If Theymos think KYC is needed then I will be first one to do my KYC without any hesitation.
Do you want to say that is a dictatorship at the forum, not a democracy? That is, no one will ask the people’s opinion?

You have no faith on Theymos and his actions?  What he is doing will be best for us. Some times we are aware of many factors and we thinks that specific decision will not favor us but it is best for everyone, just like recently mixers issue as many of members are not happy with this decision but it is fact that this decision will favor all us in future.

Great! You'll get to enjoy the quietest forum on the planet. Do you think satoshi would have gone through KYC?

You are really trolling today.

If you are talking about this forum, there will be no KYC.

Even those social media do not require KYC, not to talk of forums.
I will say from my perspective op is misunderstanding what theymos said or point of the thread of mixers to be ban in bitcointalk, I read the thread more than three times and I have not seen the aspect theymos portray about KYC in bitcointalk, actually the essence of been done KYC verification is base on transactions, we having account in bitcoin is equivalent to people who have account in other social media and none of social media KYC verification is been done, I know quite well that verification of account's is been done to exchange platform in which the objective of the KYC is to know their customers...act's" i think you are perfectly correct with your suggestion.

I don't care , I have my own lifestyle, own idea. I am not a millionaire so that I fear of any financial loss. I am not going to do any criminal work here in Bitcointalk. What will be your action if Authority ask for KYC?

Privacy is more than just finances.

Do you mean the "I have nothing to hide" approach?

Which authority? You mean the scenario in which government forces Bitcointalk to ask all users for a copy of their passport? I'd do the same as I do with any other website that collects more information than they should have:
Code:
sudo echo '127.0.0.1 bitcointalk.org' >> /etc/hosts

My guess is that the people who are leaving were only here to spam whatever shady product will pay them to do so.  They don't care about Bitcoin or this community.  They only care about easy money and how to get the most of it possible with the least amount of effort.  Usually starting drama or taking shots at actual Bitcoiners who build things or pretending to care about privacy.  I say good riddance to these folks.  The forum was a whole lot better before signature campaigns took over and if all the people who are only here to profit from posting leave, we will all be far better off in the long run.  That's probably why...  I'd give up my signature earnings in a heartbeat if it meant this place could travel in time back to 2012 when the people who were here actually cared about Bitcoin's success instead of how much Bitcoin they can get.

The ban on mixers finally proved that the forum is centralized. And as the authorities order the admin, so it will be

Unlicensed cryptocurrency trading is carried out on the forum. This is already a reason to introduce the KYC procedure

The forum is registered in the USA and must comply with US laws and cooperate with FATF and AML enforcement agencies

Any trade done through the forum is done peer-to-peer. Bitcointalk never takes custody of anyones funds so it isn't a money service business and isn't obligated to comply with AML regulation. It's no different from people selling gift cards for PayPal on Reddit and Telegram. KYC won't be introduced because there is no law requiring it.

I don't see a relationship between KYC and dictatorship, even in a democracy which frowns at dictatorship, KYC is allowed. All I see is that many of you are taking this too far and some of you do not have constructive arguments about the subject, but only repetitions that are at times not related to the subject matter itself.

And for the record, theymos will never be concerned about KYC, this is an informal forum, so I don't see how he can even think towards that, especially as this is a forum of a decentralised asset. However, just as @Gladitorcomeback said, if he ever requested it, I would be happy to oblige as well.

Has everyone read this news today?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476162.0

In this regard, the entire crypto-community has the following question:
Theymos, when KYC will be introduced at bitcointalk.org?
As weird as this might sound, it is also possible. Some years ago, if we were told that mixers would be banned in bitcointalk, we might not believe. Let's assume that FBI requires that theymos conduct KYC for all the users of bitcointalk or stop functioning. Do you think that theymos will choose shutting bitcointalk over KYC. Or do you feel that theymos will go to court to contest with the government.

You create this thread when you were in deep sleep and by the time when you wake up, you will realize that what you have dreamt can be possible in real life. Though there are some dreams that come out from different dimension and probably you were saying when Mixers will be using KYC and according to @nutildah, if mixers used KYC then the real purpose of mixer is defeated therefore keeping personal privacy by mixers is the number priority for them. Therefore, as for the forum there will be no KYC and for the Mixers, that is their decision to take whether KYC would conducted or not.

If KYC is introduced in the forum the government will the fight against bitcoin gradually. To be on the saved side KYC will never be introduced in the forum.
