I was watching a TV programme in one of our local TV channels, it was an interview section/discussion with a certain popular musician as a guest in the studio, soon afterward as the discussion was going on the presenter asked him a particular question to which I found very interesting and absorbing. The question goes like this: "How do you maintain your private life in the view of public eyes".
So I decided to ponder on this myself and also to  bring same to the forum for forum users to share their thoughts on this, as a bitcoiner, a bitcoin trader or investor how do you maintain your bitcoin life in the view of public eyes?
As for me; I keep mine on a low cause personally am someone that love to keep a very small circle  and so I do my things my way not to attract public eyes. I don't post about being a bitcoiner on social media like facebook, Instagram, and rarely talk about it in any gathering except in demanding situation's.  I like it when people have no clue about what I do rather assume things about me than being certain especially not about my financial life which is supposed to be strictly private for me.

According to Socrates, "The unexamined life is not worth living", so can you take a minute to examine your bitcoin lifestyle in in terms of public view and share with us if you're the private life kind of person or you prefer the public lifestyle of letting almost everyone know you're into bitcoin.

Mind you, this is only intended for a discussion purpose.

By keeping as much of a low profile as I can. People knowing you're wealthy is mostly a disadvantage than an advantage. Sure, people respect you a lot more when they know you're well-off, but the disadvantages heavily outweighs the advantages. This is regardless if you're holding cryptocurrencies or not.

Keeping your bitcoin activities off the public space is less of a lifestyle choice and more of a security choice. A $5 wrench attack can happen to anyone at any point in time, so can a targeted scam attempt. To protect oneself from this, maintain a private outlook when it comes to bitcoin holdings or any investments at all.

Sure, people respect you a lot more when they know you're well-off,
Seems like sycophancy to me.

Wise decision.

What is a bitcoin lifestile anyway, I have a few thousand sats does that make my life a bitcoin lifestyle?
Once I get into the 100k range I'll swap it into litecoin.

Seems like sycophancy to me.

Another word for inferior complex?

The life of a crypto enthusiast does not outwardly differ from the life of an ordinary person. You will not notice that he is engaged in cryptocurrencies. And only a complete fool will tell everyone right and left that he knows how to buy bitcoins on the stock exchange, bragging about it. To tell how much he earned. Do not confuse it with those good people who dedicate others to cryptocurrencies. The difference is that someone brags, and someone wants to teach others.

Actually no one will ask you about your Bitcoin activities if you didn’t show anything in the public like social media. I’m on crypto for more than 5 years and until now no one knows that I’m trading or I’m involved on Bitcoin because I don’t talk about it to others. I don’t encourage my friends to use Bitcoin since I don’t want to be blame in case they lose money on many shit scam scheme on crypto.

So how’s my Bitcoin lifestyle? So bless in silence. I’m earning without someone asking me on how I get my money.

share with us if you're the private life kind of person or you prefer the public lifestyle of letting almost everyone know you're into bitcoin.
I think anyone who uses/owns Bitcoin has as an obligation (to themselves) to keep their Bitcoin holdings private, there is no benefit in letting everyone know that you have a certain amount of Bitcoin in your possession. It is basically a simple rule of thumb, do people go around making it known to everyone how much they have in their bank accounts, or in their safe at home, if they don't, then why should they feel comfortable with a public Bitcoin lifestyle.

Having said that, there is a thread by 1miau on why it's important to avoid telling everyone about your crypto holdings, it is a very good read for crypto enthusiasts who are still unsure of whether to shut their mouths about their crypto holdings or not.

We live a society or an era where people show off when new technology suffices. It is just like getting the latest iPhone and holding it off for people to see. People brag about cryptocurrency so that the less knowledgeable ones will either respect them on hold them in high regards. That’s why you see cryptocurrency chats on people’s social media handles. I see this as a great danger because from my place once you are found to be involved in cryptocurrency people tend to think you are getting lots of money from it and they will also learn. With this mindset of getting rich people come into the space investing way more than they could lose and you hear stories of how people naivety made them broke. Personal it is better to be on a low key since bitcoin hasn’t been globally approved by the government.

