The Joy of forgotten Bitcoin accounts...

I can imagine your happiness right now, like getting a sack of treasure when looking for a needle in a haystack,
I've also experienced this, but it's different from you, I'm only in Doge, I forgot that I ever placed a trade with Doge in one of the markets, I don't know, maybe I forgot I ever made a transaction there, even though it's not much, it's very valuable when it's quiet, earning money in a bear season like this.

Well, such occurrences is very common with altcoins, even when mine happened, it was an altcoin that was involve.
One incident I can't ever forget is also one time when i opened xt exchange, and discovered that one altcoin I've been holding since 2017 has been listed there, and was trading above $5 person, and I had about 26,000 of the tokens sitting in one of my wallets.

When I saw, I instantly remembered that I had some of those tokens, I started searching my wallet, reimporting the ones I had previously stopped using, and boom, I managed to get the wallet where I kept the tokens, did the calculation and this tokens were already worth over $125,000, I marvelled and immediately tried to deposit it to xt exchange so I could sell it, but unfortunately, I discovered that xt disabled deposit, I was very disappointed.

As of today, the price of the token have dropped drastically, and xt still have not enabled deposits, and worst is, xt is the only exchange where the token is currently listed.

A very close short at making a huge amount of money.

This put a huge smile on my face, because it is the EXPENSIVE holiday season and I need all the money that I can get to fund this silly time of the year.

Going through emails  for forgotten treasures can  be a lot of fun if you find something that has value today. Around 2018 I got the same momentum but the value was not as high. Because the start of any project is not always  profitable so we consider it no longer valuable. However information after information makes us remember things that turn out to be stored  assets that are now of high value.  In fact the crypto project was no longer running but somehow came back to life and  has a price on the market. We actually became true treasure hunters checking every email message that contained keywords.

Glad to hear you found something valuable and useful as some people  who discover  the world of crypto long enough have the potential to have hidden gems. Bitcoin faucets alone weren't  worth much in the past but who would have thought they could be worth so much now.

Have you tried to find any useful information as to why the exchange has disabled the deposit? I had the same scenario the last time I checked my old exchange account and to my surprise, I was able to retrieve one account with an altcoin. But the thing is, the deposit and withdrawal are disabled and then I gathered information to confirm the reason, the coin has no actual value and the price shown on the website is just an error that's why it is disabled. I thought I hit a jackpot during that time. Lol

I also had a small amount of Dogecoin on faucet site... but they closed it down. (Freebitco.in also had a dogecoin faucet) ...would be nice if I found that info.... because Dogecoin was shit back in those days. (The whole Elon Musk thing... hyped it a little... but I cannot seem to find anything I kept.. from the account I created for that)  

I knew some real stories about that as I shared and personally had painful story with Dogecoin. I held it for like a half of year or longer in the 2019 bear market and lost my patience, so I sold my Dogecoin before Elon Musk pumped it to crazy moon.

I wish I just left it on an exchange and forgot about it to get a fortune but it's already happened and I can not have a time travel to fix it.

Have I had this happen? Not quite, but I've heard stories like that. Somewhat strangely, it reminds me of how low Bitcoin has been: $4000 or even $400 back then, who knows what tomorrow? Its kind of like a modern-day treasure hunt, these abandoned digital nooks and crannies can sometimes lead to surprising riches. Also, it shows how important it is to keep your digital life clean by regularly checking old accounts and changing passwords. It's amazing what surprises can be found in old letters

This is just a simple explanation that you have an exchange account which had some bitcoin left unaware in it for years and you could have access back to the platform and claim your coins, you must be very lucky with this because they have already stated that dormant accounts will be blocked, this is all about you being lucky not to have loose access to your coin and not to have being blocked or the exchange or platform hacked, this is a risk you've taken, this has ever happened to me before.

I know how nice this is because I experienced the same thing when I opened one of my old accounts in some of our local exchanges back then it was just enough amount for one good meal but since the years have passed the price has insanely increased and I was able to buy a new phone because of that. I got it from winning random giveaways from airdrops back then when they were more legit than fakes and I completely forgot it until I checked them without knowing I was one of the winners back then.

Yes something like this have happened to me, but not this year, it was last year, I have used several crypto wallets in the past and there was this wallet that I still keep it's recovery seed, I just decided to import the key into metamask for nothing sake but to my surprise I have some left over BTC on the wallet, the last transaction I made on it was in 2017 bull market, the amount isn't much though but I got $47 BTC that I have long forget about.

I also have some tokens in there but only one out of like 16 altcoins have good value, I remember I used the wallet for Airdrop too, I sold the token since it's already dying, not much volume available and exchange it for BTC, I think the altcoin was worth $15 then I moved them to my latest crypto wallet address.

