Bitcoin might become unpopular or it might be replaced with a better technology, but the blockchain will still run on someones computer. (Just look at retro console and arcade games that are still availlable after all of these years)

It is a decentralised digital currency accepted globally as a store of value or medium of exchange. Maybe he don't have any reason to talk about in mind and just post about something simple which is possible to happen since as we can obviously see there's nothing permanent in the world and what we think famous now maybe out in the business later on that's why bitcoin need a lot of boost especially on legal side like make it a legal tender so the chance of being extinct will be less. That could be one contributes for its extinction but its impossible to happen since internet is so useful to all of us. But if this became a threat to financial system and government will tag or describe it as illegal currency which is used by criminals on their financial crimes then this could stir up everything and might we see bitcoin extinct for that reason since for sure powerful countries can influence other one so provably this thinking could possibly happen. Can you elaborate on extinct though, you could probably meant no more bitcoins to mine which the answer would be yes, bitcoin could go extinct in a way where miners don't have any bitcoins to mine or you could be talking about bitcoin burning but that's impossible because bitcoin has value and there's not a lot of people that are invested into bitcoin that's willing to part with their bitcoin just for the bitcoin to be burned, although it does help with the pumping in price because there's less and less bitcoin in circulation, you can't really make everyone burn their bitcoin. Another definition of bitcoin extinction that I can think of is probably from the fact that it's life is tied to how long is the survival of the humans in this planet, if we are gone then there's no one that will ever utilize bitcoin because with no one maintaining the power, everything that relies on it including bitcoin will eventually fade out so yes, there's a chance that bitcoin can go extinct but don't worry too much about it because humanity is so obsessed with survival so I don't think that we'll ever see ourselves going extinct, maybe it's not even in our lifetime.

The way I understand it (and I double-checked in some dictionaries), the term 'extinction' is used when talking about a group of beings (a species, for instance) that is dying and may stop existing. Bitcoin isn't alive, and Bitcoin isn't a type, species or anything like that, so it cannot go extinct by definition.
If you are referring to Bitcoin no longer being around, I suppose it can happen if the Internet collapses and human civilization experiences a major technological downfall. Or, alternatively, Bitcoin can potentially be rendered useless (although probably not non-existent) by technological advances in something like quantum computing.
However, if we're talking about the foreseeable future, I agree with others who say that it's highly unlikely that Bitcoin will stop existing.

That's a very odd question because it's impossible to predict whether bitcoin remains dominant cryptocurrency, steps down or goes totally extinct. I would say that that's entirely possible one day, things come and go, things also improve. Since Bitcoin is agile, i.e. we can change the code, it gives us the flexibility to adapt new trends and meet new demands. If we remain progressive instead of being conservative, I think we will keep Bitcoin as a dominant currency but it's still not easy to predict the future of this currency because of the so ever-changing world. At the moment, it stays strong.
