Why only a Bitcoin trading pair is the best thing?

I don't know I always thought USDT trading pair is the best thing actually, or if not, the USD "pair" that is available direct on exchanges.

I remember Binance and Bittrex charge something like less than 10 cents commission for that but if you trade BTC the satoshis add up to several dollars per trade.

The liquidity is even bigger also on stablecoin/fiat pairs (since it's literally limitless).

Crypto to crypto of course BTC wins every time. Except in DEX

There is no other pair other than USDT may be considering its stability point of view. If you think that trading alts with other alts is beneficial then that thought is not wrong as well. The reason is simple: as long as you are able to trade against other pairs with good volume and your orders are getting fulfilled then you are already doing great.

The only concern is volume and not the price. For any trading pair with only slightest accuracy prices are one and the same. Otherwise we would have been doing scrapping and leaving the trading behind us.

Most of the time bitcoin is good due to it's volume, and little hiked price. But as such I don't think it matters a lot?

I personally would love to get as much bitcoin as possible, but if I had another altcoin, I may sell some of it to get bitcoin instead. I do not know why you feel the need to write like that, but you are right. Bitcoin may feel like it is not the best pair to trade if you want to take extra risks and make more money, not a lot of people would do something like that and it would not be a big problem for you neither.

I feel like the best thing to do would be making sure that you end up with a good profit and if you take that extra risk there is a chance you could end up losing. You may want to let your hair down for a second there, but that could cause you to lose more money than you anticipated and that is not something easy to handle later on. So focus on bitcoin pairs if you can, that is easier to handle, but if you really want to, go for the alts.

Long-term trading might have an element of long-term investing and that is a trader will need to patiently wait for his coin to recover before he sells it. Long term can also mean like a plan or commitment. Like for example one must trade for 2 years and after that, he can now quit. Trading and investment still has their differences. Bitcoin is the best coin in investing but Bitcoin can also work great in trading due to its characteristics.
