to help.

I have just finished translating the last proposed topic: Everything you wanted to know about Bitcoin Strategic Reserve, and it seems that the info contained on it is especially interesting due to its importance and topicality; so, although may seem a bit difficult to translate at first, I encourage you to make a little effort in the first three sections, as you'll see that the remaining five are very easily done.

Porf  , Sorry to say but it is indeed a difficult topic to be translated. Given your experience and expertise in the translation business, it may somehow seem like a " not so difficult one". I have given this topic enough time, read it many times, and found there are some complex words that I have never used in my entire life (I do understand what the topic is about). New day new things to learn  . I was feeling discouraged at some point. Currently I have one pending translation, after I finish that, I will think of it. Regardless, I am a bit hesitant about this topic. Not sure whether I can do this or will my ability let me. Even if we did, I'm sure it'll cost us many nights and massive hard work and effort. And of course we volunteered to do that when we joined the gang.

Since nobody knows, I was the one who originally proposed that topic to Porf via PM. But I'm guessing there has been some kind of mis-communications here. When I made the proposal, what I really meant was that, we should use that specific topic to look for potential topics for translations. We wouldn't have to look elsewhere. Would have save us some time. I never wanted that topic in our list of topics to be translated. Honestly, there was nothing, translatable, but only links and links..
