I'm Starting To Believe The Notion That The Average Nigerian Man Is Angry

One could begin with the prickly heat caused by our ridiculously hot weather, the congested roads along the market caused by roadside traders putting their tables and sampling goods on the walkway meant for pedestrians. One might even begin with the bad roads poorly constructed by some greedy contractors. Or the constant regression of our economy that has caused the inflation of goods and made cost of living astronomically high, and standard of living unbearable for most citizens.
 Say you just put on your dress and decide you want to get something from the market place, even from the keke or motorcycle you take to the bus stop, you start experiencing the anger of fellow citizens, with the keke driver shouting and uttering words like ''madam do fast enter, if you no wan enter, you commot make anoda pesin enter" even if you just hesitated for a second before climbing on. Then when you finally make it to the bus stop, you still have to put up with rude conductors and the ill-mannered drivers piloting the buses taking you to your destination.
  Sometimes, it happens when you exit the bus, you'd have to shout before the conductor gives your complete change, and as the bus zooms off, the conductor angrily mutters curses and insults at you. Now, you're down from the bus, on the market horizon moving about to find what's scribbled on your list, you have to walk gingerly to avoid people stepping on you and then raining insults on you instead of an apology. Even when someone bumps into you, instead of a sorry, what you'll hear is "you no dey watch where you dey go?!                   
  Going further into the nooks and crannies of the market place that are clamped and very tight with little room to pass, you probably start to sweat. Even when you ask for the prices of items you'd like to buy and try to haggle as usual, some of them still respond rudely to you as if you are the cause of their current hardship. You know, I vividly remember few years back when I was unaware of where I was going, I politely stopped a passer by to ask for directions, instead of him to help, he looked at me angrily, hissed and walked away. That was when I remembered what my teacher in secondary school told me is true, that the average Nigerian man is angry. Nowadays, everybody is just angry, people are frustrated. Nigerians barely get enough sleep and still wake up everyday thinking of how to feed and get even the most essential of things. For example, someone will toil, go through a day's stress, hustle to see if he/she can make ends meet, then the nigerian police or even sars will come from nowhere with their own wahala. Not to even talk of going home to face NEPA wahala and having to sleep through a hot night frustrated and uncomfortable.
   In conclusion, our leaders are to blame for our situation and our predicament. Because a poorly run system leads to hiccups, and hiccups lead to frustration, and frustration then leads to anger.

I swear guy! How many families for Nigeria dey drink tea and bread. Not to even mention say people no dey too chop three-square meals again. Now, let's say dem dey pay you minimum wage which is around #30,000 per month. With the insane cost of transport fares, the #30,000 fit even finish on transport. The reality is that things are just hard. The one wet dey annoy me na the standard of living, e dey very poor — people dey live in dreadful conditions, people dey suffer. Even perfume/deodorant don cost sef. And it jus keeps getting worse.

Can we really point at anything that is really working in this country that you will say if I get to this place now I will have peace of mind?

It's a serious situation we've found ourselves and the high rate of angry individual we have on the street is the reason why once you see two people exchanging small argument, the next thing you see is the use of violence and weapons to satrb themselves and most of them are not just angry with what the person they starbed did to them but the accumulation of their frustration will make them take any rash decision at that moment.

Actually, the average Nigerian isn't truly happy with the way things are going in the country the only thing that has aided in reducing our stress and anxiety is social media and content creators because going through social media and seeing some funny posts and clips tends to put some smile and relief in our lives regardless of what every individual is going through and this anger is general because no body is actually Happy with the state of the economy and the high cost of goods, services and commodities.

I don't actually put the predicament people are going through on the government alone because as an individual or a citizen of any country, each one of us also have some important roles to play towards the well being of the society like for example lemme talk about the environment, a lot of people don't actually care about the safety of the environment at all without knowing that a healthy environment also brings about good health to people, you see like in the market, some market women dumps waste anyhow and even litter the market but yet they would leave it that way and still be doing their trading then you see everywhere smelling like there are some areas you would go in the market that the odour coming out from such area is terrible like you can't even breathe, so you expect the government to also come and pick up dumps from inside the market? Though we know that it's part of the duty of the government to make sure that our environment is clean and safe but it is also own duty to assist them in making sure that our surroundings are neat everyday.

The most unkindest growth is that whatever thing that the price increases in this country, it will be very hard for it to go down again which is a very bad mentality of people. Whenever there is a hike in price of goods and services and afterwards the price comes down you will see that hardly will people accept the price when it comes down.

Due to the intensity of things we're facing in this country, it now looks as if people are mentally unstable and they easily transfers aggression to other people simply because they ain't happy at that material time. We should learn to make things easier for us in the sense that we should not always judge the government all the time as we have individual roles to play in other to make the society a better place for all

OP, more than half of Nigerian population is angry for different reason or the other, that shouldn't be a surprise to anybody, this is expected, why won't one be angry, when governance has turn to persecution, there is unforeseen turbulence in this country, is just that Nigerians are very peaceful despite that the government has pushed us to the wall we keep adapting to every situation we found ourself, it is very shameful to be called a Nigerian because of the rulers of the day, how will citizen who are ready to give their best to the society continue to wallow in hardship when the government have all it takes to create enabling environment for foreign and domestic investors for the people to be accommodate in the said space, the sadness in Nigerians heart is becoming unbearable and swift action should be taken to avert the looming danger ahead.
