Edit: CLOSED  Watch the thread for finaly payout info

Edit: 102% now, we will pay for rejects soon. Will move to a new better sever soon. Thanks

Edit: Warning there will soon be significant downsides to Hopping our hopping proxy. If you are hopping expect to not be paid earnings.

Edit :This is why our data center is being attacked    http://money.cnn.com/2012/03/26/technology/microsoft-raid/

Seems the data center was hosting the C&C and they are attacking it out of revenge.

This means that for right now we are not going to be as stable as we were until they stop.

Also we are down 95 BTC since starting this (coin paid out to miners, not including other costs). We have had some issues and we had thought some of the money would be made back with GPUMAX. But as you all know that is not working right now. It also seems we are being hoped and that is killing us. Until we can fix some of this stuff we are going to have to cut the payment down to 105%

My goal was to give you guys most of the profit but we can't keep up daily losses. Once we break even we will make the percent higher. I understand some or most of you might leave and that is fine. You will be welcomed back once we get it 100%.

Thanks.

We need to adjust to 105% until we can at least fix things until we are breaking even. Give us a day or so, very sorry, we will fix prices soon!

TESTING @ 105% PPS

Ready for the first testers of the newest version. Might be a bit rough.

If you want to be a first tester go to #tygrr on freenode a.s.a.p. Thanks.

also http://project2.tygrr.com/?register to sign up!

Edit: We are not fully ready to go so we need to cut this down to 116% until we can make some money. Losing $200 worth of bitcoin a day at this rate :/

Also stales are very very low!.

Sorry El Cabron, you are banned from posting or sending personal messages on this forum.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. Server-assisted clients like blockchain.info rely on centralized servers to do their network verification for them. Although the server can't steal the client's bitcoins directly, it can easily execute double-spending-style attacks against the client.

Tesla?

One M2090 (GTX580 based Tesla) would barely be able to break 150Mhash.  It would also draw around 250 watts while doing so.  They're horrible mining cards.

Thanks for your reply. And this is why we are paying 110% right now. If it happens again it should only lost for a few seconds. Thanks.

Overall everything else is good?
How is the testing going? Need any more hash power?

Sorry I did not understand. I am rounding up because I am doing all of this by hand. I really don't care right now if I give away and extra .01 here and there:)  you will get a bit less with the front end that is coming soon. Sorry for the delay in the answer.

I was expecting full precision payouts as well, but rounding up with 110-105% sounds good to me Smiley

Sure, as long as you get 110% payouts, 1% stales is acceptable Smiley. But its definitely not good. Im getting ~0.1% stales on bitminter.

Will there be merged mining?

I'm working on a personal project using namecoin and actually want to use them unlike most people who are just mining to have more things to sell.

Hello All,

To be blunt I want your hashing power!    So much so that I will pay 110% expected PPS!

payout_per_share = block_reward / difficulty = BTC 50 / 1155038.3339636 = 0.0000432886065594  x 110% = .00004761746722 BTC per share!

I will guarantee this rate until after Christmas and then 105% for at least 2 week after that. The payout might drop a bit after that but it will be closer to 105% than 100%. The rate will depend on how much hashing power I am able to buy.

Please PM for an account and an address. I will make payments daily so also send me your bitcoin address. If you hash at a significant rate I will pay in advance daily.

Our front end should be up in a week or so. Right now I will be doing everything by hand so if you don't trust me just ask for advance payment:)

Thanks!

I tried merged mining namecoins, and my bitcoin performance dropped 10%. I wouldn't mind if namecoin price would make up for the difference, but namecoins is just 0.008 to 0.009 BTC.  It just didn't make sense for me.

Yeah So I got paid finally. And even though I am happy that my hashes were not sent to waste. I would totally discourage anyone from this so called project !! The person in charge is very rude !

Below are Personal Message recieved from GOAT. After asking why my payment has not showed up

Msg1

"When I tried to pay you, you were not mining. I went to try to pay you now and guess what? You are not mining!
You will get paid but if you would read the thread you would know my hands are tied."

Msg2

"You failed to read my thread... Once I pay you your name and IP will be banned from all further transactions."

