I'm not from the US, and I find this news quite interesting. It reminds me of the economic crisis tragedy that happened in my country (25 years ago), and the situation is almost similar: a supermarket being attacked by many people stealing goods and food. But unlike a flash mob, this attack doesn't seem to have a boss.

The so-called "Flash Mob Theft," where a large group steals together, and yeah... they has a boss. The group are paid hundreds of $ to take items for their boss. In return, the group get a small share of the stolen goods. The latest news I heard is that the boss sells these stolen items online at a slightly lower price to quickly find buyers.

Is this a challenging situation for the police in the US? Is it difficult to identify one of the subordinates and chase them using fingerprints or CCTV  for interrogation? I don't know why this has been happening for the past few years and even repeatedly.

Could it be a collaboration between the store and the thieves to take advantage of their insurance to reach the minimum or maximum limit? Because from what I've heard, store employees are not allowed to intervene when such attacks occur, either for safety reasons or because the store has plans unknown to its employees.

The OP doesn't explain it all, and that is that these robberies happen mostly and massively in Democratic states that are lenient on crime, critical of police and have lowered penalties for all types of crimes, including these. Take California, for example.

California Democrat frustrated by rising theft admits liberal crime bill was 'big mistake'

As it usually happens, they have made the problem they said they were going to solve bigger.

Lol sounds like we’ve got an angry conservative. The fact of the matter is the most heavily populated places in this country tend to be ran by democrats. But it doesn’t mean this doesn’t happen when ran by Republicans. Just take a look at Chicago before their two most recent mayors as well as ILs last Governor. Still had these issues.  A lot of it also seems to stems from Covid for whatever reason.

As an independent I actually prefer many republican laws over democratic..however I don’t see them making this problem much better as both parties are corrupt as all hell. If you don’t understand that something is wrong with you.

Law enforcement has to take tougher stance and be more vigilant because it's not just about robbing convenience stores or jewelers store but rather it's about the mindset of these teenagers and the example which is set in their mind which will let them towards further serious crime. It's a shame that it's happening in a country like USA where an ordinary citizen is under so much surveillance but thugs are not even caught. It would have severe impact, just imagine people start fighting back and using guns for self defense then it would be a full blown violence putting lives of innocents at risk.

It's not too late to increase the security and initiate an operation against these thugs and put them into hard labor to make them realize how much of an effort ordinary man put for their bread and butter which they rob.

Regardless of the causes and the consequences of these flash mob thefts, to me it is obvious that it serves very well as a political propaganda in favor of Republicans over Democrats.
I am not from the United States by the way, but as far as I have read on the internet, the penitentiary infrastructure of the country is very crowded and full with inmates who have mostly committed crimes in relation to drugs, violence and gang activities. So perhaps in the minds of the liberal politicians, people stealing from stores are not supposed to be treated equally like those who shot someone or dedicated their years as drug traffickers. Specially if they were stealing food, it sounds good intentioned, but unfortunately it can lead to people to continue commiting small crimes when they perceive their is little to no consequences to their actions.

Here in my country we went through a period of time when the president himself said that he did not think it was fair to procesute people stealing food from a supermarket. He was into socialism obviously and as we can expect, things did not go well to our country when talking about food security in general.

It is pity and a shame such a developed country like the United States has supermarkets where the products needs to be locked at all times behind a crystal, that is the kind of stuff I would expect happening here and it does not.  Sad

Me too. I'm going to call you angry conservative, then. Welcome to the club.

Flash Mob Theft it is something recent, not something that happened more than two legislatures ago, but if you want to give examples, look at what New York was like before Giulianni, during Giulianni's term and what it is like today.

Leaving aside supposed exceptions the Democrats are tolerant of crime, they lower penalties, blame the police at the drop of a hat instead of the criminals, etc. This has real consequences in the form of increased crime, filth, zombie neighborhoods like Kensington and so on.

however I don’t see them making this problem much better as both parties are corrupt as all hell. If you don’t understand that something is wrong with you.

If they are on equal footing in terms of corruption I prefer those who are tough on crime and keep the city clean and orderly.

Boils down mainly on law enforcement and welfare. I noticed it escalated back then when people where blaming and hating on cops or security agencies for their mode of operations. Some began to resign or became too reserved and the criminals were embolden due also to the justification of their bad behaviors.

By the way, a society where people are made to doubt the existence of a CREATOR should never joke with its security and its citizens welfare. Strong law enforcement replaces lack of fear of a CREATOR otherwise the society turns into jungle where anarchy reigns.
