Actually first user of the forum admin registered on November 18, 2009, 02:12:33 AM.
satoshi account was created one day later. Still it's a good catch. I don't see any thread celebrating Bitcointalk's birthday. Happy 14 years!

I saw this post on Facebook this morning and I wanted to share that memory with everyone here too, but I was just busy contemplating where will be the right board to share this, as I don’t know where it actually belong since I’m not yet too conversant with the forum and things that need to be posted in a particular board, and running a quick search I also come across this your post which if I don’t I could have made the mistake of duplicated topic.

Indeed it’s a thing worth to be celebrated in my own opinion, it marks the very beginning of some ideas regarding bitcoin which has grown up to the level that it is right now.

Should we call it 14yrs anniversary or what should it be titled as?

To be technically correct, satoshi never posted on Bitcointalk. He was a member on the bitcoin forums that were hosted on bitcoin.org and sourceforge. Satoshi disappeared before Bitcointalk was created with this domain. All his/their posting was done on the old forums.

Come to think of it — I wonder how long Bitcointalk would've survived if it wasn't for signature campaigns? Activity wouldn't be this big if it wasn't for bounties.

Happy birthday to Bitcointalk forum I won't just say I have learnt enough and yet still learning and gaining more experience as time goes. There's no forum like here and I can profess that no place no forum and site that has covered a variety of information and bitcoin discussion than this forum.

Truly it's worth celebrating!

Come to think of it — I wonder how long Bitcointalk would've survived if it wasn't for signature campaigns? Activity wouldn't be this big if it wasn't for bounties.

Who knows maybe only few users could have been active by now, but still we also appreciate the forum for creating a space for signature to be hosted here.

It wouldn't have been successful as this I can give you that but it's all part of the process because Bitcoin gaining awareness was bound to be use in some many field and the gambling industry was the ideal business to help boost this rapid growth and with this came so many other initiative that would follow for the awareness of Bitcoin used as a means for gambling and so many other services and where would be the perfect or ideal place of not for the official Bitcointalk site created to help spread the word on Bitcoin.

Well with that been said, happy 14 years anniversary to the forum and massive Bitcoin awareness  Grin

I believe it will survive without signature campaigns, but survive with very less traffic. Seeing how a forum is successful by having a signature campaign, I wonder why the other forum not follow this kind promotion.

Yes, as much as they have been criticised for the quality, both the signature campaigns and the gambling section I believe they have played an important role in both the survival of this forum and the popularisation of bitcoin.

I believe it will survive without signature campaigns, but survive with very less traffic. Seeing how a forum is successful by having a signature campaign, I wonder why the other forum not follow this kind promotion.

This has been discussed many times and if for example signature campaigns were banned here, for reasons of quality or whatever, what would happen is that campaigns and traffic would go to another forum. So it's not going to happen, especially since the merit system was introduced, which improved the situation with spam a lot.

14 years after the founder of this bitcointalk forum Satoshi Nakamoto registered on this forum, alot of improvement have been put in place since then, more users registering on daily basis. Indeed this forum have transformed the life of so many individuals across the world, this global forum have brought about togetherness among users across the world as there have been cordial interaction among one another on how to help each other achieve the adoption of this future generation currency call bitcoin.

Firstly, I would have to use one of the social media platforms, for instance, like Instagram, one of the best social media platforms, and why, because most celebrities are there using the platform and they are paid according to their likes, comments and followers, same as Twitter (X) too.
However, if those social media platforms can still pay their users, I still believe that even without the signature champagne there might still be another means users will get paid, just like the merits source, moderators and staff. Even if not all the forum members are getting paid, there will still be people on the forum.

Signature campaigns and bounties definitely liven things up around here, but I wonder what Bitcointalk would be like without them? I guess folks might still hang around just to chat crypto though. The vibe would definitely change but change isn't always bad.

Given the historic past for satoshi 14 years ago and now that we look back, Binance tweeted satoshi on X.com because this is the history of the inventor of bitcoin.

Actually first user of the forum admin registered on November 18, 2009, 02:12:33 AM.
I see this admin user has 7 posts, but can't see his posts, what's wrong with that?

Come to think of it — I wonder how long Bitcointalk would've survived if it wasn't for signature campaigns? Activity wouldn't be this big if it wasn't for bounties.
Thinking like that that if there was no signature campaign it wouldn't last long and it wouldn't get this much traffic, but that's how the forum's complementary signature promotion grew bigger.

