For the past few days now, I've read and also written on some threads talking about how difficult it is for countries to adopt crypto and in one of the threads Here It was also pointed out that Bitcoin adoption in El Salvador failed because it was forced on the people.
On the other hand, I think if the mindset of seeing Bitcoin as a legal tender rather than an investment or a get rich scheme will go a long way to aid the global adoption of Bitcoin.
What do you think could aid the adoption of Bitcoin?
Let's discuss please

Talking about Bukele’s policy in El Salvador, I feel people that are against his policies or his administration are the ones painting his idea of having bitcoin a legal tender bad. It is purely politics and I don’t think it was forced on them.

The government definitely will be a big role in the global adoption of bitcoin by making it a legal tender. When it is a legal tender or even free from ban people will use more of it and through the process it will attract more investors towards it. But if the government placed a ban on it, it definitely has its toll on people mostly older generations as they tend to run off from everything illegal and this could reduce the rate of global adoption.

I do agree with you that Bitcoin doesn't have to be a legal tender of some country for people to see it a been accepted globally. Even now we have seen or read about investments spread across the globe accepting Bitcoin as payments even if the Government of that country hasn't pronounced it a legal tender, but I must say that crypto in general has been globally recognized or adopted, The 2022 Global Crypto Adoption Index and you know we cannot really speak crypto without Bitcoin.

Like NdaMk, I wouldn't call Bitcoin adoption forced upon people in El Salvador (although you could say it was forced on the merchants, maybe), and I don't think it was obligatory to use it, and they still use the USD as their other legal tender. But in some countries, where digital literary and Internet penetration is low, whereas the poverty rate is high, people may not care about things like Bitcoin and may find it unnecessarily hard to rely on anything aside from cash. So I think what can help, apart from the things like a $30 bonus and the legal framework that was implemented in El Salvador, is an educational campaign and business partnerships (the state convincing businesses to accept Bitcoin rather than requiring it), as well as highlighting the economic benefits and ensuring that people are easily able to use Bitcoin.

Citizens of El Salvador we're not forced but rather enticed to use Bitcoin with a $30 bonus when the register on a certain platform. While they the platform to claim the bonus was mandatory and merchants were herded towards using that platform as well, the option to use or not use Bitcoin was optional.

What do you think could aid the adoption of Bitcoin?
• More merchants adopt it,
• Purchasing becomes much easier and Bitcoin ATMs become more popular,
• Price stability or reduction in volatility.

I wish we could enticed I'm such a way rather than fustrating the users of Bitcoin over here in my country and you did well in your explanation and I also agree with the points you listed about getting Bitcoin adopted globally and I think having more Marchants is key as it will ease the buying and selling of Bitcoin and also having the machines globally distributed will be the best.

But in some countries, where digital literary and Internet penetration is low, whereas the poverty rate is high, people may not care about things like Bitcoin and may find it unnecessarily hard to rely on anything aside from cash.

This is truly evident in my country and I saw how much the people suffered during the last month of cash scarcity as people couldn't use their money since cash wasn't available and the network signal was so poor and I had to relate this to ease of Bitcoin acceptance and I think my country might be one of the least countries to adopt Bitcoin.

It is too early to judge El Salvador's experience of adopting Bitcoin as a failure, as the experiment is still in its infancy, and Bitcoin is still in its infancy.

In general, new inventions take a long time for people to accept, adopt, and get used to using them, and introduce them to the many features that greatly improve their lives.

The first and most important factor for bitcoin to get global adoption is for people to look at bitcoin as a currency, not as an investment. When people start looking at bitcoin as a safe, easy, and decentralized way of peer-to-peer payment and stop looking at the rise and fall of the price, then we are ready for global adoption.

Different rules, but the beauty of Bitcoin is that despite a nation's disposition to Bitcoin and self custody, they cannot stop one from creating a wallet and funding it with bitcoins, they can only make the purchase process more difficult or illegal.

I would rather not have an enticement or limitation, governments should just stay out of Bitcoin investments.

Much beyond that calling for legalization of Bitcoin in different jurisdictions, we can also support those merchants who have openly embraced Bitcoin as a way to make their businesses grow, if we encourage more people to take Bitcoin for their goods and services, then it would be just matter of time before more jurisdictions and big players started to notice it.

If the number of independent merchants is big, then the negative measures or banning of Bitcoin would be a highly unpopular decision by politicians.

What do you think could aid the adoption of Bitcoin?

For Bitcoin to get more adoption, it must become all-around better than its competition. Simply being better in one aspect, like being resistant to inflation won't cut it. Because people don't choose their money based on only one parameter.

Bitcoin needs to become stable and not fluctuate by more than a few percent over a quarter. That's why the world still uses USD and not Bitcoin - it's better to predictably lose some 2-8% of your value in a year than to risk losing 50% in one month with Bitcoin - the latter makes economic planning nearly impossible.

Lightning network needs to be perfectly stable and free of bugs and vulnerabilites so it can be used for small transactions, since on-chain is increasingly more unsuitable for that purpose.

And lastly, Bitcoin requires a culture of good computer use literacy - losing your coins to mistakes is too easy. And despite everyone living in digital world these days, the levels of computer literacy are not improving, as people use simple one-click solutions like phone apps rather than tinkering with command line, OS settings, registry editors and so on.

I don't think BTC in El Salvador failed. If it worked in Nigeria, it will work in smaller countries like El Salvador. USD was also forced on this country and they have no choice but with BTC, they already have a choice. After learning that IMF hates Bukele for adopting BTC, we are already aware that there will be news that will paint Bukele as to fail but he did pay off the country's debt to IMF.

What might trigger global BTC adoption is the bank failures that had happened recently with Silvergate, SVB, and Signature bank. When people couldn't get their money back from the bank they deposit, depositors will not trust banks.

You're right that they can only make the purchasing process difficult and they've also succeeded in doing so in my country but no matter how hard they try, it wouldn't be a success because I know Bitcoin is here to stay.

If the number of independent merchants is big, then the negative measures or banning of Bitcoin would be a highly unpopular decision by politicians.

That's true because this is really work especially in developing countries where the right of their citizens are valued and respected and in a country like mine where the leaders don't even have any respect for human rights and opinions and they don't even respect court orders.
Even if the Marchants are upto millions, the government of my country cab just suddenly wake up one morning and decide to stop or ban Bitcoin forgetting that they're rendering alot of physical Marchants jobless..
I really look forward to the day Bitcoin vets accepted in my country.

I don't think BTC in El Salvador failed. If it worked in Nigeria, it will work in smaller countries like El Salvador.

Did Bitcoin work in Nigeria?
I don't think so because every Bitcoin related activities are done in disguise and I don't think people openly use Bitcoin and I don't also think Bitcoin will get accepted if banks fail because we've seen alot of banks fail in my country and even recently, there was high scarcity of cash which was one of banks major failure but I never saw people turning into adopting crypto (Bitcoin) but one still has to convert it to Fiat before using except you want to face the charges which isn't small when converted to my local currency.

Sure, it is a long way to go but to say that it's failed on El Salvador as a legal tender, IMHO is too early to say. Yeah, it was like a few years ago already and even if there have been residents that's too annoyed with its forced adoption, if you're from there and can tell based on your experience that it's a failed adoption then I might believe.

What do you think could aid the adoption of Bitcoin?
Let's discuss please
Well, it's very positive as much as what we can see today. Before it wasn't like this and there's no overwhelming reaction from those that don't know what bitcoin is.

But if you'll ask someone if he doesn't know bitcoin, you may get a feeling that they like to have it if you explain the little details of it and if they get a background of the idea that it's a cryptocurrency, a payment method and an asset too.

