BEFORE YOU START READING, KEEP IN MIND THAT I DO NOT RECOMMEND NON-DRINKERS TO START DRINKING. BECAUSE DRINKING IS VERY HARMFUL TO YOUR HEALTH.

Alcohol consumption and addiction are not new in our social life today, but it is also appropriate to state that alcohol is both a tonic and a poison, with the difference being primarily in the dose.

Alcohol is employed in different kinds of festivals, social gatherings, and even for medicinal purposes.  This has raised many questions about the effects of alcohol on every organ in the body.

When alcohol enters the body, approximately 80% of it is absorbed in the small intestine and then released into the bloodstream. When alcohol enters the bloodstream, it is circulated throughout the body by the circulatory system, the heart.

The human liver is in charge of detoxifying methane (alcohol) and eliminating it from the bloodstream. However, the liver can only handle a tiny quantity of alcohol at a time, allowing remainder to circulate throughout the body.

The worst aspect is that it also gets into the central nervous system and brain.

Because of the addictive nature of alcohols, heavy drinking is largely almost irresistible by drinkers, resulting to a variety of diseases as a result of the causes I described above.

This fact has also make the health benefits of drinking at moderate level not well known. However, moderate drinking can be advantageous to human health, as I will demonstrate below:

* Beers can lower the risk of of kidney stones: Beer was found to reduce the risk of kidney stones by 41%.

* Beers strengthen your bones: Beer's high source of silicon content is what's responsible for an increase in bone density.

* Alcohol can protect you from heart attacks.

* Red wines can help fight colds: 8 -14 glasses of wine per week, one could see a 60% reduction in the risk developing a cold.

* Red wines can boost your memory: A compound found in the skin of red grapes can improve memory and cognitive function.
* Beers have vitamins.
* Whisky can cure sore throats.
* Drinking moderately can improve sexual function in men.
* Drinking can also help in Reducing blood clotting.
* Beer can help stop cataracts.

Addiction in the use of alcohol is a topic that we cannot run away from, I suggest we open discussion about this topic for the purpose of educating each other.

I agree with you that anything like alcohol which can cause addiction can be a very bad thing for our health. The ones who are addicted to alcohol are often found to be less conscious when they are drunk, and I believe that anything that can cause consciousness issue in humans isn't a good thing to consume. Although, we can't ignore that alcohol can have some good pros as well, but its cons are way higher than its pros and that's why someone with proper understanding about health & nutrition would avoid substance like alcohol at any cost.

The long term consumption of alcohol is know to cause many types of cancers and other health issues and anyone who is addicted to drinking can have such kind of diseases in future. The wrong research about some topics has often caused more problems for us humans and because of such wrong information we can lose our health and many other precious things in our lives.

Most of our health problems comes from abuse of various substances throughout our lives. Most things considered bad for you can be good and cure many health conditions if used in moderation.
Some examples? Common salt. You need to consume a bit of sodium to stay healthy, otherwise you can even go into a coma. Eat too much salt and you'll have heart problems, high blood pressure, finally, just like with too little sodium, you can fall into a coma.

Pure alcohol is bad for us in general, but it can help endure pain, disinfect wounds, and allow us survive longer in extreme conditions, especially in a situation where you're wounded and need to walk somewhere to get help. The only benefit is to your mental health, not your physical health. Alcohol can lift depression temporarily and lighten the mood of a room, and good for social gathering. Alcohol should be consumed in moderate amount because it can be hazardous to health and damaging to the kidney. Red wines out of the whole category of alcohol is the best choice if you must consume alcohol, but still it still does not have to be abused as some people do very frequently and call it enjoyment. Drink and gamble responsibly.

I have read before that Red wine has many health benefits of taken in a reasonable quantity and a reasonable frequency.  I recall a documentary film about a person who lived a realively long life because alledgely drank a cup of red wine once a day since was 20 years old.

While it cannot be affordable for all of us, (including me), I still like to drink in special occasions.

I personally like beer and wine, both classic red or sparkling ones.

By the way, I am aware that here in the forum we have many Muslim fellows, who are not allowed to consume alcohol, for obvious reasons. I don't have anything against them. To each their own.  Wink

I am not a lover of alcohol because of hangovers. I have observed that even if I take little, the effect is not always pleasing. But I will not mind taking a few glasses of wine if the benefits you outlined and discussed are true. I am supposed to do a further study to ascertain if these benefits are true or false but adding the source of research that validates these claims would have been perfect. I hope this information is not based on hearsay and customs but on testable scientific research.

I know kidney stones can be controlled by taking plenty of water and I also know that excessive use of alcohol increases the risk of suffering from the illness because of the high rate of purines in beer and grain alcohol. I think it will be better for kidney stone patients to drink just water and avoid alcohol. I have also heard some of my friends claim that drinking beer, especially stouts improved their sexual performance. But I have not experimented with that claim. Nevertheless, I think we should verify this information before using alcohol.

