Sorry if this is dumb, but I have been searching and I can't seem to find an official announcement thread for marinecoin. Is there one? Can someone provide a link to it?

I have not yet announced Marinecoin on ANN bitcointalk.org officially yet.  Marinecoin was announced on many other mining and altcoin threads and actively promoted from day 1. The announcement on ANN will be in the future. There are reasons for that, mostly I did not want Marinecoin's ANN thread's first comments be populated by slanderers who did not give the benefit of the doubt and take the time to try to understand it. There will be a time for that.

Well that does make sense I suppose. A lot of ANN threads are plagued by what you described... look at Rubycoin and Mintcoin, both of which I think are decent coins by the way, but what I am saying is their ANN threads are rife with page after page of meaningless posts by trolls and idiots that aren't contributing any real substance to a discussion about the coin.
