A screenshot can also be altered. So it should be both receiving a screenshot and as well as checking the app itself if you've the funds on your end.

One guy over here got scammed on Binance not too long ago after falling for the same modus operandi. Aside from not checking, he didn't have the app which would notify him of any transactions.

Binance already warn about this in their blog about this. Scammer are everywhere and They trying their best to deceive their victim. The above case is same and OP met with scammer for P2P trade. Bybit security is not higher standard level and we should double check before this kind of third party dealing. I will suggest Binance for P2P trading because i found it safe so far. No doubt scammer can be found everywhere but because of strict rules you will not face any scammer their.

Before doing P2P trading i will recommend to read some safety tips suggested by Binance in their blog. You should read full or at least below quoted for safe trading.

Quote
Never ask a seller to release a cryptocurrency before you complete the payment. The platform uses an escrow system to keep your assets safe. These funds are held until your payment is completed.

Never release the cryptocurrency before you receive the payment. If the buyer asks to release the crypto before payment, this may be regarded as a fraud and will lead to the blocking of the Binance account. Check out our guide to secure trading on Binance P2P.

If you are a newbie, use secure payment methods such as bank transfer and avoid those payment methods that may be reversible.

Lesson learned: Always check your balance directly on the wallet you are using and never trust an SMS notification. Avoid dealing with a user that has a low completed transaction despite they have a high trust rating because some of them are just farming trust through completing small orders until they have an established trust score
This is just about the same experience I've had trading p2p on Remitano exchange, but the beautiful thing about Remitano is that traders don't have access to other traders phone number, Remitano themselves will contact the trader for you either through phone call or in-app text notification.
I've encountered several scammers who attempted scamming me but never succeeded, probably due to their inability to gain access to their potential victim's phone number so as to send fake alert.

Scammers are every where, most especially, in the P2P market, we all must be very watchful and careful who we are dealing with at all time.

That's why those that are used to trade in P2P markets, whether it's from Binance, Bybit or any other exchanges that's quite popular. Always protect yourself and be active of checking notifs.

It's going to be your partner with these trades because if you just rely to the info fed by the person whom you're transacting with, it's possible that you'll get tricked by them if they do have the intention to scam.

Just like going in the banks, we tend to check notifications and slips to make sure that our money has been deposited or transferred. It should be a practice that everyone must remember to do.

Yes, scammers are everywhere, lessons here is:

a. Just check the trust page of this buyers if there is one, whether Binance and Bybit
b. Open your wallet first before transacting, so that you can see real time if money is being credited to you or not
c. If the scammers says that he did deposit already but there are not money in your wallet then don't released any if he/she insisted

I've trade on both platforms, I will say that I have experienced this kind of scams, but fortunately I wasn't a victim because I refused to released it when obviously if the buyer says that he deposited it but if there are nothing, then I'm not going to released even if he says so.