Congratulations to you OP if this story of yours is true.

Mine was having a shitcoin airdrop way back then, that's why I didn't bother to sell it that time. Way back 2018, its price went up to a decent amount, but it's not that big, I sold it for around $500 worth of Ethereum. I was so happy with that since it was just an airdrop. I don't know how big was your fund collected from your old account or wallet but I'm pretty sure that was a blessing in disguise.

I see people questioning about the genuineness of op story I can't blame their doubts as a lot of stories similar to this sort has been cooked and served on the forum many times but something tells me this is a real one as I have had someone with similar experience in his own case he was so lucky to have the username and password in an old scrap pad (notebook) he lost memory of where he had placed it after some years when he was relocating  as he was packing and disposing off item's he won't be needing anymore he stumbled on the notebook. So things like this happen but in different ways for different people people only that we can't say for sure which is genuine when we read them in the forum.

I have experience such thing before that put smile in my like never before, when Ethereum make all time high during last Bull Run session, so I was checking my Ethereum wallet that have 0.82ETH as a gas fees, has turned huge return amount of money and that makes me understand that anything can happen in cryptocurrency industries as a financial freedom.

I never forget about leaving my Bitcoin on the site accounts, I always made a note on several devices. Since Bitcoin is my priority in investment, it is something that I often check regularly. However, it is different with altcoins, I sometimes forget that I have few altcoins in certain wallets or account sites. I ever have the similar story about my altcoins, I already forget the altcoins for few years. Someday, when I checked each of my existing wallets, I found the altcoins valued hundred dollars. I directly sent them to exchanges and converted to USDT. But because of the urgent needs, finally I converted them to fiats and spend all the money. Sure, finding forgotten coins worth hundreds or thousands of dollars is like finding hidden treasure.

This email warned me that the site are going to delete all the dormant accounts, so I navigated to the site (manually... not clicking on links) and tried to login. I obviously forgot the password, so I clicked on the "forgot password" option and it allowed me to change my password. 

Very lucky you can still access your email. After all, if the email can still be logged in, of course you can still use the forgot password feature. What's sad is when we also lose access to our email and really don't have access anymore, then it's over. ha ha ha

Wow, really? I think it's too good a value for the approaching holiday season. You should have fun with your money - but it may be wise to use some of it to expand your investment portfolio.

With Bitcoin? No, with Fiat? Yeah... 

I have never forgotten my Bitcoin on any centralized platform before, and that is probably because I just joined the Bitcoin space a few years ago when the price was already above $10k, and even after then, I was very concerned and conscious of every dollar I invested in Bitcoin. The only coin I know I forgot in some random exchanges that later crashed was Dogecoin, and I lost the coin due to the crash of that exchange. You are very lucky, @OP, to have gained such a fortune, and that's also because you got into Bitcoin quite on time. This time around, people don't forget their bitcoin anywhere because every little fraction of it is very valuable.

Well Op, I only wish I have a similar experience because in my entire life , I m ywt to forget the login to where I have funds saved up, let alone forgetting that I have such an account with as much fund in it.
I do check my email on a regular basis because of the fact that I receive work mails and even personal mails from long lost aquaintances.

You might also want to dip into those old Bitcoin addresses that you used before all of these forks, there are some treasures to be found. I forgot about some of them and I read one of your posts and I remembered that I still had some of those FREE tokens. (Eg.. Bitcoin Cash/trash)

I have done this a couple of times and see penny's that cannot be moved due to transaction fees. It would have been a great motivation if I had seen something substantial and would have been a way of encouraging me to hold for longer period.

You might also want to dip into those old Bitcoin addresses that you used before all of these forks, there are some treasures to be found. I forgot about some of them and I read one of your posts and I remembered that I still had some of those FREE tokens. (Eg.. Bitcoin Cash/trash) 

I actually saw some foks that dropped in my wallet but they are small since I have small balance of Bitcoin. I even have XLM too in my wallet and I don't know how come about it.

It is good that you got well from forgotten account. It is a matter of great luck and fortune that you have earned Bitcoin with good profit and happiness. It also means that we have to keep doing something. Because our work will definitely give us some benefit in the future. That is, life is the name of doing something. I can relate, I had wallets I used back then when bitcoin was yet to hit thousands, I needed to get some funds so I went to my one of my wallets and behold I stumbled upon a wallet, trust me, I didn't expect what I saw, then I thought to myself, maybe I should have more wallets and often throw minor funds into them only to wake up to them years after as fortunes.