Private lifestyle always serves best these days where inflation has risen and others try to take advantage of those who show they have enough. Where it is worse is the fact that you may not know the extent to which that friend who seem interested in your affairs of finance knows or is hiding.
Bitcoin lifestyle should be dealt same way. After all, ones lifestyle is reflected by how they spend thier income. If the source of earning your Bitcoin is not legit, or it serves as passive income till you figure out things or you haven't quite figured out the earning part that suits you and you can benefit from fully, why showoff?
Until you get to the point or position where you feel comfortable to open up, please do so without fidgeting or stuttering or trying too hard to show everyone you have more money.
I really don't make noise or act lavish with the little knowledge I have about Bitcoin, because I am still learning and would love to have gotten to a master merchant stage before even spending my profits accumulated.

I will keep the privacy of a bitcoiner because I also don't want my lifestyle to look more luxurious just because bitcoin is always a lot of questions in the public.

Because I still work in an office and also do business, some people never think of me as a bitcoiner or they don't know how much bitcoin they have, about this I will always be closed unless the closest person knows about it, for that style, don't be too glamorous because I'm happier with a normal lifestyle and not overdoing it just because earning for bitcoins is definitely going to invite more controversy.

The topic of Bitcoin gets mixed reactions in my circles because Bitcoin is usually associated with scammers especially if you are on these social media platforms like telegram or Facebook you know how annoying people will always drop Dams or comments related to Bitcoin investment etc which even Facebook seems not to have under control but like everyone has pointed out, Bitcoin is really a private lifestyle tbh...my Bitcoin my business it ends at that, but I must say Bitcoin has gained some ground and more people silently talk about it especially that once in a while it makes some news headlines.

What I try to do constantly is trying to minimize the level of the awareness I create in the mind of other people,  because the advantage of popularity can't be compared to the price of peace's low standard but with high.

But then its feels really good knowing that we have an alternative that is free from interference from third party

Still good since continuously earning some good cash while staying at home participating on many activities on any platform by using it. But on public eyes? I remain low key and as possible as I can I never tell anyone I'm into cryptocurrency because don't want to get mix impression about what I am doing and also I don't want to get disturb by people asking some loan if they know I have money nor ask about many things about it. Better stay low key than stress from those people only good when they can get something in return.

Asking about someone's bitcoin lifestyle will certainly make a lot of difference. Since I got to know bitcoin and have lived my life side by side with bitcoin, financially all my needs have been met and I have several Bitcoin savings and other assets. Since bitcoin was not very popular until now I have been consistent in continuing to collect bitcoins. Maybe 2018 will be my first peak of success because the price of bitcoin at that time rose drastically and gave me a lot of profit. I remain a private person with my bitcoin work, and don't flaunt what I have too much, because that would also be dangerous.

This is true.

There are people who will always envy what you have to the point that they are making different stories about you because of what you are doing but they never know what you are doing. If you tell them what you do too especially cryptocurrency you might get in trouble if people know you are holding one. So, I like it to be off the grid from these people since no matter what you say to them they wouldn't understand for sure.

Enjoy your life without having no one to know you are enjoying, it means you don't have to tell them your are celebrating your small success. Just enjoy with the companion you have who are trustworthy and your life will be in peace.

By keeping it simple and humble, you actually put yourself in a more secured and relatively safer environment, compared if you flaunt your riches on social media. With the rampant of crimes nowadays, you may be considered as a target for malicious and cyber hacking attempts in the event that they discover your riches in the cryptocurrency world.

Personally, I do not share any much information that I know. In addition, I also do not share to anyone that I do not trust the methods that I currently employ in earning BTC as this also has a stigma in our country.

I keep my bitcoin activities private as much as possible. I don't share anything unless someone shows interest in bitcoin. I introduced bitcoin to my family and close friends, who I knew for years.
One of the main reasons is that the government does not allow us to transact with bitcoin or anything related to bitcoin or cryptocurrency. Another reason is I like to keep privacy when it comes to financing.

