Having $500 is quite good amount of money, it will be too risky if it is used to buy those unfamiliar coins. If I have $500, I will also do the same thing, I will use a half of the money for buying Bitcoin and a half for buying 1-2 top altcoins (ETH, ADA).

I will be frank $500 isnt that much of money to invest you'll certainly need to adjust to your need, if you want shorter term of investment then go with top 50 altcoin which still have cheap value if you want long term then bitcoin and ethereum the way to go.
i would avoid future with high leverage for the safety but if you are eager to just increase the profit then you can try to do that but it will fall short when the market changing suddenly and you get liquidated meanwhile with spot you could just wait it out until it recovers back to the price where you make entry.
I'd personally go with L2 but anyone can have different opinion. but there are many coins that might be promising like ORDI and the likes which has shown quite good at this bullrun arounds.
regardless I think you should do analysis based on your own after getting advices for people to suit your needs.

personally I don't think $500 is that much amount of money at best you will get meaningful profit investing in altcoin, even with 60% allocation for investing in bitcoin it wouldn't give you that much profit anyway so you're just wasting time, its better to invest instead into coin thats strongly related with bitcoin like ORDI i guess that could give better chance of making profit since market capitalization still small meaning the increase would be big also the value of the coin itself relatively low, but then again its altcoin we are talking about so there's definitely higher chance of losing money so always careful in selecting altcoin always try to look at the fundamental and see which fare better and then you can proceeds to invest.

I believe in Crypto fundamentals, even though I swallowed a bitter pill because I experienced big losses because I wasn't strong enough to deal with market crashes. Since this thread is in the Altcoin speculation section, I believe OP is asking only about altcoins and Bitcoin shouldn't be included in that. Besides, you said you would invest 10% into several altcoins from the top 100 list, but you are not realizing that 10% of $500 is just $50, and I wonder how you are going to divide $50 in multiple altcoins and still expect to get profit because your profit will depend on your invested amount, investing $10 on an altcoin would barely get you anything.

The best solution would be to go with about two or 3 altcoins that are at the top, ETH should be the first one and a large percentage of the total capital should go into it, and the remaining percentage should be split into two parts and invested in the top 2 altcoins after ETH based on current ratings and future potential.

But you should get rid of money crunch so buy tokens that will bail you out before the bull market hits. Though I can agree with you about investing on ETH, but the buyer should make sure that he will keep up with what's happening to ETH network.
The amount which is 500 is not so big, this is the reason why some are suggesting to take a look at alts and not btc.

But at the end of the day, you will be the one who will finally decide on which coins or projects you want to allocate this spare funds.

5 times increase is a stretch tbh because today value is $2.3k and the all time high ever recorded is around less than $5k so 5 times would mean its gonna be beyond $10k for ethereum and I don't personally think thats realistic in my honest opinion.
I mean i know that in bullrun anything could happen but even right now we don't really know whether the bullrun gonna bring us to all time high added with the fact that ethereum trading volume and market capitalization is humongous that it might be difficult to pump unlike any other coin it'd be more realistic to invest in altcoin thats not as high as ethereum in term of value so overall its good investment but just not gonna give any meaningful increase moreover the capital is rather low, for every doubling of ethereum price we only get a fraction of the supposed profits.

One of the main problems with BNB is that you can only trade it at Binance. Many governments don't allow Binance anymore or put huge restrictions on it (my country also doesn't allow it) so I needed to cash out every BNB I had. Personally, I would just buy some more ETH, it is a safer bet and it has potential to go a lot higher.

I will use all the money to buy Ethereum (ETH). I think Ethereum is the safest coin to invest besides Bitcoin. But if I have more than $500, I will try to invest in Cardano (ADA) as well. One of the main problems with BNB is that you can only trade it at Binance. Many governments don't allow Binance anymore or put huge restrictions on it (my country also doesn't allow it) so I needed to cash out every BNB I had...

If I were to advise a genuine newbie in trading on this, I would say just put all the $500 in Bitcoin and hodl. Did you know XRP was hacked yesterday from a manager.  How do they keep their coin market right where managers can't secure their coins? I think XRP is the riskiest to invest in right now. Although many influencers predict XRP, I do not recommend investing in XRP on the words of those influencers and do not try to invest myself. What are the odds of that happening? Don't you think that a cryptocurrency that has already earned its name and position in the market would be a better choice when making such a decision? Even if you decide to invest in a new coin or token, at least don't put all your eggs in one basket because if the token or coin fails and doesn't fulfil your expectations, all you can do then is regret your decision which is to no avail.

It still outperformed a lot of altcoins in the recent pump that Bitcoin had when hitting $52k, it had a better growth percentage than most of the older altcoins which was great considering it and its backing project, Binance, had been through a lot of regulatory pressure lately and they still aren't completely out of it. So I think it might outperform most of the altcoins during the bull run if things stay how they are and there aren't any additions to the problems they have been facing.

That's probably the best strategy when it comes to investments in a market that is highly volatile and unpredictable. You never know what might happen next in the cryptocurrency market, so you can't expect any cryptocurrency to work exactly in your favour and have all your money invested in it. It's wise to choose multiple cryptocurrencies instead so that if a few of them fail and don't give you any returns, the others might balance your capital along with some profits.

I recommend shiba inu, core, and also check at Kucoin trading site because there's a lot of potential assets that's going to rise soon.
However doing your own research is the most important ways before deciding to hold this tokens. That $500 is worth enough to invest with different promising project, and our key is patience and emotion control. Our success is dependent on how we handle ourselves towards volatility of the market.

I think you forgot that the current market is not inclined towards utility. It is more into meme coins and we have seen earlier this year what kind of returns these meme coins generated. Meme coins that are considered to be the top have already been in their prime and can't perform the way people expect when they are making investments in them, so a person who wishes to make investments in meme coins just to try their luck, should do it on new meme coins because they are the ones that might spark some light and bring you a lot of profit all of a sudden if you are extremely lucky.

Considering that the money involved in making an investment is not what is that much, i will rather choose to buy bitcoin only or make investment in bitcoin with $250 and the remaining half should go on other altcoins like Solana, Pepe or Doge, then with time, we may also decide to be making a top up as we can afford to increase on any of those investment, when the market go bearish then we invest and hold.

I don't know if the OP is still paying attention to the topic he created, but if I had $500 then I would invest in the Ethena token

currently the token is hype and the TVL has already passed $1B, currently Ethena has even managed to enter 100 CMC, I'm quite confident about Ethena's potential in the future, the price will definitely increase 3x or 5x

bnb, jup, manta,  arb, fantom and there are many more. But unfortunately none of these what you have mentioned in your poll.

Arb BNB and Manta seems to be fair for cheaper capital but have a good potential project so maybe he needs to answer us all here now for what he have invested.

Seems these are new altcoins what op aiming to buy or it could be Op promoting these altcoins among us. But in this thread, he didn't write enough about what we want. That's why most of people suggesting him potential altcoins like Eth bnb sol or others. I also would love to heard about his statement about his investee altcoins list but currently i don't know these altcoins what op shared

Among the three coins you mentioned Ethereum and BNB are the best coins, they are at the top of the market and these altcoins are good. Solana is seeing some growth which is why investors are picking up this coin along with Ethereum and BNB these currencies are at the top of the list.
