Like seriously, knowing about Bitcoin is a little bit hard to me. I don't know maybe this is because I'm yet to meet a guru that'll will put me through. The most confusing part of it to me is the percentage (positive and negative) which up to now I don't understand. As in, what I mean is this, you'll see positive sign for a moment and if it turns negative and later turn back to positive this time with higher percentage but with low price. What's the reason behind this? 🤔

When one hears about bitcoin you would think that bitcoin is just a decentralised currency and it ends there. But when going dipper trying to know more about bitcoin,  you would realise that bitcoin is too wide and the brain is just empty,  knows nothing about bitcoin. Bitcoin can complicated, most especially technical parts of bitcoin.
This is evidently true. People here about bitcoin, associates it with currency and that's where it ends for most. If you ask me, I don't blame them. After all, it was meant to be used for a currency and if it should act as such, what is there to be worried about? Like, most citizens of the world don't care about how there individual nations fiat currency is been printed and circulated. All they do is earn and use it and that's the same energy they direct towards bitcoin.

The issue with this is that, bitcoin is created to be a scares commodity with a definite number from which, after thee last is mined, what remains is its circulation. Now, its virtual and you can have a whole lot right where you walk and that comes with some risk. Worst of all, you can transfer just any amount and with devices susceptible to hacks, there are needs to learn other aspects to better guide yourself.
You can't know it all nor learn all in a go but, you could always push for more knowledge.
As far as bitcoin is concerned people major concern about it is to invest in it and be expect profit from it, and also to use it as means of exchange of buying and selling . This is the same way people see the traditional currency they use, they can't give good details about currency.  The profit of bitcoin are what people are interested of .

What you describe applies to any crypto really (and other assets), not just to bitcoin.

It will depend on where you are looking at the data/charts, what view they are displaying (i.e. price variation in the last hour, last day, last 24 hours, etc.).

Take for example CoiinGecko’s bitcoin data. I believe the price increase or decrease there is expressed in terms of the last 24 hours as a rolling window. That means that the current price at any given point in time is compared to the price exactly 24 hours ago (give or take a few minutes).

Now take a look at the price chart, and you’ll see that, if the above is the way the price increase is being reported on the screen, the starting point of the comparison (price 24 hours ago) will logically vary as time goes by, as does the current price. That is the rolling window.

For example, at 11:10 I was seeing on the chart:
Initial price 24 hours ago: 21.455,96 $
Current price (at 11:10): 21.104,28 $
Price variation: -1,67%

At 11:14, the readings were:
Initial price 24 hours ago: 21.462,39 $
Current price (at 11:10): 21.209,62 $
Price variation: -1,19%

The initial point in the rolling 24 windows changes every few minutes, therefore so does the comparison point for the current price, leading to apparent paradoxes as the one you described (not captured in my data above), especially if the initial point varies wildly as it will with yesterday’s drop between 15:30 and 16:25.

The key question is understanding how the data is being calculated, to understand exactly what we are seeing.

It was hard to know about Bitcoin in 2009 or a few years ago but today Bitcoin and crypto market, blockchain industry are something big enough that can help you to more easily be exposed with it.

The hardest part now belongs to you. Whether you believe in blockchain technology, cryptocurrency industry and Bitcoin, crypto market. If you have belief, you can walk along with it.

Quote
The most confusing part of it to me is the percentage (positive and negative) which up to now I don't understand.
After being exposed to Bitcoin from media, people will have two sides to choose: positive (believe in it) and negative (disbelieve in it). If you fall into positive side, you will search Bitcoin Whitepaper, courses, youtube, articles to learn more about it. When you are more knowledgeable about it, your belief will increase.

If you have negative feeling, you will find fud news to read. It is not good and you have to filter news you read to not believe in fud and fake news.

Well I know you feel ashamed based on your merited Rank, but there is no shame in seeking knowledge.

That is not the reason I feel ashamed. It is not about my merited rank. If we are talking about rank, am supposed to be a legendary rank from the activities I have acquired. Am concerned and worried because of the length of time I have known about bitcoin but yet am finding it hard to fully understand it. But now that I know am not the only old member who is still finding bitcoin difficult to understand I feel relieved that am not a dullard.

I think crypto currency is something you can just understand in a short time because the more you try to put effort in understanding it then the more it becomes more complex
This is a platform that is broad even when you are been educated on.it takes you to be more careful and attention most importantly is to concentrate on the activities
It has been a general problem because 90% find it more complicated to understand bitcoin

In first glance, the concept of the bitcoin or the cryptocurrency itself is quite hard to understand this is the reason why better to get an investment in knowledge too once you want to get to invest in crypto, lack of knowledge might give you a lot of trouble in the path you are taking with.

By getting in time of knowing more a lot with crypto you will slowly understand what are the works of its purpose, use and more that can be an advantage to others. Based on my experience it took me a year to learn and still continuously learn more.

Isn't this exactly the perplexity I was driven into when I got to realize that there was, and yet, enough for.me to learn for myself technically?? Lol..
Achow even made a statement of such - can't  make any reference to such now though -but, trust me, it was really surprising to hear that... So I was like - Achow's complaining about it, how much more a mere newbie like myself?? Lol
The Bitcoin white paper has every history; the HOWs, the WHYs and for WHAT reason crypto was made. I mean, you need to put yourself into the divere sub-sections -- yeah? Cus without 'em, you won't understand a damn thing!! Like when you stumble on a regular word like P2P, make a technical research on it alone so as to be able to get the meaning of the word in the context of whatever you read.
Follow it...,it's a process!