Keeping your lifestyle as bitcoiner depends on your own self,
Firstly, the question is, outside been a bitcoiner, do you keep your normal lifestyle or other activities concerning you private or do you keep them public, sincerely a person that lives a private life won't even have issues to keep his Bitcoin lifestyle private, same goes to someone that has a public lifestyle, he would always want to expose Bitcoin and let people know about it,

But to me I will keep my Bitcoin lifestyle private,it will be my personal thing, let's just be realistic we live in a world where we don't even know who loves us and who hates us, we don't know real friends and real enemies anymore, so placing the little source of income as (bitcoiner) in public is at your own risk, some persons with hatred can do anything stop you, some can even tag you a bitcoin scammer and even report you to the police or maybe Efcc.
So to me I would advice every bitcoiner to keep his Bitcoin lifestyle and activities Private, it's safer that way..

Exposing Bitcoin to people would bring a lot of advices, both good and bad, discouragements, I even remembered when I wanted to register for Bitcointalk, I told a friend about it, there was nothing he didn't say to me that day, as Bitcointalk is filled with scammers, members are not straight forward, as Bitcointalk is so difficult to access, but on a long run I refused to be discouraged, I still got registered, start learning and posting and now I'm here...

I don't post my Bitcoin activities on any social media platforms and have not even thought of doing so, I'm just on a low, so low

For me I think its solely depends on the individual way  of living his life. Staying on a low key is actually the best way anyone who is into a bitcoin investment is preferred to live. But for myself I don't think I can keep it or live my life as a bitcoiner a secret especially when am benefitting massively from this great invention, personal I like to share my success stories with individuals that are closed to me that are not doing too fine. I feel its good to guide people into crypto vividly explaining the up and down thats involved in it but some people do this through their glamorous way of living and this causing lots of attention as many people would be wanting to know your source of income.

I am not sure if up to five people outside my siblings know that I have anything to do with bitcoin, I believe showing off my bitcoin to the public will definitely attract some attention that I never wanted and that could even put my life in danger because you never can tell who is listening and what type of thought might be going through their mind.
Remember not everyone will be happy with your success, even your most trusted friend might later turn out to be your greatest enemy just because you're doing well then them and that's something that jealousy can cause.

My friends and family are aware that I have been investing in bitcoins for a long time. I cannot mislead them since they have no clue about it, yet I am not empowering them to distribute part of their savings into bitcoin. I should only talk when they ask because I know they might blame me if the price of bitcoin falls. I have kept a low profile up until this day, but it is possible that others in my immediate vicinity have also shared information about my involvement in bitcoin investing. Anyhow, I and my family are living like a normal family.

For your safety and your investment assets, you should not talk about the amount of your assets to anyone other than trusted people. I'm sick of some people show off their wealth on social media as if they ignore any security risks to themselves, they forget that protecting their financial privacy is most important when they have money.

I will not and never will my wealth be obliged to get proper privacy even though I use a centralized exchange all along. When they neglect financial security and privacy, it becomes clear to them the risks that lurk.

Living a public life (showcasing one's wealth) in one's surroundings or on social media invites a lot of jealousy and hostility from others toward the person. But, when he or she leads a simple life, others will stop thinking negatively of him or her. What I'm trying to convey is that if enough people know where your money comes from, they might try to harm you or stifle your income. Therefore, it is good to live a quiet life. You don't need to struggle with interacting with others just to disclose your bitcoin holdings to them with the intention of letting them know that you have arrived(been rich).

I've witnessed several instances when people have been abused because they flaunt a posh lifestyle in their community and on social media

Just the casual lifestyle. But sometimes I became more active when there are discussions related to bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies. I do not brag anything, just casual exchanges of thoughts about issues, misconceptions, & how Bitcoin can possibly be helpful to our community. Even though I have been here for years, I still don't have great knowledge especially when it comes to the technicalities of bitcoin, that's why I keep low sometimes.

I'm certainly not well-off, but I'm generally living a comfortable lifestyle, owning my own car, living on my own in a rented apartment, and being able to afford occasional trips. My close friends know that I'm involved in cryptocurrencies and that I'm earning money through Bitcoin. I haven't gone into too much detail because it's not necessary. It's not the easiest or most comfortable topic to explain.