Msg3

"you have been paid, stop mining and never come back"

Now noting that I did read the thread and i did turn back on a miner after his first response. But I did not know I had to be running indefinately or at least had to be running the miner at the given time when he felt like looking to make a payment. All in all its not worth all the trouble!!and he only sends payments to 2 digits. Where is the rest of my coin Huh?

Not saying its a scam but! It might as well be cause the service SUCKS !!!!

and I want my payment for the extra 161 hashes i submitted this morning just to get my previous money i dont care how small the amount is gimme my coin !!!and all of it. I dont want to have anything to do with u or your project !!!

I have talked to goat myself recently and I find him to be a nice and polite person. I would like to see what your answers were in this story not only what goat told you. As for the 2 digits goat has previously stated that he's doing everything manually so give him a break sending off manual payouts is hard enough without having to do it down to 8 decimal points.

  he rounds up.

Since that also may not have been clear like the 'need to be mining to see your shares' statement was or wasn't.  It made sense to me but I can see where he could have a bit more patience with what you posted anyhows.

I haven't gotten paid in a while...

Any ETA on the frontend

EDIT: So somehow the email you sent me got sent to my spam folder.  I logged into the site and everything is 0s.  You made my account as "redemerald1" but my miner has been working on "redemerald."  I really hope that all my earned shares are not lost.  Any reason for the different username?

I'll be mining on another pool until you let me know whats up.

I had the same problem.

I had to rename the miner worker name to the new name, then values start to show in the UI.

Goat then paid me for the original worker shares manually.

I wouldn't be worried about losing the bitcoin, but PM him to make sure you get paid.

Hi everyone. Sorry for the delay. I was busy with work and had the new years party last night, then got rather sick (food poisoning). I am taking the day off today and should be able to catch up on everything and even make an FAQ.

Sorry for the bumpy start.
This felt good to see

We have had reports that emails are being sent to the spam box. Can you check that and see because you should have an email with your information. PM again if you did not get one. We are still working out a few bugs. Thanks.

sure enough, the one form Tygrr went to spam. It of course had the useful info in it. The generic one that just said the thing was up went to the inbox. ;p

Edit; Ok, got front end info ok. user/pass work fine. What is the pool info? I tried using the site there with your custom port and 8332. Nither connect.

Yeah there is one. It's pretty minimalistic, but there's shares, rejected shares, account balance, a button to request payment and a form to change your password.

Maybe it is just because I am paying attention to my miner today, but there seem to be all sorts of stability issues.  Cgminer keeps having communication issues.  Is anybody else noticing this?

Indeed, I have like 2% reject and my node keeps falling back to Deepbit quite regularly (in my Deepbit stats I've got shares in like half the blocks). Looks like there's been a downtime a couple hours ago, too. But, well, as long as you've got a backup pool, 2% of rejected shares isn't too much of an issue since we get 110% of what's left.

Same here. Backup pool is essential, although this pool's uptime is good, not quite 100% yet.

The front end is working great.  It provides all of the important information.

My only other feature request would be an automatic (or daily) payout.  I don't know what your backend looks like.  It could either be easy, or hard.

Things seem to be running smoothly so far.

I think they are still manual (I requested one 30 minutes ago).  I don't even see a way to change the sending address.  Sounds like a difficult hack Smiley

Work networks tend to block funky ports. Try setting up some SSH tunnel over port 443 (but don't blame me if your IT police comes to spank you Grin).

Hi, Right now 110% but that will be moved to 105% very soon. Costing me too much:)
What we earn at 110% will stay the same though, right? I'm assuming nothing will be lost if I don't payout before the rate changes.

aye, I've got faith in Goat that what is listed as 'earned' on your account will retain its number.

Goat man, what gives with the stale rate? Ever sence the small spike from the other day when there was some reported large number of connections it has been over 1% for me. It was stable at .1% or less for 4 days straight before that. Has been at ~1.6% at best since then.  Are there just that many people mining here now? :/

cheers

Just fired a miner back up to test the connection and seeing consistent issues.  Can't go more than a minute without "Connection problems" in Guiminer...

Loaded up 4 more miners and same issue - keep getting disconnected.

Will change this to 105% in about 30 hours. We will keep 105% for at least 2 weeks but odds are longer.

Thanks.