True. These sig campaigns are like the engine that keeps the forum working and lively because if anyone were to argue otherwise and say it's mainly for the information, I think that would be telling yourself a lie because if it were so, you could have gotten that info elsewhere. The sigs and bounty campaigns just added spice and a uniqueness to the forum...Happy belated anniversary to BitcoinTalk!

............
Why not? But it's probably not going to happen this year since it's already late. The last time it happened was a month before the anniversary, so maybe it'll happen on the 15th anniversary. Let's see if the admins has a surprise for us. I've been participating in art contests in the service section this past months but this BitcoinTalk art contest is the one I've been waiting for. If I'm not mistaken you won the last BitcoinTalk art contest.

Come to think of it — I wonder how long Bitcointalk would've survived if it wasn't for signature campaigns? Activity wouldn't be this big if it wasn't for bounties.

Seriously we won't have gotten much traffic if it wasn't for SIG campaign, and I know we have members who would kick against it. It doesn't matter if we tell ourselves the truth or not. These campaign makes the form to be extra busy and it has improved many users posting quality.

If it was possible I would have ordered a cake...
Congratulations to Bitcointalk and thank you for making it possible for us to be here.

In the beginning, there were no signature campaigns, and in addition, Bitcoin did not have a price that motivated people, as is the case today - and yet a respectable community was created then, of which, unfortunately, there are not many members who are active on the forum today. Of course, the campaigns played a big role (and they still do today), although it should be said that the benefit was mutual because many companies from the world of cryptocurrencies successfully advertised on this forum.

I see this admin user has 7 posts, but can't see his posts, what's wrong with that?

I think that these posts are somehow hidden or even deleted. As far as I remember, it was probably some kind of test posts that did not have any important meaning. See more here -> Older profile than Theymos

I just noticed (from my full Merit data - large file) that satoshi received 1 Merit from gmaxwell for this post. I'm not sure if it was posted in public, but I'm pretty sure the post didn't get deleted. So Mods: what did he post? Cheesy

That was one of the test messages in Staff Forum. Also first post of satoshi in the forum.

satoshi account was created one day later. Still it's a good catch. I don't see any thread celebrating Bitcointalk's birthday. Happy 14 years!

Only those passionate about Bitcoin discussion and those who are into altcoin bounty campaigns. We have something to thank the administrator even though it is a give-and-take where participants create content and get compensated for creating discussions that ranked the forum on top of some of the keywords pertaining to Bitcoin and other keywords related to Cryptocurrency.

I hope we can celebrate our silver anniversary with all the prime movers and great contributors still here doing the things they are good at doing.

Next time, just follow your mind and do what you have to do in time. Even if you are wrong about the section you posted it, you will be guided rightly and moderators can help you move it to the right section, we always got each other. Smiley

By the way, I wonder how a big head like CZ knows much about Bitcointalk but couldn't come here to advertise...he needs a cane...lol.

Above all, Happy Birthday to Bitcointalk! The best and greatest forum I've ever participated in. Aside from the monetary benefits, this site has ever been an educational blessing and eye-opener. It has encouraged me to invest in Bitcoin and other coins and has increased my knowledge of online protection and safety. Kudos!

Actually first user of the forum admin registered on November 18, 2009, 02:12:33 AM.
satoshi account was created one day later.
That account lived barely five days after its registration and then got abandoned. I suspect it was created by the same person that created the Satoshi account.

BTW, it was November 17, not 18.

Let's have some throwback. Let me start with;

Satoshi signed up on BitcoinTalk 14 years ago. A big day in Bitcoin's history!

Wow - I almost missed it, but if only Satoshi could still hear the voice of his community, then I would like to wish him a happy birthday right now. Yes – that was 14 years ago, but it seems like just yesterday. Time flies so fast and we have come a long way in the 14 years since then - even Satoshi should know that the bitcoin he founded has achieved greater achievements than he expected.

Seeing how a forum is successful by having a signature campaign, I wonder why the other forum not follow this kind promotion.

Success isn't a large number of mediocre posts.  When you pay people to post, obviously they will post with more frequency, but that doesn't mean their forum is useful.

Man, 14 years and we now have something that no one expected. The forum has grown to way higher levels then expected and if I'm not wrong then the forum used to be hosted on another site and basically it was a built in board of that site but now the forum is on its own domain name and people know it by the name of Bitcointalk.org which is a great achievement.

