Good thing you listened. And you will never regret because you are one step ahead of any crypto scams or marlware. However, always stay alert for possible phishing attempts, make sure your software comes from trustworthy places, and protect your mobile device if you connect via Bluetooth. This is because even though hardware wallets provide robust security, it's important to remain watchful to protect your Bitcoin holdings. Kudos on the journey

You can use it with Electrum, and it is a good idea, as Electrum has more features to allow better control of your private keys and your bitcoin

I don’t know much about this hardware wallet but here is a thread by dkbit98 on this particular Keystone 3 pro hardware wallet you can simply ask your question there.

In the upgrade of firmware I think both the usb and SD card are same, if you’re insinuating on catching any malware, make to use an old offline device at least. But AFAIK the private key which is the most important thing stored on the hardware wallet is not transferred when the card or USB is plugged in.

Another advice is, do not rely totally on this hardware wallet device, make sure to back up your seed phrase in case there is loss or damage to the device most especially since it is a touch screen sensitive a fall could cause its damage, but with your seed phrase backed up properly (best offline) you can recover the wallet on another device.

Yes, in order to improve security, software wallets can be linked to hardware wallets. The two wallets work well together to secure your assets and keys, and some software wallet providers suggest using their products in addition to hardware wallets for optimal security. Read quote below

Quote
Luckily, even when you must use a software wallet, you can combine it with a hardware wallet to experience the best of both worlds. While the software wallet provides you access to the platform you want, your hardware wallet can protect your private keys and sign transactions offline. This way, you can easily access apps and services with the confidence your private keys are secure.

You can read more about software and hardware wallets and their connections here and here

This is a bold step you have taken without being lazy on affording the little amount of getting one could cost, hardware wallet is one of the best ways to make use of a cold storage for our own benefits, just make sure you give it a proper handling and also avoid any form of damage on using it, no third party should have access to it and always keep it safe, now you may less use the exchange wallet.

I have few questions still, I want to know if connecting software wallet to your hardware wallet gives it the security as intended? If I start using software wallet on my hardware wallet does it add more to it's security? Or it's a bad idea?

Why not, you can make use of electrum wallet in doing this, it allows for more security and privacy defence practice tight when both were liked or connectd together.

~snip~
What other things I need to look out for using my keynote hardware wallet?

What's positive about this HW is that the hardware and software are open source (so they claim on the official website), and that's certainly a good thing for anyone who doesn't want any surprises and some hidden features. What is most important for every HW is that it can create a seed in an offline environment, and that it can protect the user from clipboard malware in such a way that every user can always compare the addresses on the HW with the one in the user interface.

What every user needs to pay the most attention to is actually the backup, which means that it is saved safely (not online or on a PC/smartphone), and preferably in more than one copy if possible in at least two different locations.

You can connect your hardware wallet to your software wallet as long as YOU DO NOT IMPORT YOUR 12-24 BACKUP PHRASE TO ANY WALLET BESIDES YOUR PHYSICAL HARDWARE WALLET.

This is a good think you have buy and I always prefer users to buy the hardware and keep the hardware wallet in order to save themselves from the attack and from the software's even now a days there are many software's present through which users can take away the money for example the malicious software. Even though there should be very careful in all these while you are going to connect the wallet somewhere in which area you want to transfer some files.

I'm personally using they wallet but it didn't creates problem for me till now because its security is up class and still I have suggested to my friends which are here and they are also using it because we are in crypto from more times and without this wallet there is more risk that may be the wallet in the mobile got hacked and we have already face these hacking problems many times before.

Thanks for your replies guys, the hardware wallet came with extra MasterCard like card where I can safely write down my recovery seed and keep somewhere safe, I thought it was not necessary until I read some replies on here, it's possible that damages can happen to the hardware wallet and my recovery seed is the only way I can get access to my funds again, acknowledged, thanks for the advice.

Having a backup recovery seed is always a smart idea when it comes to cryptocurrency wallets, no matter what kind you use, and don't ever think that it's unnecessary.  Even hardware wallets, which are seen as very secure, can fail or get lost or stolen and  and if that happens but you don't have your recovery seed written down somewhere safe say bye-bye to your crypto funds.

So do yourself a favor - take the few minutes it'll take to carefully write out your wallet recovery seed words and stash them somewhere secure like a safe deposit box.  That way if something happens to your hardware wallet device, you've still got access to your assets.  Dont take risks here - it's just not worth it.

First of all congratulations for getting your hardware wallet. It is next step to the safety of your assets and now you can hold any amount without any hacking tention but you should follow all necessary step recommended by many members (no need to repeat)

Besides card you should also written in 2-3 places and keep it safe anywhere. You shouldn't rely on only one hard phrase as the chances of listing is high. When You have 2-3 copies then I hope you will not lost even if you completely forget your wallet for some years.

You can't install any software wallet on your device, you can only connect them for transaction and address confirmation.
It's impossible to use your device without any software wallet.

What other things I need to look out for using my keynote hardware wallet?
What the heck is keynote hardware wallet?
Maybe you mean Keystone Pro 3  or something else??

As for the firmware update, I have two options, one through SD card and the second through USB connection, which one do you think is better and safer upgrade way?
USB firmware update is faster, with SD card it is slower but more secure because there is no internet connection.

It is necessary to keep card as that's where you'll write your recovery words but if you prefer to write it somewhere else, it is your preference.
But with that card, it's actually sturdy as long as kept properly and won't get crumpled. So, it depends on how you keep it and I'll say it just as the others have told it.
Congrats!

Thanks for the advice, I do keep the card in between a metal case, I got it from a friend and I knew it can be useful some day, and I keep the case in a safe location with lock key combination, the only issue that I am facing with the wallet currently, is the lack of supported chains, only popular coins can be kept on this wallet.

I visited their web page again and they promise to add many new block chains soon.

I have few questions still, I want to know if connecting software wallet to your hardware wallet gives it the security as intended? If I start using software wallet on my hardware wallet does it add more to it's security? Or it's a bad idea?

The pairing your hardware wallet with software client is quite secure providing the latter is not compromized otherwise it may replace the destination address in your transaction which has to be signed by your HW.

Thus, don't trust any software client and check all transaction's details  (shown on HW display)  before signing.

Congratulations, Nice to see that you have taken a good decision. I wish I could also use a hardware wallet, it is risky for me to import/buy because all equipment's and cryptocurrencies are illegal in my country. Anyway hope your holding journey will success.
But always care about those phisingattacker Wink

What other things I need to look out for using my keynote hardware wallet?

As for the firmware update, I have two options, one through SD card and the second through USB connection, which one do you think is better and safer upgrade way?
If you're using the latest firmware, it's worth noting that recently, they introduced the "Checksum Verification feature" for the "microSD card route", so before you start using your hardware wallet, make sure everything matches.
Note: There are two sha256 hashes [a) Firmware b) File].

the only issue that I am facing with the wallet currently, is the lack of supported chains, only popular coins can be kept on this wallet.

I visited their web page again and they promise to add many new block chains soon.
Be careful what you wish for [having more support for other blockchains also means having a larger attack surface]!