The technicalities of Bitcoin is difficult to understand. Bitcoin is not an easy thing to understand at a glance. Unless one just want to know about the basics of Bitcoin. May be how to send a transaction and receive a transaction and create a wallet. Anything more than that will need your time and proper attention to understand and this is one of the reason people did not want to enter into bitcoin because they have many things doing a life. Some people have real time job, they wouldn't have enough time to attend to their job and businesses and still have a lot of time to learn the technicalities of Bitcoin.
This could be one of the things hindering mass adoption of Bitcoin.

I do not know if this topic has been shared here before but it is something that has given me serious concern. Eventhough I have been registered here a long time ago, I still find it difficult learning and understanding bitcoin technical aspect, the blockchain and development. I know this is a shame to admit but that is what am faced with. I once tried to read the white paper but could not make much meaning out of it. Is this just only me as someone who has zero knowledge of science or there are also people who are in science but still find learning bitcoin confusing and challenging? Is there a way out of this? Please am not asking for books to read. I need real life experiences of those who passed through this and overcame it.

To be honest, we are in the same position. Though I can somehow grasp the whole idea of BTC and cryptocurrencies, I still find trouble understanding one of the focal points on this topic, which is something related with hardware, etc.

If you are still struggling to understand the basics of cryptocurrencies and the blockchain, I highly recommend watching this TED TALK VIDEO as it simplified the explanation of the latter topics. When I watched this video, it somehow gave me an understanding about the potential of cryptocurrencies and its integration to the finances potentially in the future.

I also struggle, even until now. I am also here for how many years and still cannot understand the technical side of Bitcoin. To be honest, I still haven't tried the 'node' thing. Moreover, if I try to read Bitcoin's whitepaper chances are I wouldn't be able to understand most of it because of its technecality.

You should read other articles related to the bitcoin whitepaper for a simpler explanation, because if you have no knowledge of blockchain or other things related to programming languages it will be difficult to understand the actual explanation, so keep exploring in the forums for the technical section of the board to get closer to technical discussion.

Same thing happened to me,I struggled so much to know more things about bitcoin, and I found out that bitcoin is so broad, you can't know everything about it.I struggled for some months before I was able to know more things about it because of it broad nature, but up till now, there are still so many areas about it that I don't still know, and I'm working on exploring some areas that I haven't been able to explore since I started Bitcoin.I know very well that in less than no time, maybe in few years time,I will get to know about somethings that I haven't known.I'm happy today because my knowledge about bitcoin has been of help to me,and I don't regret struggling to learn it the time I did,the only thing that I regret about,is not having a knowledge about bitcoin earlier.

Bro you are not the only person with such problem here. I guess we all beginner are facing the same issue. Especially I also experiencing the same issue. I also posted something like this and from those posts, I get one thing clear that there is no "aladdin's lantern" here that you can do everything in one day. You need to spend more time here read more and try harder.

You don't need to be embarrassed just because you don't really understand all the systems that exist in bitcoin, that's a natural thing, because not everything that is learned can be immediately absorbed into our brains. So deciding to ask in this forum is a very appropriate right, because reading articles is sometimes still confusing, but if explained from an experience point of view, it will usually be easier to understand.

I also don't fully understand the system that runs on bitcoin, but according to my measurements, that's enough for my trading needs.
And I will suggest it to you so that it is easier to understand, if you learn about bitcoin, crypto and blockchain. (essentially about all systems that run on crypto).
I suggest that you learn it while starting the practice, because if you go straight with the practice it will be more easily absorbed directly by our brains. Because until now I have proven it, I used to be very focused on learning about bitcoin/crypto and all its systems, I read on the internet every day, but I didn't practice it, and in the end, I got confused, because I kept reading, but the lessons I learned I have read before I forgot.
After that I took a short break, while I was looking for money, for my first capital in crypto, after I had the capital, I immediately started my investment, at that time I only studied occasionally, but while practicing, and oddly enough, even though I rarely studied specifically, but I understand and understand.

So the point is when learning, if you want to quickly absorb knowledge, it would be better if it was accompanied by practice.

Wow!!  This is really awesome. It takes courage to drop an article like this even with your position in this forum, you are really sincere to yourself and I think you really want to learn more. some people are pretending to know everything but trust me they are deceiving themselves,  the truth is one can't know everything most people are facing same challenge here but because of their position they are shy to ask questions. Well there's a saying that " person wey dey ask for direction no dey loss for road.
However, I wish you locate someone that will enlighten you more with this thread.

it's not strange if yo are finding it difficult to understand the technical part of bitcoin and the blockchain technology. It's even bold and good of you that despite your growth in the forum, you still see it necessary to face the reality that you need to be have to needed knowledge in the world of Bitcoin.
For me, I don't really have that ability to go into the technically that is involved in trading due to how demanding my current physical job can be and so I just focus on accumulating bitcon and participating in the forum discussion so as to keep myself up to spead with the latest happenings in the field. Depending on what you're doing and what you want to specialize in, you can choose to gradually make research on it and see yourself growing gradually in the process.