There is nothing there to aid the adoption, the believe Bitcoin is already speaking for it's self and it's believer (we bitcoiners) are already users of it. We don't need necessarily don't need any Big announcement or any kind from a world government. To me Bitcoin is already globally accepted, we can't count 20 countries countries currently without having about 16 out of 20 countries making use of Bitcoin in one way or the other even without their governments approval.
What's else do we need for it to be called global adoption?

Nayib Bukele only promoted Bitcoin and never enforced it on El Salvador. Although his experimentation on Bitcoin as legal tender failed due to the declining market but yet the US Dollar was also adopted along side Bitcoin as legal tender abandoning their local currency the  colón. Which gave its citizens two choices to make either spend their Dollar or spend their Bitcoin equally on any commodity. I am thinking the enticing offer of Bitcoin lured the citizens.

Bitcoin been a legal tender or an investment offer cannot make the world adopt it as a global currency. Not when they cannot control your funds. El Salvador felt Bitcoin could salvage their dieing economy. And since El Salvador experimentation didn't work out many nations will see it as a reason not to look at Bitcoin as a legal tender

I get your point mate be the truth is that we users can't make Bitcoin a legal tender and if Bitcoin is banned in a country, then whoever is found using it might be tag as enemy of the state for disobeying government and might even get penalized.
On the other hand, what we're really pushing for is the general acceptance of Bitcoin in the country  and world in general so we wouldn't have to move in fear when holding Bitcoin but rather be free if it's a legal tender
No matter how successful Bitcoin might be, we still need the approval of the government so as to be able to use Bitcoin freely without any hesitation.

Aid is people shouldn't be forced to use Bitcoin. El Salvador did great by making Bitcoin a legal Tender. But they somehow force citizens to use Bitcoin which isn't a good idea at all. We have to encourage new people about Bitcoin but can't force it. El Salvador is over-excited about Bitcoin. We like mass adaption as well. But there are some limitations where the government is centralized. For real adaptation, we have to make Bitcoin usable everywhere. This means besides fiat, Bitcoin payment options should be available. So every day more people will be introduced to and use Bitcoin as well.

I think if the mindset of seeing Bitcoin as a legal tender rather than an investment or a get rich scheme will go a long way to aid the global adoption of Bitcoin.

legal tender, which means it is generally accepted as payment for business as well. But,  OP, even if Bitcoin is seen as a means of investment, that doesn't mean it will decrease the rate of adoption. The adoption of Bitcoin will increase over time as people keep talking about it. IMO...this probably sounds really dumb, but IMO simplest thing to increase adoption would be to start stating price and value in satoshi's...I think most people who hear the word 'bitcoin' and don't know anything about it already assume it is out of their reach. If they only knew they could buy in for less than a dollar I bet we'd see more widespread adoption...

On the other hand, I think if the mindset of seeing Bitcoin as a legal tender rather than an investment or a get rich scheme will go a long way to aid the global adoption of Bitcoin.
You don't need legal tender to use Bitcoin and exchange it with others. You only need it is not prohibited legally and it is enough for you to find people who accept Bitcoin or business that accepts Bitcoin to exchange your Bitcoin for their fiat currencies, altcoins or products.

Like in El Salvador, legal tender does not bring too many people to Bitcoin and does not create natural adoption in that nation.

Quote
What do you think could aid the adoption of Bitcoin?
Let it grows naturally and avoid to shill it as a Get-rich asset that sounds too good to be true. The more you talk about something is too good to be true, the more hesitation and doubt people will have against it.

My hope is blockchain technology will be developed and applied more in society. By its consequences, Bitcoin will get benefit of the growth of blockchain technology.

Even if bitcoin is still in its infancy, and El Salvador accepted it as a legal tender just two years ago, it cannot be called a failure. Just like we have been holding bitcoins for 2 years and still have not made a profit, it cannot be said that our investment has failed.

If we compare the history of fiat and bitcoin or other traditional assets, it is clear that bitcoin is a kid compared to old men. We should not rush, it takes time for people to gradually know and accept bitcoin.

I doubt this possibility because, in my opinion, 90-95% of people enter the market for profit and not because of bitcoin's superior technology. Even if we are talking about bitcoin price per day, how can someone treat bitcoin as a currency while we are not?

Increased awareness and education: Bitcoin is still a relatively new concept for many people, and there is a need for greater awareness and education about its benefits and risks. As more people become aware of the advantages of Bitcoin, such as its ability to facilitate fast and low-cost cross-border transactions, its adoption is likely to increase.

Greater regulatory clarity: Many countries are still grappling with how to regulate cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, and there is a need for greater regulatory clarity to provide a framework for businesses and individuals to use Bitcoin without fear of legal repercussions. Clear and consistent regulations can also help to build trust in the cryptocurrency and encourage more widespread adoption.

Improvements in technology: The Bitcoin network is still in its early stages and there is room for improvement in terms of scalability, security, and ease of use. As technology continues to advance and new solutions are developed to address these challenges, Bitcoin is likely to become more user-friendly and accessible to a wider audience.

Support from major institutions: The support of major institutions, such as banks, financial institutions, and governments, can help to legitimize Bitcoin and increase its adoption. As more institutions begin to integrate Bitcoin into their operations, it is likely that more people will become comfortable using the cryptocurrency.

Stable prices and less volatility: Bitcoin is known for its high volatility, which can deter many people from using it as a medium of exchange or store of value. If the price of Bitcoin becomes more stable and less volatile, it could help to increase its adoption by making it a more reliable and predictable asset

Of course it's important. But most of us use Bitcoin as an investment. There are some people who invest in Bitcoin without knowing well about it and do corruption through Bitcoin, make illegal transactions through Bitcoin. Because of which the government can't know anything and can't stop it, which leads to the collapse of Bitcoin. If we use bitcoin as a currency and securely transact bitcoin it will be ready for global adoption.

I disagree that bitcoin adoption in El Salvador failed. It's been legalized only for more than a year. And it's not like fiat money in El Salvador is discontinued and bitcoin is the replacement. Fiat money is still there in El Salvador so bitcoin is legalized but more like an option. It is still growing and we are in a bear market so what do we expect for a currency that is so volatile? Give it time bro before calling the bitcoin adoption in El Salvador a failure. Its economy is not doing well in the first place so that also means doubts when it comes to global investments. But generally, El Salvador did a good job of accepting bitcoin as a legal tender and soon it will reap its benefits. The country just needs to stabilize its economy a bit and upgrade its transportation, security, and internet speed in order for investors and even ordinary people to start investing and traveling to El Salvador.

legal tender, which means it is generally accepted as payment for business as well. But,  OP, even if Bitcoin is seen as a means of investment, that doesn't mean it will decrease the rate of adoption. The adoption of Bitcoin will increase over time as people keep talking about it. The government of a country has to make crypto legal in their country before citizens think of accepting it for payment.

You're right mate but don't you think one of the major reasons why government find it difficult to legalize the use of Bitcoin is the wrong concept been translated to them ?
I mean from the first adapters of Bitcoin?
Most of the government of some countries are scared of adapting Bitcoin because of the fear of fustrating the lives of their citizens as a result of the high volatility involved with Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general.

~snip~

Don't you also think that if Bitcoin is accepted as a legal tender, it seems means it will definitely gain more publicity at least in that country?
If it gets accepted as a legal tender, i personally think it will draw the attention of the more to Bitcoin and it will be easier to get more Marchants and hence increasing the acceptance?
Legalization is the first step to crypto acceptance.

El Salvador did it wrong if they are forcing Bitcoin adoption on people, they have to give them some reasons why Bitcoin is good for making payment, they need lectures about Bitcoin not force, there are many old people in the country, how will they even understand what Bitcoin is all about? Some old people are tough to lecture about something new, to them Bitcoin will be so complicated, especially the part that Bitcoin is highly volatile.