I would say thumbs up to all those people who contributed to the forum in its early days and it's because of those people that we are still using this forum. This forum is only of the most important things in the lives of the users who post here and some of us enjoy spending hours on this forum.

Congratulations on 14th birthday of the forum and I hope that after 6 more years we will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of this amazing forum and surely by then the worth of a single Bitcoin will be over $250k or maybe over $1M a coin.

It's our optimistic thinking that has helped us to be here for more than 14 years and I'm proud to say that I have been a member of this forum since 2016 and it has been a life changer for me.

Yeah extremely worth to be celebrated countless of people are solely depending on this forum and yet won't appreciate the cool moment of this forum. Lot of people who involved in this forum that are dedicated to bitcoin discussion are still active doing their discussion without looking at being paid or not but still only them I believe would be regular to post here although activity maybe reduced. 14 years not 14 days or 14 months..

Happy 14 years old Bitcointalk, alright so... will we see 14th anniversary art contest? /jk.

Come to think of it — I wonder how long Bitcointalk would've survived if it wasn't for signature campaigns? Activity wouldn't be this big if it wasn't for bounties.
I believe it will survive without signature campaigns, but survive with very less traffic. Seeing how a forum is successful by having a signature campaign, I wonder why the other forum not follow this kind promotion.
Yes it would have survived, but signature campegn is the propelling force that made it stand firm till date. I think if it were not for campegn there will be less people on this forum because the signature has been so helpful to many to achieve some certain goals. I think it's worth to be celebrated. Satoshi Nakamoto has a dream of solving financial crisis by creating bitcoin and also created this bitcoin community in other for less knowledgeable person's to be awear of bitcoin and the inportants. And the the risk involved. Also to let people understand that bitcoin is not just a get Rich quick scheme. I think his dream is Achieved because what he needed was for bitcoin information to continue spreading even when his no More.

I respect Satoshi Nakamoto alot. Despite he chose to anonymous. And was for a good reason. Because if he should present himself to the public he wouldn't have been given a second thought to even achieve his dreams. Of producing bitcoin. If atol was given it would still have been controled by government and I will no longer be decentralized but centralized. Respect to a genius Satoshi Nakamoto.

Happy Birthday to the account of Satoshi here although he might not reply to my wish but still I am wishing hehe. By the way, I already came to know about this information from Binance exchange yeah from Binance exchange. They have a news notification system in which they combine 4 to 5 news in a bullet format and show a notification.

In that notification they shared this same news with almost the same words, I was shocked at that time because till then (the time of the shared news) no one had shared this information here on BTT and I thought Binance was more enthusiasts about BTC and Satoshi then BTTians.

Well, it's a long time which looks too short if compared with the progress of BTC and how far it has gone in terms of performance even the satoshi him/herself did not assume that BTC would have gone this far in such a short period of time because it was his quote that either in 20 years BTC would be zero or would gain enormous volume. And he mentioned/predicted 20 years while BTC has outperformed his 20 years prediction.

If only it was possible to copy a forum database and move it to a new dedicated domain name instead of a subdomain on another site.......

Seeing how a forum is successful by having a signature campaign, I wonder why the other forum not follow this kind promotion.

Success isn't a large number of mediocre posts.  When you pay people to post, obviously they will post with more frequency, but that doesn't mean their forum is useful.
I think for one reason, the culture of donations was lost, maybe it is because of the price, maybe people are no longer grateful, if that culture were not ended, there would be more interesting posts and people willing to help with the problems of others.

Disagree. Just check out the Dev & Tech board now and before signature campaigns. Currently, being paid to help there is like being a mod in stackexchange, but with less responsibilities and more flexibility.

I think for one reason, the culture of donations was lost, maybe it is because of the price, maybe people are no longer grateful, if that culture were not ended, there would be more interesting posts and people willing to help with the problems of others.
There would be less meaningless, unoriginal posts, granted. But, I strongly disagree that there would be more helpful posts. Quite the contrary. The current ability to resolve Bitcoin-related issues within a few hours demonstrates that a predominantly paid-driven board fosters a constructive and helpful environment.

There was no bitcointalk 14 years ago. Bitcointalk started in June 2011.

Bitcointalk was registered on June 24, 2011.
https://who.is/whois/bitcointalk.org
Actually it's a good point but bitcoin talk is it's new name or you can say a second name of bitcoin talk before bitcointalk it was named as bitcoin forum and as far as I know the layout was also different. But still the title should be bitcoin forum but in another sense many might not understand what bitcoin forum is.

