You can use Coingecko or Coinmarketcap. But I often use the exchanges to track the price but using Coingecko and Coinmarketcap to check other information like all-time-high and exchanges the coin is trading. But if it is just bitcoin, its information is available everywhere. I even once a time have an app that directly display the price of bitcoin for me which I can see on a widget every time on my device anytime I open my device. On PC, I have an extension for it so that anytime I open my browser, I see the price immediately.

If it is daily, you can use Coinmarketcap, Coingecko like some posters recommended and you can bookmark those pages for Bitcoin price tracking on daily basis. You can bookmark pages of other cryptocurrencies too and don't have to open many tabs and let your device in hypernate mode day by day.

You can use Trading View.

You could bookmark those website to bookmark toolbar and configure your browser to show that toolbar.

What do you recommend for a linux user?

If you strongly prefer desktop application, how about https://dawidm.github.io/cryptonose2/? But it's been 2 years since it's last updated and i don't know other application (for Linux) which still in development.

I like Coingecko because it's fast, accurate, and has a lot of useful info you can focus on, such as 24-hour trading volume and price changes over 1 hour, 1 day, and 7 days. There's also information about exchanges and trading pair, as well as filters to focus on specific time periods on the price charts. I play with those features from time to time, and I consult this info before making posts about historical dynamics of the price movements to make sure I get it right. But honestly, I think monitoring daily crypto movements in a hope of getting higher profits is a waste of time. They're just too volatile, and there's no use in trying to find patterns there.

i just mainly use the exchanges i have and check the coins i hold there and how the market is moving but if i want to check out a new coin and would want to observe its market then i use coinmarketcap

it also gives off a lot of other information which is helpful when i am considering in investing in that specific coin

I really don't like the idea of monitoring the coins I hold cause I could get tempted to sell, unless maybe a new coin that caught my eye and I'm trying to find out more about.

I Normally use the exchange where I buy my coins from to check prices but for detailed information I use coingecko or coinmarketcap especially when I want to get more useful information about a coin I want to invest in like thier daily trading volume, all time high and even their total supply so I can make more informed decisions before investing.

I dont always monitor the market...
And it is probably for the best because of the pressure that constant monitoring of the market can put on an investor. An investor who regularly monitors the market will regularly experience mood swings coupled with emotional disturbance from fear, uncertainty and doubt.

As much as it is good to monitor the market, It is not always advisable to always monitor the markets if you are not emotionally capable.

I don't usually track the movement of the market because I don't trade? because I know a few people who check the market movement from time to time because of their trading and I only have a specific date and schedule set for checking the market movement, but my investment in bitcoin, I check it daily in my wallet for security purposes. The site I use to check the market value movement is Coingecko and Binance, it's faster and updated there every time I check the current price.

Most times i Use browser and a website with charts, but sometimes its hard to find the tab.

What do you recommend for a linux user?

Are you familiar with Tradingview? That's one of the best platform that can provide you with good charts, tools and  indicators for following up crypto in real time. As long as that coin is listed and trading on any exchange, they do have any pairs it is been traded with and in addition, you get to do paper trading with Tradingview, more like demo but it's more flexible to used and offer more tools for mapping out your charts, support and resistance, trend lines, fibonaci and many more basic set up tools for trading, they also have the premium tools but I think you are good with the normal features.

You can also coingecko and coin market to follow up some coins since they are fundamentals of crypto projects, you should have access to some news, more about the coins especially the tokenomics, the exchanges and many more about the coin but there charts are too classic for trading, tradingview should help you out with those features.

What do you recommend for a linux user?
I know you specifically mentioned recommendations for a Linux user however I think that the UI is no different from that of Windows. Do you use a big or small screen?

I also noticed that you did not mention the name of the website with charts that you use.

Since you asked for a app recommendation, I will tell you to try CoinGecko.

Why I want you to give it a trial is because of its a free public API. The benefits of this free API unlike the other platforms is that free access to their wide range of crypto data from the market. There are no fees to using it.

Let me know if this is what you were looking for exactly.

It doesn't matter what type of OS you use because if you're into desktop then all of the websites are just the same dynamics regardless of the OS you use.

As mentioned, it's either the common ones like coinmarketcap and coingecko plus with the help of tradingview. I think with these, you're already good checking the charts and able to monitor the market.

If you're for your portfolio, most wallets just give that update real time on how much you've gained or loss and as well as the winners of the daily market.

honestly coinmarketcap is already sufficient enough because it have the most accurate data there is though sometime for coin that got newly listed in CMC the data sometime might be inaccurate because from the exchange side they are just starting to gather data but overall its very good tool.

but if you want accuracy you should just use the exchange app with the biggest volume anyway since usually they are the most accurate price wise and their accuracy is as detailed as the current latest second buy or sell order.
therefore you wanna use that data there if you are trading in fast paced manner.

but so far if you are investor that invest in a quite long time frame i think CMC is already good enough for your needs.
other alternative might be as many have mentioned coingecko.