Suppose there is a well known convenience store in the locality and they start giving out special discounts to people spending crypto there. The interest in the public will rise about this "new" thing. They will get the impetus from themselves to know about it and then try to aquire it.

Compared to this method, force feeding a person with the idea of crypto and making them use it has less compliance.

Thus my point is that the adoption of crypto does not necessarily need governmenta but th people's acceptance and use. Do that and the government will be forced to allow crypto.

Most of the government of some countries are scared of adapting Bitcoin because of the fear of fustrating the lives of their citizens as a result of the high volatility involved with Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general.

The general idea that governments tend to reject bitcoin is because of a lack of control. Bitcoin is beyond their control, which is they implement mandatory AML and KYC policies, they are also pushing around regulation in regard to any aspect of bitcoin, like mining usage, etc.

If it gets accepted as a legal tender, i personally think it will draw the attention of the more to Bitcoin and it will be easier to get more Marchants and hence increasing the acceptance?
Legalization is the first step to crypto acceptance.

Regulation clarity will surely encourage businesses to offer bitcoin payment. But that doesn't mean acceptance is strictly required if only because of legalization causes. Bitcoin acceptance within a community will pressure a government or regulator to act on it, whether it will result in legalization or prohibition.

Why do you think that El Salvador failed in bitcoin adoption? I think it's doing pretty well: What Bitcoin adoption is ACTUALLY like in El Salvador.
It's not good to force business to accept payments, actually, business shouldn't be pushed to accept any type of payment because it will attract more customers and logically it should be their priority to do so.
But it's clear that Bukele build its economy on bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, it can turn their country into crypto hub and very successful place if he takes care of criminals and improves education of people.

What do you think could aid the adoption of Bitcoin?
There are some major countries in the world that have a very strong influence on other countries that depend on them for something or have close mutually benefiting relationship. The top influential countries in the world are United States, China, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Russia, Japan, Italy, UAE and Isreal, that ismentioning the top ten according to report, you can see the whole list here. If these countries begin to accept and use bitcoins, It will have a strong effect on other countries where they have their influence, and that can then lead to global adoption.

Some old people are tough to lecture about something new, to them Bitcoin will be so complicated, especially the part that Bitcoin is highly volatile.

I don't think the El Salvador government is forcing their people, they are still using USD besides bitcoin, which means people still have a choice. While El Salvador hasn't made any major gains since accepting bitcoin as a legal tender, it wouldn't be right to rush to the conclusion that they've failed. Bitcoin is a digital currency, so it will be harder to use than fiat, so they need a lot of time to apply it perfectly. I still believe they will succeed in universally adopting bitcoin for everyone in the future.

I think one of the main goals of bitcoin is to serve as a means of payment. However, this is also one of the reasons why bitcoin is difficult to accept in some countries. that's because bitcoin can suppress the use of fiat. this is because bitcoin has many benefits compared to fiat. however, the government tries to reject bitcoin as legal tender because it sees the negative side or risks such as its very volatile price, and so on. Moreover, due to the purely decentralized bitcoin system, it makes it very difficult for the government to take taxes from it. So, I think bitcoin's journey to being accepted as a payment alternative is still quite a long way off. However, I see that many businesses are currently accepting bitcoin as a payment alternative, this is specifically for bitcoin users, and the risk is borne by the business owner. sooner or later, people will get used to it and accept it.

There are several factors that could aid the global adoption of Bitcoin. Education is key, as many people are still unfamiliar with how Bitcoin works and its potential benefits. Governments and businesses could provide educational resources to their citizens and customers to increase awareness and understanding of Bitcoin.

Another important factor is regulation, as clear and fair regulations can provide a supportive environment for Bitcoin adoption. It's important for governments to strike a balance between consumer protection and innovation, so that Bitcoin can grow in a safe and stable manner.

In addition, making Bitcoin more accessible and user-friendly would encourage adoption. This could include developing easier-to-use wallets and exchanges, as well as creating more opportunities for people to earn and use Bitcoin in their everyday lives.

Overall, a combination of education, regulation, and accessibility can help drive global adoption of Bitcoin as a legitimate and inclusive fashion.

I doubt this possibility because, in my opinion, 90-95% of people enter the market for profit and not because of bitcoin's superior technology. Even if we are talking about bitcoin price per day, how can someone treat bitcoin as a currency while we are not?
Yes, as you mentioned "90-95% of people enter the market for profit and not because of bitcoin's superior technology" so this is why we will never get stability in the price of bitcoin, what I mean in my words is that adoption needs price stability while people keep speculating in bitcoin Which makes the price not stable at all.
In other words, we need the Bitcoin price to stabilize first in order to get adoption, because a financial system cannot be based on an unstable currency.

Nothing I see to help global adoption that is the government will support crypto and acknowledge that it was another form of currency that can be accepted as a mode of payment. So people who would see this will eventually change their minds and would have the confidence that they are safe from using this as no authorities to stop them from using and accepting Bitcoin. Thus, in this situation, we can encourage people to become a part of crypto and willingness to accept the changes.

Nowadays with the fear of decentralized systems making global governments will not accept crypto. They can't control and that's the main culprit. So not injecting dead crypto is already a huge advantage. Like the government I have tried to take taxes from trade transactions. That gives the state finances quite a lot.
So I quite agree with you, adding users I think is enough to add a community of users. The more users will benefit from the growth of crypto. So don't think about crypto for global adoption anytime soon because all goes against the government's financial system.

Bitcoins cannot be globally adopted by the government. People can still adopt it unofficially. But the government would not make Bitcoins legal at any cost. The reason is very simple. Bitcoins are decentralized, that is, they cannot be controlled by any governing body; hence, the government cannot keep track of Bitcoin transactions, etc., and hence they won’t adopt it. I mean, are we facing any problems? No right?  We are able to do P2P trades. So without worrying about this, I would ask you to move on with this topic.

Firstly you cannot certainly say that Bitcoin failed or is failing in El Salvador. It is too early to evaluate the performance of Bitcoin in El Salvador and there should be a yardstick for evaluation. And this evaluation should be based on the different sector of the country. The drop in the price of Bitcoin affected the country's Bitcoin investment but the country is a long-term investor and the future is unpredictable. We can not also deny that the friendly bitcoin policy increased investment in tourism and other investment.

The spread of basic education in some developing countries will increase Bitcoin awarenesses and adoption because a large chunk of the population of some third world nations are illiterates. Providing basic facilities like electricity and internet connections will also help Bitcoin adoption. Favorable or unfavorable government policies has a very huge impact on Bitcoin adoption in any country.

This is really true. People think that adoption would be coming from becoming the legalization of Bitcoin or crypto in general. Legalization might even hurt the true nature of decentralization of Bitcoin since surely govt ain't just sitting around looking at their people not paying taxes from their income and surely regulations will take place.

P2P trading has been like an old school practice already in trading/exchanging crypto with other people, and surely that alone is enough for at least "global adoption" of Bitcoin.

The government have a big roll to play on the adoption of Bitcoin but in some cases where they use it as a means of corruption is worrisome. If everything is plain, Bitcoin can provide significant benefits by increasing financial services and  by overcoming social trust in some developed countries.
In some third world countries there are people who consider Bitcoin as a means to support the economic growth, by so doing poverty rate may decrease drastically.here

I don't know tye country you're actually writing from but I'm very sure in my country, the government has so much role to play on the acceptance of Bitcoin and I think one of the major reason why the adoption of Bitcoin is taking so much time is the fact that government can't have any major control over Bitcoin and my government wouldn't actually want it's citizens freedom due to the fear of dethronement (just my common opinion).
At the long run, no matter how hard we try to push the acceptance of Bitcoin, it wouldn't be a total success without government approval.

