Living on assumption and promises is more like spending money you haven't received. People can make promises but how sure are you that the promise will be fulfilled.

Promises and assumption has caused alot of people there job, imagine leaving your recent job because a friend promise to get you a better job. This may even cause someone his/her life if one base most of his/her lifestyle on promises and assumption.

I could remember when one of my friend put himself into serious debt believing he has already won a huge money from gambling. This was some year ago, match between Besiktas and Benfica. It was the last game of my friend's ticket. After 3 goal ahead by Benfica in the first half, he believed the game was over and Befica has won. He called us to celebrate. We started drinking and eating at a bar to celebrate this. After the end of the game, we were shocked as the game ended up in draw with 3- 3. This landed my friend into serious debt that took him some weeks to pay.

Similar stuff happened to me when I spend my finance school fee believing my salary will be paid in two days time but was shocked after the salary was prosponed due to some reasons. The school fee was needed urgently and this put me into serious issues but thanks to my friends who bailed me out. This same issue has happened to us once or twice in our journey of life.

Economically, this can affect our business. I have #300,000 to start a business. My Uncle promise to give me #200,000 to add to the business. Therefore,I made a plan of #500,000 for the biz. It was an agro business (livestock farming- piggery) so I start the business with my own capital. I acquire a portion of land and make some structures with all the #300,000 I have believing I will stock the farm with livestock with the money my Uncle promise me. This was a serious shock when my Uncle come up with stories and couldn't fulfill his promise. This render my plans useless. Remember I could have start the business with the #300,000 I have alone although in a smaller form. I have to get loan to balance up with this. If not for the loan my plans would have been highly be affected.

It's better for one to learn how to  plan on money at hand and not on promises and assumption.

When it comes to money, promises and assumptions shouldn't be tolerated as they can assure you that they could pay you in right given day. Even if the one is asking is part of your family like your sibling. We always have instinct that he/she might not pay you after lending them money. If you have that mindset when it comes to lending money then don't do it, since it's your instinct that dictate that they might not pay you. That's true in business relationships because we can't tolerate anything to do with money owed even if it's family. Business will fall apart if it is mixed with family relationships. I have experienced this problem because I thought helping the family was an obligation so that in the end their debts piled up and could no longer be paid.

Whereas we have to increase capital to cover their debts and in the end the business we run will be destroyed without anything left. The business concept sometimes has to be cruel, where the portion of assistance to family, relatives and friends must be separated, unless our business strength has reached the stage of success and has many branches.

If you're are introvert and awkward in socializing it would be possible for you to not ask them for their debt from you which is not be tolerated for me. You borrowed money of course you'll return it.

Money debts are mandatory in nature and there is no reason not to pay them off, even if it is to family, relatives or friends. Why should any individual be living on promises and assumptions when we know everyone can disappoint you at any point. Sometimes the disappointment can be intentional or due to situations not under their control. For example someone can promise you a job but later on, the job is no longer available because someone has given the job to another person and it might be his manager or a superior in the office that gave the job out.

We have to learn to only spend money we have at hand, it's okay to plan for money you're expecting but that should just be only plans and not spending it when it hasn't arrived. When you plan it helps you to spend wisely but never have an assurance on something that isn't in your possession yet

The only way to avoid assumptions and promises is not to rely on anyone or even risk our jobs as well as our assets because of false hopes. If you easily believe such promises and you act ahead to celebrate then that's your problem. When something is not concrete and you're only holding on to their words, don't be hopeful and rely too much because it's not certain yet.

This is the problem of some people who plan and spend ahead even what they count on is still uncertain. It can lead to disappointment and problems if you already act and expect that it will certainly happen. Remember the saying "don't count your chickens before they hatch", it means don't celebrate if you don't see the result yet. On my own understanding based on this narrative is that it is the same situation as you have a decent job that pays you well and since you know that you will be paid monthly or every 15th of the month you will spend more money knowing you have something to expect during salary. You cant really predict the outcome i mean this really happens to me everytime that you paid something and thinking that you'll get salary on that day but turns out not, so this assumption that you need to have like emergency funds , meaning if that day you will not get a salary you should have a money that can last you in a day or 2 just to be safe because if you dont have money on that day for sure you have nothing to eat.

I think that if a person promises to return your money on due date then may be he is true and surely he will find some way from which he will get money soon. Promises are not fake and once a person promise he will fulfil it but if unfortunately he can't then may be he has some  necessitation and we should understand this thing.

And as you are asking a question about a job so promises for getting cash and promises for job are two different thing. You can trust on your relative and friends but not too much to allow him to destroy your whole life. One about depending on someone promise, is that the promise can manifest into two way, which I believe that before someone will promise you at it know your qualifications or capacity before it will fulfill any promises, and secondly "note" that not all promise that is real, some promise is a strategies to feed you with what you want to hear and discharge you with good manners, using political promises to justify these, a politician will come to you and promise heaven and earth in the name of you supporting he/her to be able to occupy a political position but after been elected in office it will fails to accomplished the position, so I believe that if promise becomes accomplished its depends on the individual who wants to render help to you, while people do not help people because of their character other way the parents of the person soliciting for help has done him before it get elevated, so that's one of the major factors while some people withhold their help to people.