I'm generally trying to keep a low profile, especially with people with whom I'm not close enough to discuss such topics. I don't have too much money in cryptocurrencies, but they're assisting me on a monthly basis. However, most people who are unfamiliar with cryptocurrencies may tend to perceive you as wealthy, because for most, cryptocurrencies seem exotic, at least here. Thus, I tend not to go into too much detail.

So far, this is not where I want to be or what I want to achieve in life, but I know I'll get there eventually. I haven't saved much or invested in bitcoin to the point where I'll have to keep a low profile due to my large earnings or by living a very comfortable but luxurious lifestyle.

I'm already keeping my things private; I don't have to show anyone my earnings, losses, or life setbacks. I come from a place where people can easily take advantage of you, even harm you, if you're seen to be successful. I've known this since I was a child, thanks to my parents, so I don't even try to do that as I know the consequences of my actions if I ever do that.

Although there is a very big difference between the life of a celebrity like a musician and a bitcoiner who holds no social status. It is quite a difficult task for celebrities to live a private life. I some times feel for them because even in the mall or eatery or shopping stores you will see people will always want to record a celebrity with or without their consent.
Why so many people like such a lifestyle of always been in the news, some also detest it. I do not like such a life and I do not also present myself to be into Bitcoin unless my Bitcoin friends who know.
This is because in my country you can easily be called a scammer when you make or receive payments with bitcoin.

So I decided to ponder on this myself and also to  bring same to the forum for forum users to share their thoughts on this, as a bitcoiner, a bitcoin trader or investor how do you maintain your bitcoin life in the view of public eyes?
I know about bitcoins just as many other people in our society. If I know about bitcoin, it does not mean that my life is suddenly at risk because of this knowledge. Bitcoin is not a top secret program and knowing about bitcoin does not mean that I have plenty bitcoins in my keep or that I am super rich. Someone can know so much about bitcoins and still be living close to the poverty line. Unless one begins to live in a manner that is loud and to show off, only then can one's life be in danger.

In the view of the public eyes I always like to appear like I do not know so much, even though I have an idea of whatever is being discussed.

Sometimes it makes me feel bored, having to sit in front of the computer all day is really boring and tasteless. But it makes a profit, gives me a job to care for my family, and I think it's worth it.
Apart from my relatives, my neighbors don't know I'm investing in bitcoin, all they know is that I work on a computer. I never want them to know about what I do simply because I don't like being compared or being the subject of discussion. You are right, those who invest in bitcoin are for profit, but they are also people who are very concerned about privacy.

I think most of the bitcoiners would prefer staying as private as possible. Some might even go to an extent to not comment on this thread too  Grin
Bitcoiners like to stay anonymous which is why they don't socialize much. Talking about myself, I keep my bitcoin life as private as possible.
If someone asks me then I do provide him the knowledge required to get started with bitcoin but otherwise I don't talk about bitcoin to others.
We are actually better off keeping it private because we don't want any unwanted attention.

A very interesting question.
Personally, bitcoin is not my lifestyle but an investment in my future, and that's how I look at it.
I always separate work and money from my private life and conversations with friends, because these are personal and confidential matters.
I have personally seen in my life that when you try to discuss financial matters and investments with your friends, or even give them financial advice, it usually ends badly.
Investments can help your lifestyle, but they are not exactly a lifestyle  Grin

I myself have never displayed my cryptocurrency activity in public or on personal social media. For me, only my closest family and friends need to know. Because in my country there are still no concrete regulations for crypto activities. But so many other people love to show off their results from NFT, Crypto, stocks etc on social media, The Government tax department is immediately happy to see them showing off. Indirectly it makes it easier for the tax department to record their income.

True. Some just do not care at all anyway.
In Facebook, I almost never post what's happening into my current life and in fact I have never even mentioned that I was using cryptocurrency to do some transactions though I do tread around Facebook groups related to crypto sometimes just for funs and not really for something that I would interact with other people anyway since that platform is hella scam pit.

Keeping a low life with bitcoin is the kind of lifestyle to live and it is possible to do because bitcoin itself has provided that kind of system with anonymous and decentralized operations it has. It guarantees your freedom of secrecy and so no need that we begin to brag ourselves about it because of the danger of possible attack. People usually weighs your financial status with the price of a bitcoin without knowing if what you have is just little fraction of Satoshi, maybe 0.0009btc.