You can't tell an alcoholic lover to stop drinking alcohol because it causes damages in his system, to be honest the reply you'd get would even get you tired of advising them to stop. Too much of alcohol causes a lot of damages in the system, if not that it can make you start doing things out of other, you can be saying things that doesn't make sense abusing people around you. After some time if they tell you all you did, I believe you won't even agree. So is just not healthy to me.

There isn't even a small level of alcohol that's safe: https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(18)31310-2

And so even if a moderate level of alcohol might have therapeutic effects, any such effects would be completely negated by other damage caused to your organs. And with how common substance abuse is, the category of "moderate drinkers" probably hardly exists. You either consume little to nothing, or well past any therapeutic dose.

Alcohol causes hypertension, so what good could it really do to prevent heart disease?

You will need to explain this more because I have not heard it that taking alcohol can help a man sexual performance. Rather what I have heard is that alcohol is likely not to help a man in sexual performance. I believe that we should do things in moderation because whatever we do excessively is an abuse and likely to demage our system. Those who are addicted to alcohol have not confirmed that help sexual performance rather I think what affects sexual performance is mostly age. You don't expect an older person man or woman to as active as a younger person.

Excessive intake of alcohol can make one misbehave and look irresponsible. That is why in whatever we are taking into our body should be taken moderately because if it isn't take with caution, there must be a side effect for it.

Alcohol is good for the tommy to help in stomach bite and it also enable one to overcome bad mood within a short period of time. I don't like taking much of alcohol as I do take it occasionally. Alcohol,sex,gamble and drug abuse has a negative impact on the addicted person's  life.

You can't tell an alcoholic lover to stop drinking alcohol because it causes damages in his system, to be honest the reply you'd get would even get you tired of advising them to stop. Too much of alcohol causes a lot of damages in the system, if not that it can make you start doing things out of other, you can be saying things that doesn't make sense abusing people around you. After some time if they tell you all you did, I believe you won't even agree. So is just not healthy to me.
I think the OP made it clear that he is not telling people to stop taking alcohol but at least we should try and reduce the rate at which we take it not to stop taking it completely because of the outlined benefit of taking alcohol the OP has outlined.

They're banned as they can make people to misbehave and cause destruction of properties. The health benefits of alcohol can be gotten from other beverages, fruits and food that isn't harmful to the body therefore we can stay without alcohol.

Alcohol is mainly consumed as a means of having fun, getting drunk or feeling spirited and not because of all the health benefits that you have mentioned. Alcohol has a more negative impact on the society than a positive impact because of it's toxicity nature.

We shouldn't be promoting the drinking of alcohol instead we should be discouraging people from drinking it. Drinking more of water should be promoted as the health benefits of water is more than any other beverages.

The only benefit is to your mental health, not your physical health. Alcohol can lift depression temporarily and lighten the mood of a room, and good for social gathering. Alcohol should be consumed in moderate amount because it can be hazardous to health and damaging to the kidney. Red wines out of the whole category of alcohol is the best choice if you must consume alcohol, but still it still does not have to be abused as some people do very frequently and call it enjoyment. Drink and gamble responsibly.
I agree with the benefits of alcohol you just mentioned,  but the problem people do have with alcohol is that they abused it by taking more alcohol which can be a serious problem to the human organs that can later lead to death. Alcohol is not bad but very dangerous to the health, their should be limit to the intake of alcohol which can help the body to be in a better condition.  The kidney is one of the most important organ in the body and can be easily destroy by alcohol.

In the end, alcohol is toxic and, as you say, not healthy at all. At least if people want to drink alcohol they should be aware of it, and not be sold a lie. Even knowing that it is a toxic substance, alcohol consumption is already high enough in itself.

You will need to explain this more because I have not heard it that taking alcohol can help a man sexual performance. Rather what I have heard is that alcohol is likely not to help a man in sexual performance. I believe that we should do things in moderation because whatever we do excessively is an abuse and likely to demage our system. Those who are addicted to alcohol have not confirmed that help sexual performance rather I think what affects sexual performance is mostly age. You don't expect an older person man or woman to as active as a younger person.

I think the awareness is now on the increase regards to excessive intake of alcohol and the some of the negative effect it has to the body on greater consumption. Most people are beginning to caution themselves on their alcoholic behavior as it effect is tied to some illness that people of this time suffer. Yes bro,  it has to do with just Madam for those of us who don't play away matches,  madam is the only one in the other room,  and if alcohol intake enhances that it means a lot for some weak players in that wing.

I will sure make further research about the ability of alchohol to enhance sexual performance,  in both males and females and if I find any scientifically supported proof,  that will support these popular claims.

Alcohol is just bad to the body and especially to the Kidney. The kidney finds it difficult for metabolism to take place on alcohol there by causing problems to the kidney. The best way to see or know the efficacy of alcohol is to add it to a burning flame..  Just avoid it totally and stay safe.

When it comes to alcohol and drinking in general, moderation is the watch word. The abuse of alcohol is what has made a lot of people to label alcohol as been bad whereas that's not entirely correct.
If you can overcome the temptation of not getting drunk when you drink alcohol, especially when it is free drink, then you are good to go.

