[March 2026 Update] Indian Board activity on Bitcointalk

Don't know what to make of the activity here on the Indian board or any local board in general.

Noticed the tag on Pakhi's account and read the whole thread on the reputation board. Surprised and disappointed with the recent developments, surprised because I'd had few interactions with elevates and Bureau in the cricketing threads and Pakhi was regular in those boards. To me, they all looked like genuine cricket fans and I am a test cricket fanatic so I like everyone who is into the game.   

At the same time disappointed because s/he was contributing here and the activity will take a lot of hit.

Don't know what to make of the activity here on the Indian board or any local board in general.

Local boards in general is important for the people to make the concept of bitcoin to understand in better way even though they might understand English a bit. But Indian board is kind of peculiar when it comes to that point we just use English here too since we don't have any particular language to unite everyone from India (basically the south) where Hindi is hardly understood by anyone (including me). So we are here to discuss only things that happen related to crypto in India.

To me, they all looked like genuine cricket fans and I am a test cricket fanatic so I like everyone who is into the game.   

Yeah, it's a long drama, I thought he had some kind of defense on his side after his replies in the thread but never showed up with anything. Even me also accused of being one in that ring.

Myself a test cricket fanatic but the dimensions of test cricket changed a lot since the domination of 20-20 format not just in India but all over the leagues popped, we hardly ever see test matches are getting into last day's play and players are trying to draw the matches.

Speaking on language fiasco, I believe once North collectively (especially the Bimaru States) manages to surpass (tough cookie) or even equal the South in terms of prosperity, this language debate will settle for good (Saying it cause hindi belt is huge).

I have seen Tam Brahmin and Mullus being fluent in Haryanvi, Gujjar, Bhojpuri etc, because they were in the real estate and restaurant business in those parts of the world, so money is a good motivator and will soften up major Linguistic chauvinism in our country.

2. Active users (atleast 5 posts) : Increased from 7 to 8.

@Bitcoin Smith, it is indeed such a sad state of affairs for our local board. I sometimes wonder what is stopping Indian community to be more active here? I respect the efforts you are putting in to make our local section vibrant and active. Let me know if we can do something for increasing our community engagement better here, Like giveaways or India specific contests and games.

Oh well, it was expected after pakhi's ban. S/he was the big contributer.

But hey look at the bright side, at least merits are bit up in comparison to last update. Speaking of merit source, what happened to our previous merit sources? Guess at some point we had one.

In the meantime while admin decides on adding more merit sources or not, we should try to keep the section active and distribute merits to posts that seem worthy of it. I am personally running empty right now, but I will continue being active.

Do not be disheartened by any member leaving, we have to look forward and welcome any new Indian members if they are coming to the forum.

Giveaways or anything didn't work because community members tried that already. And the actual problem is we lack active members, we need more of the users to start engaging in the discussions, I know there are a lot of our countrymen are active on bitcointalk but not interested in local board. What we can do is, just be active here and bring interesting topics to discuss that will drag the people here over the period of time.

Speaking of merit source, what happened to our previous merit sources? Guess at some point we had one.

Yes, we had one until he decided that he doesn't want to be anymore.

Heisenberg_Hunter, you should look into the distribution of source merit (if you are still a merit source) to revive our board before it becomes too late.

I'm not a merit source, but still I have quite a few smerits in my account which I will try to distribute when I have time

Almost every new topic here is created by me, I wish I have a some competition on that. And I know you can do better, let's make it like 10 per week.

I can understand because my name also dragged there by few but they don't have any valid proof of their claim. And they don't really know the real picture because more number of posts will likely to get the merits and that's how paki ended up meriting me more which created the suspicion.

I like your negotiation skills (no wonder this is an Indian thread ), more impressive as it is especially for the Indian community, not for your personal interest. Every other active community here has a strong 'we feeling' and they know that community development is the only sustainable way to develop individually.
I am not committing myself to 10 posts as in such, but I will try to be avtively particiapate in discussions here. If we can have at least 5 members who can make at least 5 posts per week here, I am sure good things will follow. I have no doubt about the potenial of Indian market for crypto projects, it just that we have to bear the responsibility to set some posting standards for the guidance as well.

This is bound to happen since the number of users active in this section is only a handful. However exchange of merits is not a clear evidence of accounts being connected. The money transfer evidence in that case was solid and it was the nail in the coffin.

Nobody will give you negative trust for having exchanged merits, so do so at your own will without any prejudice or restriction if you find a post worthy enough.

I don't think this has anything to do with the Indian board or even the activity but for some reason there hasn't been any new merit sources were added for the past 1 year even though some of the reputable members applied to become one.

If there's no merit source added for the last 1 year may be the reason is indeed a mystery.