OK so how much are you going to pay per share from now on ?

50/1250758 = 0.0000399757587

so +5% is = 0.0000419745466

Is that correct ?

Is MM enabled with NMC ? How about TX fees are those shared out ( probably not ) ?

How can I join. I expect to have about 3.5 ghash/s soon.

How does your offer in terms of PPS compare with something like P2Pool ?

Is there a front end where I can check shares submitted etc. ?

Thanks !

Quote from: Goat on Today at 08:20:39 AM
people are not going to be happy about being charged back for unpaid shares, what should i tell people?

From my back end guy

"I'm not sure what to tell people, other then that the system was paying them for rejected shares which earn no value on submission.  You can tell them they were making more then the more you were already giving them, now you're just offsetting the difference ?  I can change it back if you'd like to pay them for rejects instead Smiley, but I don't think there's availability to add "rejects from now on". "

So there is nothing I can do. If you want to get paid for your rejects so far PM and I will send you an extra payment. But in the future we will not be paying for rejects.

Also some people have had issues with high reject rates. This is mostly small miners in the 200M to 4M hash/S range. It seems that there is no way to fix this. In the future we will ask that only 500MHash/S be added. If you are above this and still getting a high reject rate please PM and we will look into your case.

Thank you.

Aah, interesting.  No worries.  Just wanted to make sure it wasn't a bug.

Well you really did as Total shares included rejected shares. This was a mistake on either my back end guy or my front end guy or both. I am not really sure. Anyway if you want me to pay you for all the rejected shares just send me a PM and I will work it out.

From what I am being told there is no way to fix this with out taking out all the rejected shares. I really do not know what else I can do.

Thank you.
OK, I rechecked my logs, and I can confirm this error.  The "shares unpaid" included the rejected shares for that period. I didn't notice because the payouts were what I would have expected at ABC +10%,  but ABC includes stales which are usually under 0.5%.

Going forward, the problem is fixed, right?

I'm still getting around 1-3% stale shares today here across my 96 GPU's. Yesterday was 4% and above.

Is there an estimate on how long it takes for earned shares to go to pending and/or paid out?

Oh I suppose I was thinking of it more as sort of an unconfirmed balance and didn't even think just to push the pay out button..

Crazy me. Thanks!

That's weird, I don't have that many rejects, I must be around 1-2%... But I do have regular micro-downtimes where my miner falls back to secondary pool.

1% to 2% should be expected with how things are set up now.

The 105% should more than make up for this. If you see over 3% let me know. We have issues with FPGA and proxy's for sure. Might be other things as well.

Where is your server located Goat? Maybe, it would be the best to me.

Most ppl in here are from US correct?

For whatever reason you seem to have the worst luck with us on reject and connections issues. Honestly I have no idea why:(

Is anyone else having abnormal connection issues today? My server is in the USA and I personally am connecting fine from Thailand :/
Connecting from Europe, no particular issue this morning. But still, for almost each other block I send a few shares to my backup pool...

As soon as you ask for a payout I get an email. If I am not sleeping it will normally be about 5 mins. If I am sleeping it could take 6 hours, maybe more.

Any idea when you will have this automated?  an automated once daily payout would be really spiffy Smiley

I have a Radeon HD 4650 and consequently can only push around 27Mhash/s. I'm part of a mining pool and get payouts daily around 0.02BTC for my submitted work I was fortunate enough to solve a block as part of the pool effort. Should I stay with my current setup or move to solo mining and hope I have better luck of solving a block on my own.

So what should someone who's been mining for you do when after they use their mined coins to buy Alpaca Socks law enforcement shows up and tells them that their coins were the marked proceeds from a sting operation related to drugs, arms sales, child porn trade, or that they were bitcoins reported previously stolen and that they have a warrants to seize all their computers to look for evidence?

The word on IRC is that these private services which pay >100% PPS in BTC for mining are doing this because they're attempting to get rid of 'dirty' coins which could potentially be traced in exchange for freshly mined coins.  Certainly this is the only thing I've heard that makes any economic sense at all, but if it's true don't the miners have a right to know what role they're playing in this and what risk they're taking?

Have I got it wrong?  Can you help me understand what the business is here?