I guess the lesson here is very basic, yet it’s so hard to make it done. Exactly, this habit is the main root of big problems like, gambling, debt, interest, usury, and almost 10% of immoral activities if we started to name a few. I have seen many people near me doing the same mistake, they left one job to get another with good hopes.

I don't think we can manage to avoid such events because it's life and that's what life is for, we face situations from which we cannot break out, (like we called it bad times), but bad times are also a necessary part of our life because it helps us to differentiate between good and bad friends who comes handy in needs. Agreed, but as I said it's not possible to assume what's going to happen in the future and who is going to leave you after making promises because life is not the same for everyone who knows why your uncle was unable to fulfill his promise maybe he wants an exit so he just lied (not accusing just a probability). Like once my uncle also left his job for another but another company faced a difficult time after my uncle joined it and he became jobless. I also make the same mistake often like should i invest my money in BTC now or I should wait more, same goes for holding. I absolutely agree with what you said. In addition to that, the more you have  realistic vision and the ability to control yourself , the more effective in making financial decisions. And without taking risks, you could not get any high rewards but they must be planned ones. Plus, opportunities only come to you. However, over-excitement , greediness and rashness may lead to terrible consequences. Decisions based on facts are very absolute and very good and everyone usually always makes decisions based on what they have seen and also based on what they have experienced in the past. So decisions based on facts are things that cannot be tolerated anymore because making decisions based on assumptions from other people is clearly very wrong because everyone will not be able to predict the future through every assumption.

Promises and assumption has caused alot of people there job, imagine leaving your recent job because a friend promise to get you a better job. This may even cause someone his/her life if one base most of his/her lifestyle on promises and assumption.

Relying on someone is similar to having an illness that you don't know how to treat or cure; instead, you rely on God. Depending on God, the ailment may go away or continue to exist. When someone promises to give me money, I can't wait, and when someone promises to offer me a job, I can't wait because I don't even know if it will be possible or not because a promise is just a decision and someone can change their mind at any time.

I could remember when one of my friend put himself into serious debt believing he has already won a huge money from gambling. This was some year ago, match between Besiktas and Benfica. It was the last game of my friend's ticket. After 3 goal ahead by Benfica in the first half, he believed the game was over and Befica has won. He called us to celebrate. We started drinking and eating at a bar to celebrate this. After the end of the game, we were shocked as the game ended up in draw with 3- 3. This landed my friend into serious debt that took him some weeks to pay.

Yes, It is not easy to Live life based on assumptions and promises is a risky and unreliable way to make financial decisions because Promises may not always be fulfilled, and assumptions may not always prove true regardless of closeness factors such as friends, relatives or family and Relying on yourself doing this without considering the risks involved can lead to disastrous consequences, as the example you presented shows.

Make your business decisions simple, why? that because To avoid this risk, yes. it is important to plan and make decisions based on what is currently available, rather than relying on promises and assumptions. Gambling and salary dont really go hand in hand. Gamblers end up spending their salary on games and land up broke.

I would say that going for risky investments at the minimum would cause less problems that arise out of the same. But then we are humans after all.

It has happened to me years back when i was still in high college, one of my maternal uncle promised me that the moment i finish my school that he will help me get a job in his company where he worked as HR, I was happy that i will have a good pay job after my school. After my school, i called him to let him know am done with school and he said i should give him little time that i shouldn't worry that he will definately give me the job. I kept waiting till after one year, he then told me that ok he will give me some money to start up a business first while waiting for the job and i said ok. Another year passed by, to cut the story short, both the job and the money non of his promises came to pass. Since then i gave up on promises.
I have have a friend who placed a bet of over 3milliom. It was a foot ball bet, it was remaining just one game to play and he will be smiling, he assumed that it will enter, he called friends and started partying, at the end, the last game cut his ticket. It was a very terrible day for him because he has incured lots of debt.

There is this old saying that says, "Do not count your chickens, before they have hatched" and this is specifically suitable to you, because you are in the agricultural field, so you should be familiar with that concept. 

You cannot rely on people's promises.... they are very unpredictable, so to start something ..without having the actual money in hand... would be very reckless. I hope you learnt a very good lesson from this, but I still hope your financing come through for your project.

My wife always reminded me of this saying because I advance count the money that I never received yet lol. I think this isn't wrong on some cases but it can make someone motivated to work hard, knowing that there is something good that coming later on. What is only wrong is to hope for something that is not guarantee like the one that you used in your example. Not all eggs that we can see are good eggs that will hatch into a healthy chicken.

Another example is to count the profit in crypto investments because cryptos are unpredictable. If someone promises us, we better tell them that there will be consequences if they can't make their promise happen. That should make them more serious.

That is just one of the reasons why I don't trust promises. Ever since I was a kid, I've been said with many promises but not all of them came into as promised. Although some did but I remember most that didn't.

And there's this saying that came from a person that I know personally that have been convicted and been in jail, when someone tells a promise to the other inmates and then it didn't came into reality. What do they want? They've been given a promise already and they want it to be fulfilled. It sounds confusing but that's actually what was said.

Presently, I don't rely mostly to these promises even from the closest people that I know of. I expect mostly nothing from them when a promise was said especially in financial matters.

You don't count on their word unless you have something legal that keeps their word in line with your agreement. For profit through gambling, I mention it as unexpected income because that kind of thing cannot be obtained all the time by the same person so I don't think it's worth mentioning it as income because passive income every month will always be better even though it's not like that many of the profits through any gambling