The government have a big roll to play on the adoption of Bitcoin but in some cases where they use it as a means of corruption is worrisome.
I also learnt that one of the major factors government in my country is fighting Bitcoin is that it was rumored to be one of the untraceable way or means to cart away money from scam by scam artist and it was used for more of criminal acts rather than it's purpose.

I think bitcoin and we as bitcoin lovers shouldn't really do anything about it, that doesn't really require anything at all. I think it is very important to focus that we should let fiat kill itself and bitcoin will grow thanks to that.

I know that many people think that fiat will never die, but as long as fiat keeps getting worse and worse like this, there will be a point where people will say enough is enough and they will stop using their money and will try to figure an alternative. Obviously it would have some governmental alternatives one day, but bitcoin is already here and people could switch to this a lot more and adoption could increase every single day.

I will always say that El Salvador was not prepared for what they adopted as legal tender, and this is against the will of the people to make it worse. This was why protests were all over the place. Making a hugely volatile asset a legal tender is ill-informed in my opinion.

I think if the mindset of seeing Bitcoin as a legal tender rather than an investment or a get rich scheme will go a long way to aid the global adoption of Bitcoin.
Making Bitcoin a legal tender carries a high degree of risk for any country. What I can advise is for countries to invest in Bitcoin just like their reserves, and with time, it will surely yield for them. Also, Bitcoin has naturally spelt out how to use and operate it, you pay with it, trade it, invest in it and many others, which I don't believe are harmful in any way if one could fully understand them, it will profit such person..

What do you think could aid the adoption of Bitcoin?
Bitcoin has been helping itself by itself, it has attracted people since it's used for cross-border payments and one could gain from trading and investing it. I believe that more positive results from the current users will naturally convince more people to adopt it. More regulation will also convince people and even make the government that banned or restricted it change their minds.

Most of the government of some countries are scared of adapting Bitcoin because of the fear of fustrating the lives of their citizens as a result of the high volatility involved with Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general.

The government always wants to be in charge because they are in power, and since Bitcoin is decentralized, they find it uneasy to control or enforce any laws on it. Also, just as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) talks about the risks involved in making Bitcoin a legal tender in El Salvador, such as financial stability, to protect consumers from financial instability, they are stressing that El Salvador should stop the use of Bitcoin as legal tender.

So OP, every country's government has their reasons why they don't want to legalize Bitcoin in their country; some also think it could increase the rate of money laundering and theft.

It was also pointed out that Bitcoin adoption in El Salvador failed because it was forced on the people.
I will always say that El Salvador was not prepared for what they adopted as legal tender, and this is against the will of the people to make it worse. This was why protests were all over the place. Making a hugely volatile asset a legal tender is ill-informed in my opinion.
El Salvador isn't well prepared, but the president is strong in his decision. I don't see it a failure, everything will have opposition. The same could've been supported if the market have been on the bullish side soon after the adoption. What they experienced is continued decline and the government continued to accumulate which is good in my view.
Also, Bitcoin has naturally spelt out how to use and operate it, you pay with it, trade it, invest in it and many others, which I don't believe are harmful in any way if one could fully understand them, it will profit such person.
As said bitcoin investment have got high risk, but the same can be understood in the right way and one can stay on the safer side. Just because it is El Salvador the country haven't encountered big problem, if big countries have involved surely this could've affected the economy as the investment will be higher than what El Salvador have invested.
The growth is happening of its own based on the demand to the supply. In between we've got acceptance and adoption here and there. In the past we were able to see lots of negative news about bitcoin and now things have changed and the slow and steady progress is the right way for better future of bitcoin.

Firstly let me say weldone for this post. Trying to shed light to how our collective need for Bitcoin adoption maybe achieved. I have a few Ideas,

1: Education: this is the most important but mostly overlooked factor, education well implemented can turn the world upside down as it literally has, but a well channelled education system targeting the young demographic will achieve wonders by the time they were men.

2: Merchant adoption: More merchants need to accept Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as payment. This would increase the use cases for cryptocurrencies and help to legitimize them as a form of payment.

3: Infrastructure: The availability of user-friendly and secure infrastructure for buying, storing, and using cryptocurrencies is crucial for adoption. This includes easy-to-use wallets, exchanges, and payment gateways.

What do you think could aid the adoption of Bitcoin?
Let's discuss please

In my view there are several factors that can help Bitcoin adoption globally. One factor is increased education and awareness about Bitcoin and its potential benefits. This includes educating people about how Bitcoin works, its advantages over traditional currencies, and how Bitcoin can be used for everyday transactions.

Another factor deemed necessary is the development of more user-friendly and secure Bitcoin wallets and exchanges. Many people are hesitant to use Bitcoin out of concern for the safety of their funds. By creating more secure and user-friendly wallets and exchanges, people may feel more comfortable using Bitcoin for everyday transactions.

I agree with you because it seems the El Salvador government is already buying more of Bitcoin even with the dip and that is one thing that will definitely benefit the country and it's economy. Most times it actually takes a great leader to make great decisions and one thing I've known of people is the fact that they always want things their way irrespective of the consequences and always feel entitled to every decision the government makes even without considering the future of such decisions.
I stand with El Salvador government after reviewing their intentions and I think the first step was making it accepted in their country and every other step towards it will fall into place.

Regarding stability, clear regulations I think can also help drive Bitcoin adoption, where Many countries are still grappling with how to regulate Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies which can always create uncertainty for potential users, what does that mean? going forward, both entrepreneurs and investors will be more relaxed if a clear and stable regulatory framework has been established.

It is also undeniable that the role of the government regarding regulatory stability can help encourage greater adoption of Bitcoin so that it can be integrated into the mainstream financial system and can be mass adopted in the future.

This world, this society belongs to the government, they are the ones who control and manage it, and nothing can exist without their permission. That's what's been going on for hundreds of years.
If people can accept and use bitcoin without the permission of the government, and then the government will please their people. If things were that easy, I believe that in countries where there is corruption, people there would have demanded a change in government, and there would be no corruption or discontent in the society as it is today.

For the past few days now, I've read and also written on some threads talking about how difficult it is for countries to adopt crypto and in one of the threads Here It was also pointed out that Bitcoin adoption in El Salvador failed because it was forced on the people.

The solution to massive bitcoin adoption is not to make bitcoin a legal tender. Bitcoin must not be made a legal tender before it can be massively adopted.
Check a situation where government does not make bitcoin a legal tender and yet does not make laws that restrict the usage of bitcoin. This will be a win win situation for government and for bitcoin.
So government does not need to tamper her fiat for bitcoin to excel and vice versa

And despite the criticism from their countrymen and earning less support from the community, the government remains certain about their adoption. They are not afraid to take risks and to fail because they believe that this would help the country's economy in the future while the other countries are still doubtful about this.
Because if all country leaders have that kind of mindset like the leader of El Salvador, I guess the adoption went massive and fast, and so the price will become less volatile as the deman and supply is consistent.

I don't know why the OP seemed to have concluded that what El Salvador had done, which had legalized bitcoin as a legal tender, had failed. Even though for me it is the country of El Salvador itself that has succeeded in making all eyes from all over the world more familiar with bitcoin. so that the adoption of bitcoin becomes more and increases every day. and to me if any other country does the same move as El salvador then that would be a stronger driver to faster bitcoin adoption.

El Salvador's experiment has failed miserably because a year after the adoption no merchants are able to use a Wallet, no one has adopted Bitcoin as their first payment but worse still the state waller Chivo is centralized and satoshis disappear during transactions on LN .  Also, top-down adoption with propaganda hasn't worked much better than bottom-up adoption of Bitcoin Lake or Bitcoin Jungle.