You want to know how my service works? Read the FAQ like everyone else or send me a PM. You do not like me reselling hashing power then don't send me hashing power. Free market deal with it.

Unfortunately I can't find any explanation of what this hashing power is used for which justifies paying greater than it's direct present value.

If you were operating a service which paid $1.15 for every $1 sold to it, which is what your service is precisely isomorphic to, the same concerns would be raised.

The accusations were already circulating before I brought up the question here. You should be happy to have the opportunity to answer them directly.

Quote
Linking me to Child Porn, Arms and Drugs is a shame upon you. I challenge you to provide evidence to back your accusations! You can not so you are a fool and your reputation will reflect it. It is too bad for you that you are ignorant but that is not my problem.

I did not intend it as accusation, I thought I was adequately clear: I do not know, and I'm looking for answers.  I posed a hypothetical— If you are not in, in fact, engaging in a business which facilitates flimsy bitcoin laundering via mining then I am apologetic for implying otherwise.

Certainly you must agree that when someone sells mining or bitcoin for instant returns _in bitcoin_ of greater than 100% without cautiously evaluating the business they are getting involved with that there is a _risk_ that their funds could be used to launder for these sorts of activities and that the kind of caution I was encouraging is advisable. No?

I see that you did not, in fact, answer my questions:

Are you using this mining power to engage in bitcoin laundering?
If so, are you personally aware of the details of the transactions which you are laundering for? Can you certify that your service is not facilitating any unlawful or unethical activity?

Will your activity potentially bring unwanted attention by authorities to your mining employees?

I can find no answer to these questions in your documents. Nor does your your veiled contract offering fairly large sums to manufacturer fake "evidence" against me, inspire great confidence on my part.

I'll go hide the first paragraph of my message if it is a distraction which is preventing you from controlling your emotion long enough to give straight factual answers to these questions which I believe are of great interest to the community here.

Quote
I realize you are only making this personal attack because I did not support Luke Jr. in his attack of the alt chain but really grow up and be a man.

I have very little clue about you personally. Your response here and in other places I've seen you interact does not inspire me with any confidence about your character— but thats irrelevant.  You have previously ignored private message, so I haven't really had a chance to get to know you. I did not intend to attack your character here (you're doing a good enough job of that yourself), I only intended to ask some serious questions.

If you look at my posts you can see that I'm not a great advocate of Luke's— and I don't harbor any ill will against you related to that.  I asked because I'm concerned about the health of the bitcoin community, the well-being of my fellow miners, and the reputation of Bitcoin itself.

Oh the irony... the first bounty is used to imply there is no such evidence, and the second bounty to imply there is?

On another note, my bets are on "there was no such cited illegal activity before, but there will be soon now that it's been (effectively) suggested"

I have 3x but i get massive fail from my own work and I do not know why lol! Wanted to know if anyone else had the same issue.
The best performance on them comes from DiabloMiner with no special arguments.

That is not normal at all. We will look into it right now. If you ever see over 3% PM me ASAP. Thanks

PM me your software miner. Thanks

I just started today and in the mornings it was around 6%. Right now it came down to 3.5%, a little high but it most likely to some disconnects that I've seen in the logs.

My interest is piqued at what you're doing with the hashing power.... but you obviously aren't going to let the cat out of the bag.

You're pointing the hashing power at P2Pool and eating the loss for the good of Bitcoin. Tongue Awesome! Smiley

No, But that is a long term goal. I want to make and support a p2p pool. I however do not have the skill to set it up. I will fund it. Anyone know how to do it?

p2pool.stitthappens.com:8336 no fees Smiley

It's pretty easy to setup.

Install bitcoind with server=1 in the conf
Install a couple packages with apt
Git checkout the project
Open a screen
cd to the project and ./run_p2pool.py <bunch of params>

Hopefully this diagram will help with your config.

Don't forget to open the ports on your router/firewall.

Also I modified the ports because I wanted to try litecoin p2pool, so these don't conflict if you want to do that.

[edit]You probably want to specify a bitcoin payout address -a <btc address> in the command to start p2pool. I left that out.

10G or more - 115%
5G to 9.999G - 111%
4.999G or less - 105%
Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Edit: title should be updated to reflect those. It's easy to be catchy when only a few percent users can actually reach the 115%...

