Help on "Signet"

I'm  a newbie though with little knowledge (basic knowledge) about crypto.
Recently I've been try to expand   my knowledge in BTC among which I checked out mempool, I came across  the word "signet" and I'm a little  bit confused on it function

The signet is called signature network in full its is more like an advanced form of the testnet although they are similar, think of it more like an advanced fork of the testnet for developers to test some features without actually staking really Bitcoins.

Signet is used by developers. Signet is different because it is not using PoW as its algorithm but using digital signature to validate blocks. If you are not a bitcoin developer, you do not need to know about it. What you should know about is the mainnet and using testnet for practice to know how bitcoin wallet and how bitcoin transactions are.

I went through the link and saw it's more like testnet but I heard devs use testnet too I couldn't figure out the major difference though but I might dive into some dev as I have little knowledge in coding maybe it will be a future challenge to learn more about how Bitcoin works .

I am sure you can trace it on mempool by searching for the transaction id or by searching using the wallet address. This is an example where it shows a transaction from a certain wallet address to another wallet address https://mempool.space/testnet/tx/ee4128df049a1cd7d1c8d2f63a3da691a325a5ec9f0d8c6c4a60ba492acf8112. You can also do the same in mainnet network and as you can see the coins have no value as it is what devs use to test features and more. Not sure if this is working but after some little bit research this is what I found https://cryptopump.info/ which is a testnet faucets and as I said, I am not sure if it's working because I didn't tested it and didn't want to since it's not necessary for me to do so because I don't need it but other people might need it.

I used https://coinfaucet.eu/en/btc-testnet/ a few times in the past when I needed small amounts of Testnet bitcoins. The site seems currently overloaded, whatever that means. There are a few other still working Testnet coin faucets out there, a Google search should find them but I haven't tried any for quite some time. You may try this one: https://kuttler.eu/en/bitcoin/btc/faucet/

You can also politely ask @mocacinno directly for some Testnet crumbles (see his thread Testnet Faucet).

Oh My bad, I thought testnet and signet is almost the same. Cause I requested a testnet for an open campaign.

Can I ask if the testnet can be converted into signet or theres a bridge something like that? I am using okx wallet for the signet and testnet as its necessary for the campaign I would join.

Signet and Testnet are completely different networks. You would have to create a new wallet on Signet and get Signet coins separately. You cannot connect Testnet to Signet.

Yeah thanks for the heads up. It seems I cannot get from signet faucets right now, and better ask some help from anyone who have some signet. But thanks for mentioning it. I am just confuse cause Im nit familiar with the bitcoin testnet, Im more like an altcoin testnet which some can be bridge even its testnet tokens.

i've encountered a similar issue; it appears that the RPC for the Signet faucet is currently depleted, and Signet itself cannot be obtained through proof of work. Is there a way to contact the mining nodes? I'm looking to acquire some Signet bitcoins rn

thanks i made a request and i got it immediately i was wondering if there was a bot that extracted the id in a min  because i got it so fast . Thanks for the help

What is it that you don't understand looking at https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/blob/master/contrib/signet/README.md?

OK, OK, I haven't tried it myself yet because I didn't need to do but from a short glimpse over the document it doesn't seem to be any rocket science.

With a little search here in the forum or elsewhere (I'm not going to do that for you), I'm pretty confident that you could find more or less step-by-step instructions how to "mine" Signet bitcoins yourself. BTW, current Signet block subsidy is still 50 sBTC per block...

Do you mean the default SigNet faucet in "getcoins.py" script in ".../master/contrib/signet/"?
Did it return with error?

Anyways, it seems to be working if you manually go to the website (without the "/claim") and request coins there,
although there'll be a huge delay between the queue and actual transaction, perhaps the script already put you to the queue.

I wont link the page so that it wont get too many unnecessary requests but you can check the link in Bitcoin's Repo: /master/contrib/signet/getcoins.py.
