I read a tweet from the Eric guy covering spot Bitcoin ETF for Bloomberg, he wrote:

"My mom was over tonight and asked about the bitcoin ETFs we covering on ETF IQ lately. She’s like “What’s dif bt crypto and bitcoin? I think of it all as funny money in space. Is there some kind of mine? They need a show that explains it to me and my friends like we in 2nd grade”

So can you explain Bitcoin in a way a second grader would understand it? If you can, do in in four sentences let's see. Do it as good as Sunny Lu did for blockchain.

Why stress kids by bugging them with Crypto?
Sometimes we tend to be too hard on kids that we stress them out by bugging them with complex stuff like crypto like come on let them enjoy their childhood. Lol
Anyways I came across this interesting cartoon that explains the whole economy and Bitcoin concept sometime ago. I even enjoyed watching it with some of my kid relatives and they loved it too.

I only see you can teach Bitcoin to children like it is a digital money that can be used through Internet, phones, tablets. That's all simple thing I can teach children about it as at their ages, they even don't need to use money or have very vague thinking and experience with money.

Lets just face the fact here, even op himself or herself can't explain bitcoin to the perfect understanding of a second grader in just four sentences, and besides, like Mia said, I also see no reason why I should bug my mind trying to explain bitcoin in a way a second grader would understand.

And to sum it up, an adult is not a second grader, and when an adult tells you to explain bitcoin to him or her in a way you would explain it to a second grader, that adult is just being idiomatic, the adult simple meant that bitcoin be explained to him or her in a simple way that would be easy to understand.

I don’t think OP was talking about teaching bitcoin to kids. There was no mention of children in the OP, I think OP is asking for a simple way one can explain bitcoin to a beginner in layman’s terms.  The terms decentralized, non-custodial may be too technical for some people to understand.

Honestly everything is wrong in that explanation but let us give benefits of doubt to thecodebear. Perhaps, he's referring to the quantity of Bitcoin you have when he says it increases in value instead of decreasing. The explanation is somehow misleading and when you explain something like this to Nigerian kids you'll realize the damage you have caused. I think digital money through the use of peer to peer will be fine.

There was no direct mention of children but we all know the age range we refer to as second grade and there is no perfect way to start teaching anything other than explaining. Moreover, is there any simple and easier way to describe bitcoin better these two in your comment? Unless the person has problem with English and comprehension because I see nothing too technical in decentralization or non custodian.

Bitcoin is a new and unique form of money that has no physical form (is only digital) and has a cap. You have full control of your funds and nobody can put their hands in your pocket (bitcoin wallet) taking your money (like banks and governments do with fiat currencies).

I think that's as short as it gets while telling an end user all they need to know for their "introduction" to Bitcoin.

Good Question. I actually don't know any good way to explain bitcoin to a Second grader, because I never had to. now I am thinking about that, I realized that it is something can be very necessary sometime. I think it would be nice if we have good bitcoin related books for children like all other subject.

How does teaching Kids Bitcoin is stressing them? second graders kids already learning complex subjects like Maths and Other scientific subject, then why can't we teach them about Bitcoin too? teaching them in good way according to their brain set would not stress them. that's why I think there need to be Children Books about Bitcoin.

What does a 2nd grader have to do with investments and this blockchain in the first place? Let the child enjoy things on his own and wait for his/her to develop their interest with their own curiosity and interest. Forcing things through will just be a waste of time and will not be something they will enjoy. Let us ask ourselves first, did we have such interest before? Or if you are a 2nd grader at this point with toys and play time on your mind, how will you react then? We do get the point which is to teach them about how investment works however there are better ways to do so such as associating his toys and things he's busy with, little by little. It takes time for our interests to things in parrticular to grow and that won't happen in a single night or two. It won't happen also just because someone told you to do so. Everything requires initiative and will. No number of sentences will be enough to push a CHILD to something they know nothing about and something that is not even applicable on their age. If we ourselves as adults are having a hard time then what more on their case?

Bitcoin is another money that can be spent without any borders, as long as there are people willing to accept it as money then that's an alternative money for most. And it's not just your different kind of money through the internet but it's also an asset, a store of value that money does. So basically, there are ways to obtain or accumulate Bitcoin. First through mining, this is like the conventional way of it but it will cost you lots of money for the equipment for you to start mining. The easier way is to simply buy it through exchanges using your local money and convert it to Bitcoin and, the other way is through getting paid with it like a typical worker.

You may not be able to get that accurately within just four sentences for a novice, but if you already have an idea then you may have more insight on what bitcoin actually is.

You don't understand OP. He or she wants to explain it to the mother the way a child would understand. It's not about getting kids into crypto but people that aren't tech savvy.  

So, to answer the topic, She wants to know what the difference between bitcoin and crypto is and what mining is. In short, you can tell her that bitcoin is a type of crypto, but there are other types, the way Fords were the first popular cars, but now we a hundred brands. Bitcoin is the first ever digital currency working on its own, without an issuer, contrary to national fiat currencies like the dollar, which has an issuer (US Gov.) and can be digitalized (not to confuse with digitized) Bitcoin was made digital from the start.

Miners are the ones who process transactions because someone has to make the calculations necessary to encrypt and decrypt transactions. Without them anybody would be able to hijack your money, so they provide security and stability that allows the network to function. It's really easy if you don't overcomplicate it.

Most of us reading this are getting it all wrong, The topic doesn’t actually reflect the message his trying to pass I believe what his searching for is the easiest and shortest way to explain Bitcoin in layman’s terms so even a 2nd grader may understand not exactly looking at the 2nd grader as the audience but mostly for elderly and uneducated people.

Remember he used his mum and her friends as an example one thing we must have in mind is that from life experiences we know that as we grow older our minds begin to turn to that of little kids if you’ve lived with your grandparents you’d understand what I mean.

I’d like to explain Bitcoin simply as a digital version of money which works like our regular money but online meaning you can’t touch it though you can see and use it through the use of digital devices like your mobile phones, computers and other devices.

It's hard to explain Bitcoin to second graders, because their experience with money is that it's just a thing for exchanging for other things. They don't understand how banks and payment systems work, they have no experience of using them so they won't understand the difference between them and Bitcoin. And even adults don't think much about banks, even if they use them on a daily basis. Tell people that it's money without intermediaries and that their funds can't be frozen and they will scratch their heads, because they never had their funds frozen.

Bitcoin can be used as an investment or as payment.
It is also the pioneer in the crypto industry.

I know that kids might listen to us but expect that they don't take it so seriously because this could mean too much or technical for them.

It also serves as assets for income. Although this Bitcoin industry has the potentiality nature of volatilities as inflations and deinflations.

This Bitcoin is traded in a Person to Person (P2P) without a third party demanded during transactions and on the quest of its marketing, it is a decentralized non-custodial currency with a high centralized networking.