Why would they need it? They are already running p2pool?  Smiley

I updated the diagram, fixing the typo for namecoind merged-url.

I only did the diagram because trying to do two instances of p2pool in my head required too much brain work.

And why is the namecoind config file named bitcoin.conf?  Uggh...

With the amount of rejects I get, 105% knocks me down to right around 100%. But that's still better than other PPS sites, so I'll stay.

We are working on the rejects as you can see. We know the source of most of it and are trying to correct the problems however at times we just ahve to eat them:(

As long as I'm not losing money because of them, I'm fine with it.

POCLBM is broken and will fail at every pool. Do not use this by itself or with GUI miner. Inaba noticed this issue at eclipsemc and I think it is part of our problem as well. Please change to CG miner if you can. I have had issues with Diablo miner with the 7970s Sad

So Diablo is broken as well !? I thought it was only poclbm problem. Thanks for telling us !

There was nothing wrong, sorry that you feel its my fault. when i first started i was getting like 3.6-3.8 which was awesome. There must have been something fishy going on over the weekend. I guess consistent disconnects. That's the only plausible explanation. I can get up to 5.2gh but over a week i average closer to 4.8 so im not gonna be getting the 115 so thanks anyway.

I have been mining for 8 months and never had issues with miners/settings/pools. I always got exactly what my mhash reflected. I haven't changed anything when switching to different pools. This is the only one that disappointing me Sad I feel so noobish for not setting up a backup server. I never needed to in the past.

By down you mean, lower than 117-115% or even lower than 105%?
Anyway, I like that concept of organized pool hopping, it gives people who can't afford the time setting up hopping for themselves the opportunity to do it while hopefully teaching people who don't care a lesson about proportional mining being bad and PPLNS being a better solution...

We will keep the floor at 105% as long as we can. The rates for higher hashes will be coming down some. 1.5Gwill have to stay at the 105% rate now. We are killing off pools right and left and thus our income is going way down. We can only pay out what we bring in and honestly I have had weeks where I lose money.

Yeah so much for those saying hopping brings in 140% PPS. Roll Eyes

I do not hop deepbit so what does that leave me with? Lol.
The 140% was when all pools were prop and there were no hoppers.

I will open my books when I end the project and you will see it no were close to 140%.

I'm not kidding at all when I say I have had one week where one server pulled under 100% !!

So are you saying that hopping is now dead / not profitable since everyone is doing it etc. ?

Of course if everyone does it it doesn't work anymore.... But that's the point after all. All to PPLNS Wink (or equivalent, I don't really know much about this "DGM" thing).

My miner's reporting "connection refused". Anyone else having such troubles?

If there is something that will make Bitcoin succeed, it is growth of utility - greater quantity and variety of goods and services offered for BTC. If there is something that will make Bitcoin fail, it is the prevalence of users convinced that BTC is a magic box that will turn them into millionaires, and of the con-artists who have followed them here to devour them.

Can those who mine on this pool show us some of the funds they received in block explorer? Are you getting "fresh" coins or old ones?

Goat, where is the FAQ that you referred gmaxwell to?  You seem like a cool guy, but this pool seems too good to be true.

update:

I have had no contact from my server guy for about 24 hours. Clearly I have no idea why. He disabled everything and was trying to to fix it last time he talked with me. For right now I will assume something crazy happened like, car accident, drunk in the gutter, arrested for being drunk in the gutter, whole cities internet went off line.. who knows... I will give him a reasonable amount of time to respond and then I will give out his personal information. I know what city he lives in, his name, ways you can find his address, his forum name stuff like that. However we are not to that point. Going off line for 24 hours even in a crisis can have a reasonable explanation.

I have no access to the servers and I have no access to any data on the servers right now. He has no access to the bitcoin so it makes little since for him to do this intentionally. I'm very sorry for the down time and for the locked coins but I will try to have this resolved quickly.

Thank god for that !

The last thing we need is yet another "OMG, I got hacked, they stole all my BTC, now I cannot pay you fools that mined" incident after a1bitcoinpool, btcserv, ozcoin etc. ...

