Please, we should stop blaming government as the cause of this woman's selling her little baby. Hardship is at everyone's doorstep. she isn't the only mother facing hardship. If her own mother had being like her, would she have grown up without already be sold for a foolish reason or another. This woman should be handed over to the police for prosecution. Selling of babies can't be justifiable,it is illegal and an abuse to the child right as a human being. The buyer who bought the baby should be apprehended and the matter should be thoroughly be investigated and the woman should be charged to court.

What the woman did was extremely heinous, it is very difficult to accept how a mother could sell her child. I think she should be punished to the highest level for this heinous work, so that no one else is afraid to think about this heinous work in the future. Along with this, the person who bought the child should also be punished so that no one else does such an illegal work in the future. No matter how much danger we are in, selling people to save ourselves from danger cannot be the work of a sane person. This cannot be a solution, this is a very heinous and illegal act, whoever does this and everyone involved in it should be brought under the law and given the maximum punishment.

when I first read this story there were two observations that came into my mind as food for thought:

1. She was asked the reason for her actions. She said she wanted to repay a loan company, the loan repayment amount was 600,000 thousand naira, an insignificant amount not even enough to exchange a human being, no amount is even enough compared to a human being.

such action by a Mother exposes how hard the economy is really biting hard on the citizenry, for a mother to go through the process of pregnancy for 9 months and the pain of childbirth and yet still go ahead to sell her own child just to repay a loan, it's like taking us back to the slavery era in modern 21st'C.  

2. The second was in relation to how people take loans for ostentatious purposes such as birthday parties, wedding or luxurious living.  However as a human being, is always advisable to alway take loans for the purpose of financing projects with a Return-On-Investment potentials  you can use to pay back your loan.

Just because the opportunity  availed itself for you to borrow a certain amount you  know you cannot pay back, doesn't warrant you to jump on the opportunity, as it's rather not an opportunity in real sense but a debt trap.

There is no reason in this life that will make anyone to sell there child. The woman in questions is not worth to be call a mother. I think is just cooking up all this excuse just to justify her immoral action

Things have not gotten so bad. Some people just use economic hardship to escalate or embark on their evil agenda.

It is so unfortunate that people this days always want to justify their evil deed with the present economic situations in the nation and that is bad. I saw that news and I was so angry because am still yet to confirm  if truly the woman in question is the rightful owner of that child because a real mother can never do such to his child no matter what,  but for the fact that she was able to have the gods in carrying out such terrible crime then her ownership of the child in question remains questionable.

However, i hope the police is ready to carry out a clean job because lately they have been so unbelievable and many citizens has started losing trust on them.

This is unrealistic How could a mother sell her own child in the first place? It's too crazy, and for what? For a loan repayment?

I don't understand if people are becoming too desperate and crazy nowadays, or if I'm just constantly surprised by such news. I understand that she might not have any other options to pay off her loans, but selling your own child goes against humanity and is reminiscent of slavery.

Even if she's living a tough life and might end up going to prison, it's her problem, not the child's. The child must be free and has their own rights that no one can take away from them, the mother should go to jail and be punished for even considering such an act.

I'm not in support of what she did because that's inhumane, it means she doesn't have one single conscience because if she does she can't even have the thought of selling not to talk of selling her own blood out, though the pressure surrounding loan is crazy at times and if you don't  control yourself as someone who's owing you can do any stupid thing just to pay off the loan so you can have peace of mind, so I think in bid of having peace that's why she took that action which is against God and humanity.

If she had given the child as house help and get paid on monthly basis it would have been fine but selling a child off like a commodity is completely out of place. You can imagine when the child grows into an adult tomorrow and hear the story that his/her mother sold him/her out just to settle a loan, do you think such child can forget that kind of trauma?, so she should be punished for her actions.

I am highly disappointed at that woman because between father and mother, mother always have pity for her children than the father then what has come over this woman to behave in this manner. Despite the condition of the country, I still put 90% of blame on this woman because when you are talking of suffering there are other people that are even suffering more than her. See I feel every single mother should understand the fact of taking care of a child for 9month even the pains they pass through should be enough, the question is will she even have proper physical peace of mind throughout the whole of her life for what she has done this is much very unacceptable in the Nigeria constitution, well I was trying understand the fact un so called reason why she took that bold decision about selling her child to someone she doesn’t even know, all in the name of living to meet up a living having to sell what God gives us for free, and how funny this life can be at time when some people are out there looking for God to answer there prayers one day.
