If person compose something interesting come post am for their Facebook page and later the person come feel like that topic makes sense to post for this forum as well. Can the person post such and will it be tagged plagiarism?

No be plagiarism be that based on some conditions, because plagiarism na wattin another person write wey u go copy without adding reference of the original. But for your case if the name wey u use for this forum dey different from ur Facebook account username, we wey nor no go consider am plagiarism, so if u fall for this category just add reference to dey on the safer side. Because the post don enter public internet except you go first delete the post for ur FB den u nor need reference again.

It will be safer if the Facebook page bear the same name as the forum username. In that case, people will know it is from the same person.

The safe thing to do is to add the statement, " as I have posted in my Facebook page before" then add the link if possible. I am saying this from experience in the academic world... the issue of plagiarism is a serious one and it is not taken likely anywhere. Since the consequences here is immediate, it is good to exercise caution so you don't get your account messed up.

I for like make you move this thread to the beginners and help board so that you go get more answers from there, although there self most people way go give you good answers na even Nigerians, but that nah the best place to ask these kind of questions.

For me, whather nah you be the original poster of that thing way you post for your social media accounts or not but as long as say no be this forum (bitcointalk.org) be the first place way you post am, nah plagiarism be that. We Nigerians we fit understand say nah you be the right owner of the social media accounts way get the same contents way you go post for here but these our abinos way they this forum no go understand like that.
So my convulsions be say make you the always put reference link so that you no go get another nut tag.

Advice: Always include the link.

If you are the original author and it is known to the public, or there is evidence that you are the owner of both the Facebook account and the account on this forum that you used to post it, it will not be considered as plagiarism. But the best way you can go about it is to include the Facebook link or where you copied it from.

You can see people on this forum that they will quote themselves and still include the link in the quote, I use to do it and it makes me feel that it is better that way than not to include the link. Adding link will not affect your posting quality but makes your post more authentic and it gives you high chance of not getting banned.

OP, you know say for here, privacy na big matter wey we carry for head. What I want to say is that the link is always the best way to use as a reference, even though na you post am. The reason why I talk so be say most times, we dey change our Facebook username, so to avoid any gbege, just post the link and if na the same name, make the link still dey to show people say na still you do the write up. It is plagiarism Sir, please don't mislead the OP, as Charles-Tim has said, the person must include the link of the information for users to verify it. Because not everyone in the forum knows that you are the one who posted it in the facebook or the on the social Media. And if you didn't put the link and brought the article to the forum then it becomes self plagiarism and you must be ban. therefore, whenever you brought something from places be a self written material or from another person.

OP,  in my own opinion since you are the one that constructed the post by yourself and posted on Facebook which you later realized the need to post the information here due to how informative the post is, but try and be sure if such information has not been posted here but if after checking the local board you realize there is no similar post here then you should be able post it provided that you reference it by providing the source link, the reason for the source link is to provide evidence of were you got the information from because it could be that someone saw your post on Facebook and decided to replicate it in better manner and post it online so even if you were the original writing, posting it here without a source may not be wise.

My own be say, I for say make the person no post am for forum again oh, even if you the be original poster, I feel say you for still give reference to that facebook post because, in a long run, one forum member fit see that your post for FB, then come for forum come talk say, you plagiarize am from FB not knowing say na you be the FB account owner or the original poster of that topic, then that time now you go begin speak all the grammar way u Sabi just to prove say true true, na you be original poster.
So to just be, on a safe side, I for like make you either leave the post or make reference by sharing the link oh.

How e go be plagiarism when you read where op say na him get the write up originally. If op dey sure say every word or phrase na from him then no cause for alarm but if not yours or you get some quotes from people wey you no acknowledge abeg add link to avoid stories. You fit still add your Facebook profile link where you write the thing.

Plagiarism na when you lift someone else work without their permission or acknowledgement or you no reference them as the original owners of the story or your thought line. Even copy right, patent right too fall under those.

The reason wey make the forum dey against plagiarism na so that the forum go dey genuine and to avoid people work being used as if na you get am. So, in order words if person dey bring something from another forum, social media and handles to this forum, you need to be careful to be sure you are the owner or if you are not then acknowledge it by referencing it. E go better make you even lift from here go another Facebook than make you carry come here without reference.

Thank you all for the responses. I don learn many things from the comments. I will certainly apply them when needed. One thing I will never do is plagiarism. Thank you