.....people were making requests for payment when their balance was in the 1000s......
That is fucking SAD.
Considering that you did alot of 'management' manually, yourself.... (payments etc) hopefully you can find out which of your users PURPOSELY tried to screw you, or take advantage of an already bad situation.....and in finding who made these withdrawal requests, THEY SHOULD GET NOTHING, since they tried to fuck you over and couldn't.

There are far more Users who are scammers than services in this community and that is obvious at times like this.
I am almost starting to think that this community screams 'SCAMMER' every time a new service/product/opportunity comes out due to their own guilty consciences and nothing more.

Many members did send me a PM about this issue (I was sleeping at the time).

Once we get Eveofwar back and get the data everyone will be fully paid for their work.

You are going to pay even the user(s) who tried to STEAL from you ? The ones who attempted to withdraw hundreds of BTC from their accounts when it was obviously a mistake and they knew about it ? only to try take advantage of it ?

You are a much better person than I am then.....because if I was able to find out who was trying to rip me off, I would simply say FUCK 'EM and give them NOTHING Wink

I'm guessing most of them knew that he made manual payouts by hand anyways, and perhaps tried to run a withdrawal in order to alert him of any issue.

Any update on this pool?  From what I've seen of your posts as of late (or at least since that jack-ass ran out on your previous operation) you're a big fan of the p2pool stuff and if I recall correctly you were looking into some hybrid private-p2pool?  What's your new venture going to look like?  Inquiring minds want to know...

I was going to give a percent of the money to p2pool but I'm really put off on their .5% hidden fee. I need to see how aware people are of this before I move in that direction.
I definitely wasn't aware of this fee.

It isn't "hidden", and you can adjust the fee to whatever you want, including disabled (no fee at all). I believe that recent versions have it disabled by default anyway.

I can confirm that on the version I deployed recently for Bitcoin Syndicate (which was the most recent version as of a week or two ago) it was disabled by default. And also clearly marked and explained in the config/readme

Shit goes down all the time, this was an experiment and he resolved everything when he was able. He did not run out and dealt with the issues once he was able to. People have issues in real life and BTC does not out weigh family. You are really ignorant on what is going on and should politely STFU. We agreed that to move on to the next level that we would need someone with more time to work on this.

I really like p2p and liked p2pool. I was going to give a percent of the money to p2pool but I'm really put off on their .5% hidden fee. I need to see how aware people are of this before I move in that direction. In the future I will be setting up a hybrid p2p pool of some wort but we are just trying to get operational first.

Right now we will mostly be hopping prop pools but we will grow in in the p2p direction.

Thanks.

Mea Culpa Eveofwar, the last posts I saw were not flattering to you...this was from Goat on the on 2/19/2012:

Quote
Well I think it is about time to out the server guy...

He is Eveofwar and has not made any effort to contact me. I am going to assume he is in a car accident or jail or something like that because it makes no sense for him to run.

He is also located in Las Vegas so if a trusted member would like to try and make contact with him that might be helpful. I have an idea where he might be but I can't check from Thailand.

I am open to any other ideas as I would like to get this resolved ASAP.

Also we are starting over with a new server guy and will have all the features that members have been asking for. The stability should be improved as well. This should be up in a week or so.

Sorry again guys for all the trouble:(

There does not appear to be anything between that post and this that explains what truly happened (may have been another thread?).

Regarding the hidden fee, you mean the auto-donate which can be disabled?  I believe forrestv has setup a payment address that splits between his dev efforts, the p2pool.info website and paying a reward back into the pool.  Perhaps he will funnel the 0.5% default fee to that address to grow a larger adoption rate.  P2pool seems to have hit critical mass in the ~300GH/s range for some reason.

I seem to be having some problems with connecting to the pool using CGminer, when I enter the pool information the program just stands still and nothing happens. I also tried using GUIminer and then it had connection issues, is this due to that the server is down or is it just something wrong with my mining software?

Thanks

They just did a fairly major software upgrade  Grin

If any of you guys use https://github.com/cdhowie/Bitcoin-mining-proxy however you'll get really nice and smooth rollovers. It's well worth running for more or less hassle free rollovers etc. You need to change the output format though to json from json-rpc to use it properly with ecoinpool pools.

After last payout, shares did not reset to zero.