Therefore for understanding purposes the usage of bitcoin talk is better. I think you took it wrong, because this forum did existed before 2011 but with different name. I hope now you know the reality.
For more information you should read this thread it will help you. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2905330.0

Actually first user of the forum admin registered on November 18, 2009, 02:12:33 AM.
satoshi account was created one day later. Still it's a good catch. I don't see any thread celebrating Bitcointalk's birthday. Happy 14 years!

A good catch indeed, am just getting to know about this information as well about the first forum account created named admin, this equally means that Satoshi ia the second account created after this, the first account wasn't active ever since the same month it was created in while Satoshi still lasted the following year before going inactive, we keep learning each time about the forum, thanks EFS for this additional informations.

Come to think of it — I wonder how long Bitcointalk would've survived if it wasn't for signature campaigns? Activity wouldn't be this big if it wasn't for bounties.

If there were no signature campaigns or bounties, the forum would still be here but I doubt we would have as much traffic as we do now. The rewards of signature campaigns is a good reason why many users are still active here and care so much about this place. Of course there are other things they make the forum compelling, the information and data here is second to none. Also people feel a sentimental attachment to their bitcointalk account, they are proud of what they have achieved here….the ranks, the posts, merits, badges e.t.c. I think signature campaigns make the forum better, users tend to improve their post quality when they are in a campaign.

To be technically correct, satoshi never posted on Bitcointalk. He was a member on the bitcoin forums that were hosted on bitcoin.org and sourceforge. Satoshi disappeared before Bitcointalk was created with this domain. All his/their posting was done on the old forums.
Actually, that's true.
Come to think of it — I wonder how long Bitcointalk would've survived if it wasn't for signature campaigns? Activity wouldn't be this big if it wasn't for bounties.
bounties plays a big in the forum's activity ratio; it's not been the same overtime... If you could observe, the level of impression created by the forum has been high off ever since the merit system was created; people have gained so much knowledge in here, though (sometimes, they may be told about the benefits from bounties and that could be Thier motivation) but I can bodly say Bitcointalkforum is a solid 35% influence on the awareness created about Bitcoin...
so sig campaigners are basically like paid tech support?

i like that
If that's what you're comfortable calling it.

I checked this profile and it has 7 activity and 7 posts but no post is showing on the profile, which means the posts were deleted or moved to another profile. I guess the account 'admin' should belong to either theymos or cobra before they realised there might be more than 1 admin.

satoshi account was created one day later. Still it's a good catch. I don't see any thread celebrating Bitcointalk's birthday. Happy 14 years!

We celebrate pizza day and even enter into pizza context but the one that is ours is not celebrated.

Come to think of it — I wonder how long Bitcointalk would've survived if it wasn't for signature campaigns? Activity wouldn't be this big if it wasn't for bounties.

It would have survived as long as today but it will just be as boring as other forums with less traffic and activities.

This is a law of reciprocity, promoted projects strive to establish their product name well in these forums and even outside the forums,
this will also provide an increased search index about the promoted project.

The project will have a good product name, and we will benefit in the form of rewards from everything we discuss in this forum.
A campaign will also make other members interested in visiting and even using the project, so this is a positive law of reciprocity for both parties.

In addition to ratings, posts, achievements, badges etc., it is an advantage for active members that make them more productive.
A signature campaign is a reward for the contribution made.

Looking back in the past when there were not too many signature campaigns like today, it proves that signature campaigns are a way to promote a good project,
even 1 project can last for years.

If the signature campaign stops, there's still a lot that can be done.
There are all sorts of bounties, several art contests and other opportunities.

For 14 years the Forum has continued to grow, and the campaign has also developed well and become a center of information about Bitcoin,
cryptocurrency and various technologies that exist in the crypto ecosystem.

Satoshi created the forum for 14 years thanks to Satoshi. Because of his contribution we all here in this forum can enjoy. Bounty and signature campaigns are the spice of this forum due to which everyone flocks here. However, we are happy to work with all of Satoshi's contribution.

14 years is quite big enough, we all know that this forum will exist now and beyond, this forum will teach a lot of people want to learn in Bitcoin and related cryptocurrency as we all know that through this forum we can learn a lot of things we can gathered a lot of information ,
And now on anniversary is coming but still it's working and helping people. And also we can earn a lot of money through Bounties and signature campaign.