Although the El Salvador government bought at the high price and irrespective of the fact that they bought at the high price, it was a good initiative by the government to have seen the potentials in bitcoin investment (as they think). I strongly believe too that they bought at low to remedy their loss at the initial start which is also a smart move. Accepting bitcoin by the El Salvador Government as  a legal tender is a good step aimed at increasing the popularity, influence, awareness and adoption of bitcoin globally. In less than no time, the El Salvador government would start seeing the dividends of their acceptability of bitcoin by then bitcoin must have soared high causing positive roars in the world and other governments would be regretting while  the ones that took advantage of accepting bitcoin as a legal tender would be enjoying for following the steps if the El Salvador government.
In no was has the government failed in their bitcoin acceptance but rather they have succeeded in attracting the two world towards their direction as amongst the first country to have legalized bitcoin in their country and this act of theirs further created more awareness and adoption of bitcoin globally.

(although you could say it was forced on the merchants, maybe
by law they coul've forced merchants to allow payments, but they can recieve dolar converted by chivo. No big deal, but in reality very few merchants accept BTC. Bukele didn't forced it. What Bitcoiners should do is Do not pay FIAT in ES. Only waste BTC so they are forced to obey the law or loose Money

The two factors you mentioned are really necessary, in which education is the most urgent because only education can people understand and accept bitcoin. People are often afraid of what they do not know, or do not understand, once they understand, they will no longer fear or hate bitcoin. Education is a key factor in bitcoin's rapid global popularity, IMO.

come on friends, let's start from ourselves and those close to us. why,bitcoin/crypto is worth it,? because most of the large company owners are familiar with this currency asset. maybe for security and transaction speed. but not everyone wants to accept the very steep and sharp price fluctuations. will be faced. but its a good idea. think global. although local still need deeper counseling about bitcoin but let's educate. move together. the government is only a supporter and a vessel if they start it.

On the other hand, I think if the mindset of seeing Bitcoin as a legal tender rather than an investment or a get rich scheme will go a long way to aid the global adoption of Bitcoin.

What do you think could aid the adoption of Bitcoin?

Let's discuss please

Regarding your assertion, it is true that viewing Bitcoin as legal tender rather than an investment or get-rich-quick scheme can help increase adoption. Treating it as a currency rather than a speculative asset can help promote its use as a medium of exchange.

Well, here I try to add about the importance of Accessibility and Acceptance that can help Bitcoin adoption:

1. Accessibility: Making Bitcoin more accessible to the general public can help increase adoption. This can be achieved through the development of easy-to-use wallets and payment systems. Additionally, providing more avenues for people to buy and sell Bitcoin could help increase adoption.

2. Acceptance: Encouraging more businesses to accept Bitcoin as a form of payment can help increase adoption. This will create more opportunities for people to use Bitcoin in their daily life.

Therefore, it is important for people to understand these risks before using Bitcoin as a currency.

What do you think could aid the adoption of Bitcoin?
I read your mentioned thread and it seemed that Guatemala has not announced or declared accepting BTC as legal tender because legalizing btc and legalizing as tender are two different things. No doubt el-Salvador made the bad decision of making BTC a legal tender at a time when BTC was at an all-time high or at least near it. I do not know on what basis they planned it but it was a failure until now. And as per your mentioned thread, Guatemala has not accepted it as legal tender but accepts it as security and assets on which people are allowed to make trading. So as far as I can conclude from this.
1. If we want to legalize it in a country first we have to start a campaign of voting (election) for whether they should accept BTC as legal tender or not. But the majority of people will not vote in favor of BTC.
2. To circumvent it, governments have to teach them the impact blockchain and BTC could make on their economy. Once they understood the importance then most people will vote in favor of selecting btc as a legal tender.
3. But, things become interesting here. You can check the stats by Statista which tells us how many countries own BTC and how much. And it's amazed to see that countries that accept it are not in the top 10. And they are not making much from BTC as legal tender. Their economy is facing but countries that did not make it legal tender and still using it for trading, holding, and for p2p transactions are earning and improving the economy by paying taxes, etc.

Maybe if people think that bitcoin is an investment almost similar to other types of investment that can provide benefits, it can help the bitcoin adoption process. Or they could think that bitcoin provides another way to make fiat money trading cryptos like forex trading and others can also help bitcoin adoption because people will learn to trade fiat bitcoin pairs. And with more and more people using crypto trading, it can keep the adoption process moving and give people an opportunity to make money.

Maybe bitcoin cannot yet become legal tender for many countries because it still depends on the local government's decision. And, of course, the government doesn't want to see that they can't control bitcoin the way they control the circulation of fiat money. And maybe that's what hinders the use of bitcoin as a legal tender in one country.

Let's look at the biggest motivator for it's success so far and then extrapolate from that to give you a good answer. What happened in the countries where Bitcoin adoption increased the most? Answer : The fiat currency in that country failed or it nearly collapsed under hyper inflation.

We can wait for more and more countries to go through the same crisis or we can educate people on the solution (Bitcoin) before that happens to them. Unfortunately people are only forced prior or during a crisis to take that step.... but we can educate them about the solution, before it happens.  Wink

For bitcoin to be accepted globally I think bitcoin has to be a legal tender, investment means, and getting rich scheme, All these three qualities for bitcoin will help it to be globally adopted easily, especially by the masses.

You make a good point about the importance of seeing Bitcoin as a legal tender rather than just an investment or a get rich scheme. If people view Bitcoin primarily as a speculative asset, then they may not be motivated to use it as a currency for everyday transactions. However, if people start to see Bitcoin as a legitimate form of payment that can be used to buy goods and services, then adoption may increase.
To increase Bitcoin adoption, it's important to make it easier for people to buy and sell it through improved availability and ease of access to Bitcoin exchanges. Enhancing the user experience by simplifying the buying, selling, and using process can make it more appealing to a wider audience. Building a strong ecosystem of businesses that accept Bitcoin as a payment method can also encourage adoption.

so true. a big step taken by president Nayib bukele in adopting bitcoin as legal tender in the country of El Salvador will certainly not be successful immediately and will not be immediately accepted by the people. all of that requires process and time. and even the adoption of bitcoin there did not interfere with the dollar payment instruments commonly used there. and please note that El salvador does not have its own currency. so bringing the legal payment alternative i.e. bitcoin to the country is also a bold move and quite a good one. although of course there will be many parties who are not happy with this. In fact, many news media only see the negative point of view and don't highlight the positive side too much.

and at least the bitcoin awareness education there is much more active and is being implemented. the point is they try with real work. not just with words without action. and I think the policy of legalizing bitcoin as a legal means of payment there does not interfere with the previous means of payment, namely the dollar. because still, the dollar is still very much needed there. because like the elderly it will certainly be easier to use dollars in everyday payments. Bitcoin is just an alternative.

and this is the latest news which is another real effort that El salvador is doing in helping bitcoin adoption.

El salvador does not have its own currency. so bringing the legal payment alternative i.e. bitcoin to the country is also a bold move and quite a good one.

But you're wrong El Salvador has its own currency "the Colon" but obviously it has a very low purchasing power and therefore the cash runs in US dollars.  So it is normal that the adoption of Bitcoin in the country is also uncomfortable for the USA.  As I have already said, a media campaign and a $20 drop in the Chivo wallet to hope that everyone starts using Bitcoin cannot work, education is needed and in a country like El Salvador where the majority is illiterate, one cannot expect the people to understands and consequently does not use it.  Cash is the main cause of tax evasion and illegal trafficking and in the country they are almost all unbanked it is normal that they will not use Bitcoin.  The only exception could be vs. money transfers which have very high transfer rates while LN, as we well know, costs nothing and is very fast.

