Error loading blkindex.dat

I've been getting this error lately. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and still got the error. Anyone know what I need to do to resolve this problem?

Open the Bitcoin data dir:

Windows: %APPDATA%\Bitcoin
Linux: ~/.bitcoin
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Bitcoin/

MAKE A BACKUP of everything, then delete everything EXCEPT wallet.dat .  Fire up Bitcoin again and wait while it downloads a fresh copy of the blockchain.  It'll take a while.  Then it'll be cured.  Let us know if it's not.
