If the purpose of self moderating the thread is valid then there's no problem with it. But these scammers know how to use it and take advantage of it so that others don't see the members that have found their scammy tactics on what they're promoting.

I've got a friend who's got his metamask hacked by connecting automatically when he's asked for his permission and then he obliged. He thought that it was a legitimate website for the project (not a casino) that he's interested with and boom, within split seconds, his few BNB was gone.

To avoid such, whenever a website asks for permission to connect to the wallet, don't do it.

I don't know how it is possible from technical side. But if the site is too suspicious, new registered domain, newly made site without any good reputation, no reviews in the internet, using or connecting your main wallet to it is the most stupid thing a person can do, that's why being knowledgeable is the only way to avoid them.

This is a very familiar scam in the crypto world but maybe relatively new in the gambling casinos. Usually the scammer will give you information about any airdrop or free money / tokens and ask you to connect your wallet. Once your wallet is connected, they will get hold of all your funds and your wallet will be emptied.

Similarly, many scam web 3.0 casinos may appear recently, and they will again ask you to connect your wallet. As soon as you connect it, the hackers will withdraw all your funds in it.

Solution

So the question arises what the solution for this is and how we will know if it is a scam web 3.0 casino or not?

Well, as a precautionary measure, do not connect our main wallet (which has funds) with these casinos. Make a new wallet, deposit only a few dollars with which you want to play, and connect that wallet with casino. In this case, even if the casino scams, you will only lose very little amount.

That's what I'm thinking right now that new model casinos like web 3.0 have a way to connect a wallet directly as we saw at Owlgames casino which uses a web 3.0 system by connecting a wallet directly when you want to gamble and there are several other new casinos with the same system but I can't remember the name of the casino.
But the problem here is that if it's a new casino using a new system like web 3.0, yesterday's complainant should provide some evidence such as screenshots or txid evidence to see if he really made that large withdrawal.
What's even more strange is that when Op replied to the topic created by the scammer yesterday, it was deleted by the thread owner because it was self-moderated.
If it really isn't a scam, the Op's reply should not have been deleted by the thread owner and if it has been deleted, it means that there is indeed an indication that the casino is a scam.

I am still wondering how someone would wake up from sleep and start telling people to believe in their post as authentic and genuine with ill intentions of account phishing and possible hack. What annoys me most is that people still fall victim of such gimmicks and tricks. Well most people who fall victim of such are the greedy ones who are not satisfied with their current state and are always moved by give aways that in the real sense are not realistic. They end up getting scammed by scammers and their wallets hacked. Some too are just too lousy and ignorant of doing their own research properly before engaging and after getting scammed they start crying and shouting for help which is not possible. I think people should be careful the way they click on links and should always do their research before getting themselves engaged in any investment activities so as to avoid the unfortunate.

A moderator or a regular from the Meta section will certainly be able to talk about that more accurately but AFAIK moderators have a feature allowing them to send posts and threads into a kind of hidden trashcan instead of deleting them. Moderators will correct me if I'm wrong but this place is the board number 15 actually. When they do that, the owner of the post/thread doesn't receive any notification and the event is not recorded into the modlog. It could be the explanation here.

I thought that he was a true lucky person and never thought that it was a scam despite me thinking how come that no other user in the forum have posted such a big win,I checked out the replay and I loved what I saw there,most probably they were playing with FUN money in the casino.This was a sophisticated scam attempt I must admit and the OP bringing this up here is a great example of showing how sophisticated the scams have become.I never play in a casino who asks me to connect my wallet except only in casinos that I can deposit money to their internal wallet,so the lesson to be learned from everyone here at least in my understanding is never play in a casino which asks you to connect your wallet,as it is most likely a scam to drain your wallets.

The stated amount of winnings is a bait to make readers interesting on the site.  The asking for help is just a lee way so that he can get the attention of several people here, then later he stated that the amount went through.  With that huge amount of money being released by the platform, many will think that the platform is legit.

So that post is some kind of player-baiting then implements their method of scam via injecting a script that will sweep the funds of any wallet that connect to the site.

Scammers are getting more creative and advance day by day.  It is really hard to trust newly created sites and services nowaday.

Much depends on the approvals that the user grants to the smart contract. Many users don't care about this at all and eventually their wallets will be devastated. So we have to be extremely careful and cautious when interacting with Web3. Ideally, after each approval, revoke that approval if we no longer use the dApp.

I came across that thread yesterday, but after reading the op, I was very hesitant to reply, I was going to check out the site as well, but something else distracted me, and got my mind off it, and I could remember to check out the site again even after I was done with what distracted me initially.

I don't know how it is possible from technical side. But if the site is too suspicious, new registered domain, newly made site without any good reputation, no reviews in the internet, using or connecting your main wallet to it is the most stupid thing a person can do, that's why being knowledgeable is the only way to avoid them.

Yes, web3 sites require connection, that is why so many people fall for these types of phishing attempts. Phishing attempts (like the one itch.eth attempted and like the ZKasino phishing attempt) will also require wallet connection in order to view or access any part of the casino (or in some cases, even the social medias of the casino) with permissions that will allow the phisher to wipe the wallet clean of anything that is in it, if the connection is established.

The first time I noticed that thread appearing here I found weird the fact a newbie would knew how to make a self-moderated thread and also it was weird someone would withdraw over 200,000 $ through Ethereum without having any idea on how cryptocurrency works, so decided to ignore the thread.  

Folks, for Satoshi's sake: never connect your wallet to any website/casino you have never used before and keep the bulk of your coins in your hardware wallet.

Thanks for the warning agentF, I asked my self if something like that was possible since a long time ago, I mean, the fact that we connect our wallet to a random site and then lose all our coins. And is good to know that's possible, it sucks and is a big risk for all, but by knowing it could happen then we can be more careful while navigating on the web that ask us to connect our wallet.

The way that the scam operates is really impressive, they find a vulnerability in the browser wallets and a vulnerability in the forum, and the fact that they made self-moderated topics is kind of frustrating for the users who want to warn the community. I also prefer the conventional direction like this because it will be more worth it to deposit coins as usual rather than having to link all of our wallets. Admittedly in this case their target is clearly beginners but at least

Yes it's a click bait scam and those who are not aware of this strategy can lose their funds after connecting their wallet. About connecting wallet, as far as I remember you never need to give the seed. You do it through metamask or your hardware wallet to stay safe.

yes that's what makes me weird so I replied to his post that it's better to show the Tx id to see the transaction, but I'm also strange why a beginner understands about threads in self-moderation especially big wins as if we have to check the site to help him, but I think people a savvy person won't go easy just connecting a wallet just like that after all it's never safe if it's not on a reputed site because most gamblers prefer to use email to register and play in casinos. but still need to be careful with crimes like this

From merely seing this one should have sensed something abnormal and unusual about the thread, the casino and how they have deemed fit to request for connecting your wallet to their website, an ideally good casino wouldn't have done such, gamblers need to open their eyes on this because this is not something new expected from casinos anymore but a complete way of scamming.

Although this scam attempt exist already but it can still caught those newbies who's curious about the situation what that guy experiencing on. And for bringing up the discussion about their method is really notable since this could save the funds of newbie's which think about they can get money if they help the OP on his issue on the casino he pointed out. We also need to be aware that to many methods use by several scammers so before taking any actions we should see first their intention and always verify it carefully to avoid losing our hard earned money.
