I don't find one over the other because I see people addicted to casino games as well as poker where they bet against other player,s not against the house, and sports betting is no exception to it, and the classic example is horse race betting which is in practice for very long and I remember rich guys in the 90's went broke because they were obsessed with horse race betting.

IMO, there is no need to differentiate too much about the form of gambling, but social trends will partly reflect how gamblers play.