On a normal day, I am the type of person that keeps a personal lifestyle that too has a big connection with Bitcoin life because it is not physical and it can't be seen in you that you are a Bitcoiner or a crypto trader, Therefore, only people that very close to me know about me and know exactly what I do for sustenance because yo be frank, Bitcointalk forum is a place I relied on as far as my sustenance is concerned that is why I keep it on a low to avoid any issues.

Anyway the little I understand is that living a life style is about the character of an individual  it depends the type of person, even here in the forum we see people that boost of there investment on bitcoin an even mok low rank members in the forum, to me I don't even have what it takes to invest big for now because of other side expenses I am into so the little I have invested in bitcoin dose not add anything in my life for now,I can see in the forum there are so many high rank members in the forum that have made a lot of money by having a job through campaign,so I don't think investing in bitcoin makes it a life style to me,but believe to invest more to and hold it for a long team so that I can make more profits.

It depends a lot on personal character.Because not everyone's mood is the same. But what you said about bitcoin live style is very disturbing to me.Because I bought small dollar amounts of bitcoins which meant I had to sit in front of the computer all the time as I traded.
I took the trade hoping to make a profit that I had to put myself through such a frustrating situation. But those who have more patience can do this task easily.

more or less my life as a bitcoiner is almost similar to what you experienced.
I also really care about my financial privacy, especially about bitcoin and other cryptos.
because things like that don't need to be talked about.

only a few friends know that I invest in bitcoin, people who know that I really have to tell because one of my friends is very curious about what I've been doing so far.

The truth is, I discussed only with people I have personal and the same interests with and as a matter of privacy I talk less and I will rather you text me a conversation rather than engage in a discussion with others.

what is the need of letting others know how much Bitcoin we own, Bitcoin gives us the freedom to remain anonymous and not unlike fiat currency that involved third-party, if it's paper money your accountant or the bank manager may know how much money in your account, but Bitcoin have no third party so you can remain anonymous.

If there is anything I should keep a secret or low key it should be my financial life. I don't let people know about my bitcoin life. Nobody even my family members don't know am a bitcoiner. Letting anyone know am into bitcoin is never a big or they will discourage me, I prefer it's private. I almost made such mistake when I started bitcoin trading initially, I let one of my friends know about it, he discouraged me to the point that I almost quit bitcoin investment. I am glad I did not because it could have been the worst mistake I would have ever made.

looks like you are in an environment that is not good for what you enjoy. if you already know how the people around you respond negatively to what you do. forget them, you did well. but what about your family? I'm not sure they will reject and respond negatively like your friend. start by being open with your family. it doesn't matter which assets you have in Bitcoin. but regarding light things about Bitcoin and crypto news in the media. you have to start with your family first. and your friends, who cares.

Not all family members are good people. We cannot know what they will do if they know you own bitcoins at home. It is one of reason but another reason is you will avoid pressure to buy or invest on behalf of your family members. Many of them will not be ready to learn and just want to send money to you and ask you to buy and hold bitcoin for them.

What will you do if in buying process, you make a mistake (address typo) and lose money or you fall into a trade with a scam trade partner? What will you do if you lose your wallet in holding process by a hack, laptop steal ...?

Will they be ready to accept such personal mistakes or accidents of you and let their money go easily?

I’m very surprised reading the comments of people here. If bitcoin is legal in your country, it’s okay to be open about it. Bitcoin isn’t some dark secret that one has to hide in his closet. The people around me know I am a bitcoin enthusiast, what they don’t know is how many bitcoins I own. My wallet address isn’t public and I use multiple addresses for transactions. I live a comfortable life, I do not flaunt my wealth or the things I have achieved by investing in bitcoin. My life isn’t in any kind of danger, there are others who also accept bitcoin payment in their business they haven’t been robbed either. Being known as a bitcoiner doesn’t invade your bitcoin privacy if that makes sense.

I understand where you're coming from. It's understandable to want to maintain a low profile, especially when it comes to finances. It's important to prioritize your privacy and security above anything else.
