Spot trading and gambling are without a doubt different, while in both of those activities you are putting your money at risk, you do not get to decide anything in gambling except the size of your bet and what game you want to play, however when you trade you can pick the risk you want to take, how much money you are willing to win or to lose and the best moment to enter the market to reduce said risk, this is a tremendous difference and if used well you can even become profitable given enough time.