Total Shares in stats section is correct, so correct number of shares can be calculated by subtracting the shares already paid from total shares.

Indeed, I have about 1.2% rejects now while I used to have in the 3+% before. Much better, this almost compensates the 120->116% change Cheesy
Edit: however, the pool is being slow right now: cgminer is flooding me with "pool not providing work fast enough" messages, making me mine around 500MH/s instead of the usual 700.

120% was high because some down time and the like.

Sooner or later we will have to lower the percent down even lower for people who do not mine with us 100% of the time. For people who do mine with 100% of the time we will try to keep you at 116%.

Thanks

Will this involve people that only mine say day/night time only, meaning we do not pool hop but we simply do not mine 24 hours a day?

How do you manage to lose money on this? Even if you just redirect the hashes to GPUmax, you ought to make a small profit, as you currently get ~120% PPS average just from running public jobs. I know its down from it was before, but its still ~120%. If you do any hopping on top of that, its kinda hard to see how youd make less than 130% PPS Huh

That's a rather simplistic calculation particularly if you take into account the number of pools that have switched away from proportional payouts to less hoppable ones. And you aren't allowing for server costs or other overhead.

And nevermind the fact that a large % of the shares generated here are only generated when GPUMAX isn't accepting public work in the first place.

Of course, thats why its "only" 120% currently. AFAIK, public work is still paid at 150% PPS, but its only ~40% of the shares. You should end up with about 120% average per day if you just point your miners to GPUmax and have a zero fee private pool. Unless gpumax prioritizes small miners, but I have never heard of that.

Overhead and server costs are not a reason to refuse miners. If anything youd want more to cover the fixed costs. Refusing miners indicates "per share" losses, which is hard to grasp for me since gpumax alone ought to cover it.

As for hopping, well, fortunately prop pools are indeed a dying breed, but hopping just one prop pool, depending how badly its being hopped, will get you close to that 10% extra already, and its not like there is only 1 pool you can hop.  If you cant get 116% with a gpumax account and hopping, you are doing something wrong.

Why do you have such a hard time understanding that GPUMAX can't help this project much?  SMART miners are mining @ gpumax and setting this project as the private pool.  If all the hashing power comes into this project when GPUMAX isn't accepting public work, what do you think happens?  Even if this project's miners mine 100% of the time (which isn't gonna happen), GPUMAX is only running ~50% public work right now.

True.  Either way I bet 50% plus of the folks in this project will only use as the private pool for GPUMAX - which means he can't be sending the power to GPUMAX.

You should read more carefully. Goat is not paying 116% if you dont mine here 100% of the time. Anyone "hopping" between this pool and gpumax will only get 100% from goat (which makes complete sense, mind you).

GPUmax is also closer to 40% public work atm, but the math isnt very hard.  0.4 x 150% PPS + 0.6 x 100% PPS = 120% PPS without any hopping at all. So how does one get below 116% for full time miners?

He's paying everyone 116% right now, regardless of your mining "style".  In his last project, and I assume this one, he stated CLEARLY that he didn't mind the hopping between GPUMAX and him.  The point is he can not just feed work to GPUMAX since:

1.) There isn't enough public work available
2.) When there IS public work available, we are sending hashes to GPUMAX and not this pool

So once GPUMAX normalizes and gets back to periods of 100% public and 100% private work, goat won't be able to use GPUMAX much.  We will all be using him when the GPUMAX work is all private.

I thought GPUMAX banned Goat's pool because it was some sort of endless loop or lagging ?

How are you guys putting Goat as the private pool then ?

Maybe Goat is actually running through GPUMAX and getting a 4% cut for himself ( no evidence, just speculation ) ?

Thanks !

So he is not penalising for this "hopping" behaviour then ?

I swear that project #2 used to be banned on GPU MAX last time ...

I am consistently mining with a portion of my rigs and the others are at GPUmax amongst other places.  There is more going to project#2 now due to the % off private work 65%.

When Goat opens this up to more users he might impose rules on minimum hash power and varies bonus PPS rates (just speculation on my part).

Nope I've always used this pool as private pool for gpumax.  Dig back a little and with project 1 goat specifically said he didn't mind if you hopped to him from gpumax.  I think he's doing his own hopping, more power to him.