Oh you're right. i missed it. it seems that El Salvador originally did have its own currency, namely the El Salvador Colón, but from what I read from Wikipedia1 it turns out that the El Salvador Colón currency has not been made since 2001. and since then only US Dollars have been used. and from several article sources I read that colón has not been circulating since 2004 and is not used for any transactions2. although it was mentioned that there were still several shops there that used to accept Colón and dollars for transactions at that shop.

and talk about the various limitations and obstacles experienced there to implement Bitcoin education there. then of course we have to understand that the process of adopting bitcoin in the community there will be slow. because of the various limitations that exist in the community there as you mentioned. then I think it's too early for us to call it a failure. because this is still running in a process that seems like it will take a lot of time.

Unfortunately we can already speak of bankruptcy because after a year instead of having a greater adoption many traders have left their tablet with the wallet in the drawer and the Chivo wallet was a political campaign well exploited by Bukele.

...was also pointed out that Bitcoin adoption in El Salvador failed because it was forced on the people...
Where Bitcoin has failed, nowhere, have individuals failed, the community has not been able to organize.

We hope that it is "daddy," the government, that does everything, ah!  But when it happens they criticize and judge it, and the worst they condemn, saying that Bitcoin failed in El Salvador.

But it does not matter, because that adoption advances and does not necessarily need governments, no. Fortunaty, there are individuals want to take the lead in the battle.

For bitcoin to be accepted globally I think bitcoin has to be a legal tender, investment means, and getting rich scheme, All these three qualities for bitcoin will help it to be globally adopted easily, especially by the masses.
BTC can be used globally without it being a legal tender globally, every country in the world isn't going to make BTC a legal tender, especially the developed countries, but as long as they do not create a hostile enviroment for people using BTC in their country, then we do not need them to make it a legal tender. BTC is already legal in far more countries than it is illegal, so if people can use it the correct way by taking it off exchanges and more merchants continue accepting it, it is only a matter of time for global adoption.

BTC can be used as an investment means, but nobody should take it to be a get rich scheme, that is not one of its qualities and only people who do not know anything about BTC can think like that.

Individual effort is the best thing that came in my mind to aid the global adoption of Bitcoin.  One good example is the Bitcoin Lake in Guatemala which is discussed in this thread.  Even though the government doesn't recognize Bitcoin as a legal tender and they opt to implement CBDC, locals of the said place started to promote Bitcoin.  They even mine bitcoin with used cooking oil as a source of energy to power up mining rigs.  Besides, I always believe that the collective power of individuals that is promoting Bitcoin is way stronger than a company that promotes Bitcoin alone.

as we can put it, we can start from ourselves and the people around us. but don't force it to anyone. if someone is willing to learn, then, give him assistance. because if you will shove it on them, they will likely blame you if something goes wrong with their funds or they will avoid you because they know you will be lecturing them about this market.
it is always best if the person is willing to learn about this market, because they will put effort also in learning more outside of your tutelage. you can aim one person at a time. i've seen here that some are giving a lecture at a large audience. imo, only few will be interested from such audience.

To promote the adoption of Bitcoin, education on its decentralized nature and benefits beyond investment is crucial. Clear regulation can provide stability and security for investors and businesses. Incentivizing businesses to accept Bitcoin and developing infrastructure for easier buying, selling, and use are essential. Integration with traditional finance through partnerships can bridge the gap. Widespread adoption requires cooperation among stakeholders and won't happen overnight.

All of those are good points but the majority of those points are in control of the governments and banks, and they do not want to encourage people to use bitcoin as it plays against them.

They do not want people to use a decentralized coin they cannot control, print and monitor as well, regulation is a mess so it is incredibly difficult to comply with the law, governments for many years have argued that bitcoin is an asset and not a currency in order to discourage people from using bitcoin as a currency, so as you can see there is almost no support at all when it comes to the points that could increase the adoption of bitcoin around the world.

What will aid the adoption of bitcoin is Education; people lack the basic knowledge about bitcoin.

Merchant acceptance, security and government support will help bitcoin gain acceptance and legitimacy in the part where it's not legal.

We will come to this anyway, only it will be on the terms of the governments, you will see how soon we will see the widespread introduction of CBCD. And everything will continue in the same direction, governments will convince people that bitcoin is not a reliable coin, only CBCD can be trusted, because it is controlled by the government.

And the saddest thing is that most will believe it.

Increased awareness and education, improved user experience, increased merchant acceptance, regulatory clarity, and network scalability are all important factors in promoting global Bitcoin adoption. Increasing Bitcoin adoption will necessitate a combination of technological, educational, and regulatory advancements, as well as efforts to make Bitcoin more accessible, user-friendly, and legitimate.

Spreading the word about the digital currency and the benefits and financial control it offers to adopters , letting people know about it wherever necessary that such information needs to be made known is just another way to attract more adoptors, putting hopes on the government and waiting for them believing that their adoption is fast way to increase the usage of bitcoin is something that will take more decades than we expect as most of these government's ain't Interested in losing their centralized control of the financial system under them and so the best way is to go individual when when a great number in a particular society adopts bitcoin and make use of it wether secretly like the p2p systems that is one channel through which most countries that have bitcoin ban that's what the individuals in such countries uses for transaction and it will get to an extend where the adoption will be so large that the government will have no option than to succumb to pressure.

The most important thing we hope to help with global adoption of bitcoin is its use case as a currency. The high interest of users to use bitcoin as a means of payment is what helps most when we expect bitcoin to be adopted. Of course it needs government support through regulation, but when bitcoin is known and used by the majority of the population regardless of its purpose, adoption is likely to be closer to success.

I don't expect governments to have to ask their entire population about adoption plans, but they just need to get data on how many bitcoin economic transactions are taking place in their country in a given time period. But anyway, I don't expect bitcoin to replace fiat even if bitcoin is adopted as a means of payment. Bitcoin is an alternative option that is expected to help many domestic and foreign transaction needs without restrictions.

It is ambiguous to expect bitcoin to replace fiat currency, and I confidently state that it will never happen. What we can expect from the government is to accept bitcoin as a commodity or, more so, as an alternative payment method that exists alongside fiat.

Bitcoin has been and is bringing benefits to people, I believe the government knows, but the problem they don't want to accept it is because they haven't found the perfect way to regulate and control us in the best way. They never accept bitcoin if it doesn't benefit them.

there are many ways to actually adopt btc, we just give positive news, the benefits we get if we invest,
but all of that will be difficult if one government doesn't want to know what bitcoin is and always opposes its existence even though many people in their country already have btc
moreover, sometimes some say that btc will replace fiat money, no country will adopt it if so, especially big countries that have power for their country's currency

All those are big terms my friend. But in reality what we need to start off is a good userbase using Bitcoin regularly. That will bring the impetus to stores accepting crypto and gradually merchants will be forced to accept it as a method of online payment. There are people who are using gift cards to keep up the flow of money but these things need more streamlining.

We are never going to see these changes over night. But we must attempt to make out near ones educated about Bitcoin.

I think education is key to adoption. The more people understand the benefits and how to use Bitcoin, the more likely they are to adopt it. We need to move beyond the 'cryptocurrency is scary and confusing' stereotype and make it accessible to everyone.

I don't think cryptocurrency is actually scary or I don't  know if people think it's scary but due to the very high volatile nature of Bitcoin, it seems people are being so careful of Bitcoin as there are equal chances of making either profits or loss as nothing is guaranteed in crypto.
How so we make it accessible?
In my local community, some elderly persons Haven't found it easy to adopt to the traditional banks not to talk more of using Bitcoin and my question was really more about wanting to know how this woman could possibly adapt to crypto usage after seeing how the economy went to stagnation and recession due to scarcity of cash in my country.

