Switching to Presearch search engine for bitcointalk?

That is a whole different crypto ecosystem which is built on the electrum blockchain and not a regular search engine, making it more complicated.

I can not see bitcointalk switching to an altcoin project as its main search engine while the forum has a native and functional search engine. This will be seen as an obvious marketing and endorsement of the project by the admin here, which they will not do without a proper motive and after doing their research.The current system is not terrible, just needs a few fixes.

I don't know how forum search engines work in deep technicality, but I don't think you can just simply import a search engine to the forum.

If you're going to use a search engine anyway, why not use the best ones? Why use something that virtually no one uses? Chances are, results aren't good. Not to mention that it seems like this platform is just another attempt of unnecessarily trying to use blockchain for everything. Or maybe try to convince us why you think this is a decent platform?

I've just been using ninjastic.space for forum searches. It does a better job than the forum search or even Google. Everything ever written in the forum is added to the database, and it works quite quickly. Being able to see the search term count for each user is great as well.

Hey, thanks for that. I had used ninjastic.space but it hadn't occurred to me that it was a very good global post finder for the forum,  I have been using google to search instead. So I will use ninjastic.space from now on.

Anyway, what the OP was proposing didn't make much sense in itself, and with this option, even less so.

Why Presearch when there is an existing one that is dedicated to Bitcointalk which is https://ninjastic.space/search, how reliable is Presearch compared to other search engines, people who installed it just use it to accumulate Pre which is a native token of Presearch but when it comes to reliability on every online term or Keywords it's still Google, and https://ninjastic.space/search for everything related to Bitcointalk

Bitcointalk has its own search engine and it has google search engine. What makes you think that presearch.io is better? I have used the forum search engine before and it is good for me. If a topic has been created for like more than a day, google search engine is good for searching that if the topic title is not edited and changed by the OP.

Just like Nutildah and robelneo mentioned, i doesn't remembered that i have used any thirds party search engine for Bitcointalk. initially I relied on Bitcointalk own search engine. however once I discovered  Ninjastic then I didn't use any other for single time. Ninjastic is advance search engine, equipped with many filter and features which are unavailable in other search engines. For example its allow to  check words in particular thread/board ,address check/how many times used and how many accounts used it, check for deleted or edit message.
so I don't think there any possibility of preseach  replacing with Google search engine.

Using loyce.club^[1] & ninjastic.space^[2] will give better results than Google or even a third-party search, as they provide archival copies of all posts in the forum, and thus it is easy to find the post according to the user name or keywords.
Search engines may be better at predicting what you want to search for, but the sites below are good if you remember a word or several words in the topic you are searching for.

I know it's not worth it. There's absolutely no reason to add a blockchain to a search engine, and adding "tokens" trying to monetize is something I've seen thousands of times.

Not that I’m going to make it my search engine but I did give it a try and searched “who is satoshi? Site:Bitcointalk.org” and when I compared the result I got from this one to that of google I think google’s results were better.

In terms of using search function here in the forum, as already mentioned by other users “ninjastic.space” and “loyce.club” rocks but if we’re to search outside the forum or search for anything that’s not related to Bitcointalk then I’d still choose google over presearch.io because of the results I got.

This forum needs to be somewhat optimized for major search engines to get new people in here and maybe ninjastic.space needs to be better linked/advertised to the existing users can use a proper search. That's all we need. The tool you try to promote doesn't seem to bring anything really new or useful into the equation.

I don't really like such search engines and even they do the job in the best way still they are not worth it. The members of the forum have already made their search engines which work best for the forum but to be honest I really don't use any of those myself. I basically use Google search engine to find the threads that I can't find with the native search engine of the forum.

But, I can someone like PowerGlove can do something great to improve the search engine of the forum. In fact I believe that he can do a really great job to fix the internal search engine of the forum. The guy has contributed some amazing patches for the forum and if he finds this posts then I'm quite sure he'll make up a patch that may make the internal search function of the forum useful for the members.

The forum is very less actively updated because of human resource limitation and worry about potential security issues.

I don't need forum to have changes in its search engine because I can search with Google and two third party websites with data from scraping: Ninjastic.space and Loyce.club.

If a change can potentially make forum security has some weakness that can be exploited, I don't want to have it.

Many users don't care to read Forum guide: SMF User Help: Searching and they don't mind what search engine is used by the forum software.

I would certainly like to switch from google search to some good alternative but I wouldn't waste time with presearch.
Last year I heard many people complained about presearch because they never paid them tokens they earned, and they always made up new reasons.
We also don't know what information they collect, and I am sure they are collecting everything.

Other alternatives I would consider instead are brave search, start page, or even better SearX.

You are searching too quickly. Wait 90 seconds. (There is a Google-based search engine on the search page that does not have this limit.)

I think it's the loudest argument, with presearch (for example) there wouldn't be this slowing result...

Is it really that hard to understand I don't need to earn a fraction of a cent to search the internet? Someone else on the other hand would love to earn a fraction of a cent for each time millions of people search the internet.

I don't get this part of your statement. Someone else earning less than a cent per day doesn't bother me.

Why should we bother doing that when we usually only want fast and good search result? And if price of PRE coin going lower in future, we'll end with financial loss.