Recently, when I researched the benefits of taking alcohol I discovered that it is quite good for the body, but then one has to be careful not to abuse it, that's exactly where the dangers lie.

Alcohol consumption and addiction are not new in our social life today, but it is also appropriate to state that alcohol is both a tonic and a poison, with the difference being primarily in the dose.


Too much of everything is bad and harmful to one’s health

Drinking socially is okay as long as you know your limits and you know that you can control yourself but some people lose control and they end up becoming alcoholics which is an addiction that  is not easy to treat because your body would have already adapted to the amount of alcohol you have been consuming

There are a lot of benefits but i think the risk of becoming an alcoholic is heavier and more harmful

It's said that to much of everything is bad, so it's not only alcohol that can be abused, even the food and none alcoholic beverages that we consume, if not taken in moderation will also be abuse and unhealthy. I believe that alcohol is good, it helps the drinker to be in a relaxed mood, and ofcourse all the health benefits mentioned by the OP are advantages that we can get from alcohol consumption. But the question is at what quantity should we stop in order not to abuse it? The answer for me is that our bodies have different capacities withstand quantities of alcohol, so each individual must know the limit that their body can withstand, so they won't exceed their limit. So my conclusion is drink responsible, meaning that if your body can only take the capacity of one bottle of beer, then be disciplined and don't go beyond the limit.

Excessive intake of alcohol can make one misbehave and look irresponsible. That is why in whatever we are taking into our body should be taken moderately because if it isn't take with caution, there must be a side effect for it.

Alcohol is good for the tommy to help in stomach bite and it also enable one to overcome bad mood within a short period of time. I don't like taking much of alcohol as I do take it occasionally. Alcohol,sex,gamble and drug abuse has a negative impact on the addicted person's  life.

I will never recommend beer as a means of reducing the chances of having kidney stones because excessive alcohol is bad for the kidney. The best liquid to prevent kidney stones is water and it is highly recommended that even people that has kidney stones can be cured with water.

I don't have much knowledge about these other points the OP mentioned but if they are true drinking responsibly once in a while is not a bad idea. But the problem with alcohol is that you will always want to get high on this substance. It would have been better to drink a few glasses but each time, you are tempted to drink one or two bottles. In some cases you see people drinking heavily regularly which could destroy thier financial, family and health.

benefits, how do we know the safe tolerances of alcohol from person to person?

Ok, let's agree that these benefits which mentioned in OP isn't excuse or reason to drink. You easy can find many foods and drinks which is more beneficial for your health.
But on the other hand, I hate when abstinent people are looking into these who drink glass of wine or bottle of beer like into worst kind of alcochol addicts. Like there is just white and black and nothing in between. In some countries alcochol is part of culture. In Italy or Spain it's normal to have glass of wine together with lunch, but somehow these countries don't have problems with alcochol addiction.

Don't agree with you. Everything depends on personality, not everyone want to get high on this substance. If you want to get high, then it's already first sign of addiction. Personally, I drink beer not because I want to get drunk. I like taste of it, I eat some snacks or chips with it, trying different beers from all over the world. To get drunk like a skunk I would have to drink huge number of bottles at once.
Though, I must admit that I had some problems with strong drinks like whiskey or vodka. I just didn't felt when it's time to stop. And when next day I hhad terrible hangover and thoughts "never again". And that "never again" lasted only few weeks or months until next time. Fortunately, it's already in past.

your body can only process one pint (~half litre) of fluid every few hours at best. usually every 3+ hours
if you usually urinate a pint per 3 hours dont put excess fluids above that into your system
its the excess fluids that can cause things like hypertension.. pushing too much fluid is literally the definition of high blood pressure

dont drink alcohol or any fluid excessively. one cup an hour is max. one cup per 3 hours is normal
if you think drinking 2 large glasses in a evening social event that lasts only 1-3hours is moderate. then you already failed

I usually have stocks of beer, whisky, and red wine at home. They can be beneficial especially red wine. I read somewhere that a lot of Japanese people drink red wine before going to bed. So there are days when I am also doing it.

The general rule is that everything becomes bad when taken excessively.

Those  health advise comes from whom ? those doctors that has been paid by alcohol companies or doctors that is a drinker themselves ?
because if not then they will not comment such things , alcohol is good for the body? some says just don't abused but how can they stop?
because alcohol is addicted and there is no one bottle but 1-100 lols.

I use to drink a lot mate but good that my Wife thought me to less and now stopped .

it is not easy to leave alcohol , but with perseverance and help of our loveone then we can  be living longer than those alcoholic .

Taking alcohol is good but on a moderate level and should be done occasionally not as a habit and the quantity being consumed shouldn't be that much as it also threatens some health problems like high BP,  the immune system becoming too weak as a result of constant consumption, causes cardiovascular diseases and can also affect ones vision so if it most be consumed it should be in lower quantity

Honestly i don't drink alcohol, beers or such kind of things. Although many friends of mine have already experience. Yeah i heard about alcohol benefits where it reduces cander, blood pressure in some cases, kindey stones and many more what you have already mentioned.