It's a difficult question to answer. The low cost of entry and widespread adoption have made the digital currency one of the most popular ways to purchase goods, especially given its association with the internet. That makes it easy for merchants who might not otherwise accept Bitcoin to do so by simply adding it to their online store. But even if more people are using Bitcoin, it can also mean that there are more services and goods out there for them to acquire, which could make adoption more challenging based on individual preferences or needs.

By the time bitcoin is accepted as legal tender it will have reached the right level of adaptation. In my opinion, these are mutually reinforcing things. But now there are many projects, cryptoprocessors, which increase the level of adaptation of bitcoin.

Regulation, I think. Some would say it would be downfall of fiat but if we would be realistic, downfall of fiat means downfall of economies; cryptocurrencies would as well be burried with it. Regulation on the other hand would be an additonal contribution to the economy by means of taxes, and this is the only way governments would accept this blockchain. Governments have their own reason whether it is risk, anonymity or other possible cause of why countries are still avoidant with cryptocurrencies. Bottomline is, for majority of countries to adopt with this technology, they'd be needing to treat it like fiat, as what is typical. This would be unfortunate given that crypto has its nature but things won't work as smooth as butter no matter how we want it to be.

Just be yourself, just do what needs to be done because we can't be fully active with things like this, especially when we are in a country that is sensitive enough to bitcoin, so what we do could be wrong, so just be yourself. By continuing to contribute to forums, sharing with those closest to us about crypto and answering some of the questions raised (which of course we are good at) to make a real impact on the environment we live in, I think that's enough.

I think more investment doors need to be opened.  A lot of wealthy individuals don't want to worry about self-custody or maintaining a wallet.  They just want to own something and have it be a part of their portfolio.  That's why I think things like a spot ETF for Bitcoin would make a huge difference.  By this point most people agree that Bitcoin has value and is worth investing in, but investor protections and options remain something that could use improvement.  As Bitcoin becomes as easy to buy as a stock and as well protected as the funds in your brokerage account, I think investment will explode and those of us who got ahead of the investment tidal wave will be well compensated.

It's better to have the people get slowly accustomed with the ins and outs of bitcoin rather than forcing them to immediately switch into the cryptocurrency. That wouldn't sit well for bitcoin, and for these people we in the first place aim to help out. So how do we aid and hasten global adoption then? Simple, information campaigns. As of the moment the world is more aware of what the hell bitcoin is than compared to years ago, most especially during the early days of bitcoin, so the next step is to reinforcing this acquaintance with bitcoin into full-on knowledge about the coin by giving the public free and accessible avenues for learning what bitcoin really is about. Plus there also has to be some sort of incentive from attending and absorbing these lessons, coz surprise surprise people are apparently more motivated to learn if they get something of valaue from listening. Employ all of these tactics and you'll for sure be able to contribute greatly to helping bitcoin advance.

I think education is key to adoption. The more people understand the benefits and how to use Bitcoin, the more likely they are to adopt it. We need to move beyond the 'cryptocurrency is scary and confusing' stereotype and make it accessible to everyone.

Aside from government regulation, information dissemination indeed is one of the keys to Bitcoin adoption but it shouldn't stop there.  People who got informed about Bitcoin and tried to use it should be satisfied or experience less trouble.  We all know that Bitcoin takes time to be confirmed, and waiting for a long time for the processing of transaction is quite annoying.  Delays often incur huge losses on business so in order for Bitcoin to be accepted or adopted in global businesses, the scalability of Bitcoin must be improved so that transactions can be processed and confirmed faster.

Aside from that as an individual, users should not experience difficulty in using or accessing Bitcoin, so developing applications that ease the usage of Bitcoin must be created.  Thus, Bitcoin application should be user-friendly. Aside from that, Bitcoin should be available to use anywhere so we also need to create promotions where merchants will be enticed to accept Bitcoin as the mode of payment.  More merchants, more places to spend Bitcoin and with the situation, global adoption can be increased.

there are many ways to actually adopt btc, we just give positive news, the benefits we get if we invest,

If we only spread positive news it will be more easily accepted by many people, but in reality there are still many disadvantages and risks that exist when using Bitcoin. We are the same as fooling everyone if we only spread the profits and if they experience losses then they will likely hate Bitcoin even more.
It's better if we spread what is about the advantages and disadvantages of using Bitcoin and after that let other people decide whether to take the opportunity in Bitcoin or not.

but all of that will be difficult if one government doesn't want to know what bitcoin is and always opposes its existence even though many people in their country already have btc

It's not that every government doesn't want to know, but in fact, of course, they already know about Bitcoin, and they are definitely discussing it because this is related to existing digital developments that have been discussed by everyone in the world. It's just that they haven't found the right way to regulate it so that it can be adapted to the existing system in their country and not harm their citizens.

Yup this.

While certainly there are improvements needed in regulations for exchanges, regulatory clarity for legacy finance firms to get into Bitcoin, UI/UX of bitcoin wallets, plenty of improvements in Lightning Network, merchant adoption both for online and brick and mortar stores, tax laws allowing purchases with bitcoin without owing capital gains taxes...the main thing that is needed for global adoption is much greater education on Bitcoin.

If you ask someone who has money to invest and doesn't have Bitcoin why they don't have Bitcoin, the answer invariable is going to be related to lack of education on Bitcoin. They either don't know what it is or they are scared of it, or they heard it is going to zero or is some sort of pyramid scheme, or they think its bad for the environment, or they think it'll just be banned, or they think it doesn't have any utility, or they are scared of the volatility. All these are lack of education problems. Somewhat lack of financial education but mostly specifically lack of bitcoin education.

If the whole world magically got educated on Bitcoin tomorrow you'd have probably a billion people buying Bitcoin for the first time tomorrow, and many more after that.

The vast majority have either no information about Bitcoin or mostly/entirely misinformation. This leads them to be ignorant or negative towards Bitcoin. Unfortunately we can't magically educate everyone tomorrow. It'll take many years to educate the general public.

If we could even just educate the public on the difference between volatility and long term growth, the four year bitcoin cycle (so that they aren't always buying at the top when they get in), what hard money is and why Bitcoin is the best hard money humanity has ever had, why PoW mining is so positive for humanity and the environment, why Bitcoin is unique compared to every other crypto, and how bitcoin lets people bank themselves and send money to anyone in the world, and the basics of making an address and using a wallet to send transactions, that alone would get most people with spare money interested in owning Bitcoin. And you could probably teach someone the basics of all that in one day, at least enough for them to have a surface-level comprehension of why Bitcoin is so good.

But of course in reality they have to seek out the information for themselves, find good sources and be interested enough to learn, and get passed the flood of misinformation which dominates the information landscape around Bitcoin. So the reality is that it is not an easy task and will take many years, maybe a generation, to get the general public informed on Bitcoin.

On the other hand, I think if the mindset of seeing Bitcoin as a legal tender rather than an investment or a get rich scheme will go a long way to aid the global adoption of Bitcoin.
It's possible, but what are the chances of most of the countries considering Bitcoin as a legal tender? At first place, the government isn't the one who are issuing or producing Bitcoin, so they can't control it, and that would be a problem for them in the long run. It's good that we are seeing one or two countries putting Bitcoin as a legal tender.

With regards to get rich scheme, it will all comes to how people are getting educated. If people got educated, they will realize that Bitcoin isn't a get-rich quick scheme.

What do you think could aid the adoption of Bitcoin?
Let's discuss please
Social Media, Internet, Education.

