Watch a short video about private data centers for mining in Russia. The quality of ASIC containers is described and shown in great detail.
The price is 5.4 Russian rubles or 0.061 dollars per kilowatt. This is an expensive price, but not in Siberia.

It is curious that in many countries where electricity is cheap, mining is "illegal", while in countries where this activity could be done without problems, it is precisely the energy prices that make it impossible. In Italy, for example, we have an average price of around $0.22 per kW

Each company has a contract for a certain power consumption and their data cents are well designed and protected. Although I heard that in Europe data centers are burning. The last major fire was in a large data center in Strasbourg in 2021.

If you read too much Russian propaganda you will hear that
- all datacenters in Europe are faulty
- after five minutes there is no power in all all datacenters in Europe
- after five minutes all datacenters in Europe have burned down
- after five more minutes there are no datacenters in Europe as we are too poor to host them
- and the end of the show there is no Europe as the Russian army has conquered Portugal last month

When it comes to reality:

https://bitnodes.io/nodes/all/asns/1d/

It's one thing to have cheap electricity in your garage it's a different thing when we talk datacenters.

Probably the fire of the mining equipment in the garage occurred due to an overload (this is mentioned in the article) in the electrical network. In general, this is not at all surprising, because garages are not designed for such power consumption (20-30 kW/hour). Cheap electricity will encourage the formation of such small mining farms in garages in the future, and this will lead to similar fires discussed in this topic. Greed and the desire to save on electricity led to the loss of 9 ASICs, which, by the way, costs not so little money. The conclusion is quite simple: it is necessary to prepare the appropriate technical base for mining (permissible load limit on electrical networks, fire protection and fire extinguishing system, etc.). Just curious, was the heat generated from 9 ASIC units enough to heat this garage? Smiley

In a garage in Russia, no one will be allowed to consume such a volume of electricity, so any garage mining will be subject to violations. Some miners manage to run a separate cable into their garage. The garage can be ventilated, so heat is not a problem, but noise is audible.
In such cases, all fire reports are the same. There will be no serious investigations unless people are harmed.

The Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia has calculated new electricity tariffs from July 24 = from 6.73 rubles to 7.33 rubles in Moscow. 1 dollar costs 91 rubles.
https://rg.ru/2023/11/21/svet-v-koridore.html
In Moscow, with such tariffs, it will soon be unprofitable to mine coins at home because tariffs for business are even cheaper due to the large volume of consumption. But in other regions of Russia, prices for individuals are several times cheaper.

Check out the video. Some miners still manage to bring 8 kilowatts of power to the balcony, but now they no longer use video cards, but ASICs.
A large box with a dragon, this is a noisebox for ASIC. The dimensions are huge, but it requires mining so that the ASIC does not overheat.

Deputy Energy Minister of the Russian Federation Evgeny Grabchak noted that in some regions a ban on such activities has been introduced
MOSCOW, May 8. /TASS/. Electricity consumption by mining farmers in Russia has reached 2-2.5 GW, while "white" mining accounts for no more than 40% of the total volume. This was stated by Deputy Energy Minister of the Russian Federation Evgeny Grabchak in Lyudmila Bogatyreva's podcast "What will happen to mining in Russia?".

"According to estimates (electricity consumption by miners - TASS note), this is from 2 GW to 2.5 GW, of which only about 800 MW is white mining, everything else is gray or black mining," Grabchak said.

This is how mining works in Russia Grin

Mining is quite popular in Russia. In fact, the second largest miners population is in Russia due to its cold climatic regions. Just like any other business, mining could be started from garage and places where electricity is cheap. A 100 sq feet garage mostly it comes in that size can accumulated 120 asic machines rig setup. VK.com Russia biggest social media site has all pictures of setups where people share their mining. While accidents are rare but cannot be rules out. Learning about coolants or chemical engineering for mining rig is important to keep the rig temperature neutral.

Immersion-cooled Bitcoin mining, or simply “immersion” is a method of submerging mining hardware into a pool of dielectric (nonconductive) fluid – typically with oils or synthetic liquids – to boost productivity, reduce noise, realize other benefits, and, most importantly, to dissipate the heat generated by the ASIC miners. This approach differs from the traditional air-cooled method, which uses fans to circulate the air around the miners in order to reduce their temperature.
To address overheating, miners utilize two primary cooling methods: air cooling and immersion cooling. For miners, effective heat management is one of the critical aspects of running an efficient and resilient operation because, if not adequately managed, excess heat can lead to increased electricity consumption and decreased efficiency – the hotter a miner runs, the more likely that something could go wrong.

In Russia, miners have a lot of problems now, because electricity is needed for completely different production needs, and new large modern power plants will not be built so quickly. Household power grids are controlled more seriously, so mining in a garage or at home is very difficult

120 asics pull huge power. no home can run that many.

all s19 do 2.7 to 3.4 kwatts

that is 300 to 400kwatts.

or 1500 to 2000 amps at 240 volts.

a home does not have a service that big.

maybe 200 amps at 240 which is 48 kwatts so may 10  to 15 asics of the s19 version

even s9 when modded do 1 kwatt a home may do 30 or so not 120

In America, electricity consumption is limited by the power of a private transformer, and in Russia this consumption is limited by the thickness of the wires.
Very often you can see lawsuits from energy companies against owners of residential buildings that have consumed more than 50 kilowatts per hour for a very long time and pay according to the social tariff.

Don't you ever set up a mining rig and walk away like nothing happened, don't even try to go on holiday thinking you will be fine since you can monitor the mining rig on your smartphone, you will end up burning down your house or garage.

I can't even count how many few times I've saved my home from burning down when I am mining heavily in 2020, I learnt my lessons differently.

Cheap power supply getting burnt and starting a fire.

Cheap extension socket almost most me millions in my local currency.

I moved to solar and got myself a bad installer, who did a very bad job on wiring and almost burnt the whole house down.

What saved me from these disaster? I was always at home guiding the miners, watching them closely.

Good power supplies have excellent protection against many things: overheating, short circuit, they work in the range of 140-250 volts. I had an experience when I came to my rigs once every 3 months, my sockets were burning, but the protection system turned off the electricity. But I completely agree that with high power, you definitely need an observer on duty who will turn off the switch.