I think there are some, but these 3 are the main things that will aid global adoption of Bitcoin. Social Media, and Internet is very vital when it comes to spreading the word right now especially now that we are in a digital era, and people are spending 2 hours and 27 minutes per day (base on Google search) browsing different social media platforms. Just imagine on that span of time, they will saw an ad or a video with regards to Bitcoin. That's why for me, Social Media and Internet are 2 keys for Bitcoin to be used and adopted worldwide.

Education? No further explanation from that. We just need to educate people what really Bitcoin is, and let them realize what really it is.

On the other hand, I think if the mindset of seeing Bitcoin as a legal tender rather than an investment or a get rich scheme will go a long way to aid the global adoption of Bitcoin.
What do you think could aid the adoption of Bitcoin?
Let's discuss please
Adopting bitcoin is not easy, especially at the level of adoption in a country. it will definitely take a very long time to adjust and get used to bitcoin. because not everyone in this world knows bitcoin, and not everyone likes bitcoin. so surely all of this will be a great challenge for countries that want to adopt bitcoin.

and you ask about what is a powerful way to successfully adopt bitcoin? In my opinion, the most effective way is to start slowly. because I believe that in a relaxed way it always produces positive results, everything must be planned, organized, and targeted.
and the procedure in my opinion is like this

• community surveys to every corner, to inform the public that there is bitcoin and the country will adopt it.
• Look at technological developments in every region and remote area, is the internet network all the way around and the community already has at least an Android cell phone.
• vote for the public, so that they know what percentage the probability of adoption is successful, if the voting results show good results/many agree, it means there is a possibility of success. but if it's the other way around, then it should be postponed first. because if the community does not want to continue to be forced into adoption, they are afraid that there will be commotion in the form of rejection and demonstrations from the community.

if this method has been done, just waiting for the results of the bitcoin adoption.

Is widespread bitcoin adoption really in our favor? For everyone to use bitcoin, bitcoin needs government approval. And the government will not be able to accept it if there is no benefit from it, meaning bitcoin will be more controlled, we will be controlled by them, taxed...So I really didn't expect bitcoin to be popular that way.

I doubt it. Bitcoin was able to become so popular right now without the intervention of the government. It is more like the government has to adjust with Bitcoin and vise versa. But I got your point, in order for everyone to benefits from it, taxes will be involved and government too. I think global adoption of Bitcoin depends on how it will address the challenges that have prevented it from gaining wider acceptance so far including regulations. Also and most of all, many people are still not familiar with Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies until today. Raising awareness on how Bitcoin works could help to increase adoption.

You're right but I think even without been accepted, there are taxes on it if I'm not wrong and in my country we are taxed indirectly on almost everything that we do and one of the major reason I'm wanting the global adoption of Bitcoin despite this very point you mentioned is so as to enable people work freely with their possessions.
In my country, since Bitcoin isn't accepted, it automatically becomes a very big crime to mention to someone that you work on a crypto related project hence the security officers will be treating you like a criminal.

No matter the disadvantages associated with the adoption of Bitcoin, I still want it to be accepted globally.

It is not easy to promote the global adoption of bitcoin, because this represents a system on which the financial world (banks and funds) cannot profit so they fight again crypto.
Essentially I think it's only a matter of time, and with the future generations of humanity bitcoin will be a global currency parallel to the traditional financial system.
I hope I live long enough to see it  Smiley

More adoption will certainly benefit those investors who are already into bitcoin. and if you are a bitcoin holder then of course you will expect wider bitcoin adoption. because it will also trigger a higher price increase. and of course when bitcoin adoption has spread widely then the government will of course monitor it and maybe make taxes for bitcoin holders and traders. and that's a normal thing and it can also help the state's income. Instead of banning bitcoin, the government's move to control bitcoin and apply tax laws against it would do much better to supplement the country's revenue and also help encourage more bitcoin adoption. in my country Indonesia this has been done by the government so that the adoption of bitcoin is expanding rapidly in my country.

There are already many governments in the world that approve Bitcoin. El Salvador government is one of the governments that really supports Bitcoin development. They make Bitcoin as a legal tender. Now, there is an issue that more countries to follow El Salvador to announce it as a legal tender. If El Salvador government can be successful to rise their economic level by utilizing Bitcoin, I'm sure there are many countries to follow El Salvador. But this doesn't mean that the government controls Bitcoin since it is decentralized. The government just utilizes it, not control it, dude!

there are many ways to actually adopt btc, we just give positive news, the benefits we get if we invest,
but all of that will be difficult if one government doesn't want to know what bitcoin is and always opposes its existence even though many people in their country already have btc
moreover, sometimes some say that btc will replace fiat money, no country will adopt it if so, especially big countries that have power for their country's currency

Yes, Challenges are in the way of widespread adoption of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, there are lots of positive news and benefits also investing in Bitcoin. This may not be enough to overcome the obstacles posed by regulations and government opposition for Bitcoin to fulfill its promise as a transformative technology for the world.

On the face of it some governments may still be hesitant to embrace Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies because of concerns about financial stability, regulatory oversight, and the potential for illegal activity. This reluctance is perhaps more pronounced in large countries that have an interest in maintaining the dominance of their national currencies.

However, it is also important to recognize that the adoption of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies is a global phenomenon that cannot be easily suppressed or controlled by any single government. Because more and more people around the world are using Bitcoin and its many benefits. My view is that the Government will be moved to engage with this new digital asset class by itself and it will be the government's job to set the right regulatory framework that balances innovation and risk.

I think people are past the point of thinking of Bitcoin as a "get rich quick scheme" and it is now seen as a volatile but prosperous alternative currency investment. It's funny, because Bitcoin did make a lot of people rich...it was more of a get rich quick investment than it was a scheme. I digress. In terms of increasing adoption, the next step is payment gateways for businesses. This absolutely needs to accelerate before governments begin banning cash from their economies if Bitcoin wants to take full advantage of the "day to day usage" use-case when the time comes that cash is abolished.

On the other hand, I don't think people have grown last the point of seeing Bitcoin as a get rich quick investment because I made a comment on a post where someone had to take of his six thousand dollars from works bank and also took loan from bank and also from his uncle to be able to buy one Bitcoin and such a person is already too confident Bitcoin would make him happy and change his life or possibly give him thrice of his investment forgetting that it can also fall back again, taking much more longer time to recover.
Bitcoin is still making alot of people rich and I know how many people Bitcoin has improved their lives and also given them some sort of financial independence but all that was on personal risk and patience, hence Bitcoin is volatile and anything can happen at anytime regardless of the analysis of the financial analyst.

I do not agree with you on the issue of adoption, as there are many countries that have done this. Only two countries have done this, and it can be said that the two experiments were not as successful as hoped.

Unfortunately, most uses of Bitcoin are for trading and investment, and we have not yet reached the point of benefiting from it functionally, and this is mainly caused by countries not adopting it as a legal tender in daily exchanges and transactions. A few investments have begun to accept Bitcoin payments, and some of them started doing so very early, but it still does not always represent a large percentage of the total usage. The same idea applies to what we call “market whales” who cannot get governments and financial institutions to fully adopt.

What made the matter worse was the launch of so-called “stablecoins” that absolutely replaced fiat money on the blockchain. More than 99% of the stablecoins in the market are backed by the dollar, and we clearly notice how these currencies took the place of Bitcoin and Crypto and contributed more to disrupting full adoption.

Yes, you are right, Bitcoin is more likely to be legalized in all countries. But it is not only necessary to look at getting the legalized. It is also necessary to look at its proper use. As easy as it is to transact here, fraud is also high. If you accidentally give your money to someone else, you have no recourse to get that money back. Also, the reason it's not legal in other countries is because the government doesn't get its taxes.
Governments like banks don't get taxed on bitcoin transactions here. So whoever wants to do the transaction. Which is not covered by the government.
So don't just think about the legality of Bitcoin, you should also look at its downsides.