This is true, but it does pay to spot huge increases, and without looking, you will never know.
as I hoard coins, I dont intend to sell, so I guess the sell-anxiety just doesn't register for me.

Most times i Use browser and a website with charts, but sometimes its hard to find the tab.

What do you recommend for a linux user?
I know you specifically mentioned recommendations for a Linux user however I think that the UI is no different from that of Windows. Do you use a big or small screen?

I mentioned linux because different programs exist, charts are not just available on the browser, something most take for granted.

Checking the movement regularly only creates panic which leads us to take wrong decision but we can just keep an eye on it once in a while I have set some alerts on my target price on both positive and negative trend. I have been using Coingecko and Coinmarketcap for a very long time but coinmarketcap is slightly slower than Coingecko.

Both of these are good hence you can use either of them, I use them along with tradingview which helps me for scalping and trading view provides you the chart for all the asset be it crypto, stocks or any asset.

I keep tabs on cryptocurrency prices using different methods. I use exchanges for instant updates and websites like Coingecko or Coinmarketcap for more details. Bitcoin's info is everywhere, and I have apps on my phone and browser extensions on my computer to check its price easily.

When it comes to monitoring price movements then coingecko or coinmarketcap would be the fastest way on checking it out but
if you are on such trading session then the chart itself would really be that enough but of course not all coins listed on an exchange then this is where CG and CMC would really be relevant.

When it comes to fundamentals then coindesk or cointelegraph. When it comes to TG groups then whalealerts ive been using up.
When it comes to portfolio tracking then blockfolio or in built or integrated portfolio you do have on an exchange would suffice or enough.

And since im not really that a day or scalper trader then im not really that too active on monitoring it, unless if there would really be some news
then i might consider on checking it out.

Well, I used two websites that I monitor the movement or price of a specific cryptocurrency, which are Coinbase and Coingecko. The reason for me to have two different websites is because, as you will notice, not all websites have syncing, meaning there is a slight delay in the actual price of, for example, bitcoin. That's why I use them both in order to compare the actual or real-time price of a specific currency. And because they have two different features and I want to have a backup website in case I can't access the other website, knowing or using the right and trusted cryptomonito website is very important to us, especially for those traders, so we can come up with a strategy and also be convenient. I used some other websites, but these are the ones that I'm most comfortable using, so yeah, if you are interested, just visit the website I have mentioned.

Isn't this what most traders are doing? Most especially if they are professionals. Any small movements that occur even after every second are too important or can mean a lot to them. They panic in a way that they make proper actions according to what they saw. If you are not good enough yet, maybe you can panic and made wrong decisions but this can still be improved as long as you are also willing.

CMC is slower because there are now lots of new features that they have added which I think unnecessary. It only makes us to not use them more, because even before, many thinks that Coingecko is more fairer than them. Other than Coingecko, there is also Tradingview which works great too.

i always use coinmarketcap to monitor the movement of bitcoin and several other altcoins that i invest in. i think that coinmarketcap is a credible, trustworthy and reliable platform for just looking at price movements or doing in-depth analysis on charts. the cool thing is that this platform doesn't charge fees and you can monitor several tokens at once from the browser and it's quite easy to use. so i recommend coinmarketcap to be the best choice for crypto traders.

Just follow what the previous commenters on your post said, op, because everything they said in their post in this section is correct, and I don't want to repeat what they mentioned.
Just good luck with your monitoring, and may you get good earnings here in the crypto space.

Then it must be different because you yourself also conduct your own research on platforms so that you can monitor what is happening with altcoins in the market.

Honestly I have always found TradingView and CMC to be enough for me. If it is something simple, like checking the price of something then I use coinmarketcap and I have everything I need there, not like I am doing anything advanced there, I am just checking the price, or maybe even daily movement or so, it doesn't really matter, even the volume could be found there, it has plenty of information for me to check.

However, if I am about to make an investment, then TradingView is all I need, I can go there and check the charts and even check every indicator there and see what it is about to do, sometimes I do have a guess and make a play on it and I may win or lose, sometimes I do not see any clear weather so I just stay out.

Tradingview is an application that I use every day to monitor crypto market movements. This is equipped with many indicators that help me to carry out analysis at once so that I can know where the market movement will occur. I am a premium Tradingview user and it is very helpful in doing all kinds of things related to crypto markets and monitoring. don't use other applications and only use this one application and it is very complete.

It's always more convenient and advised to use the platforms and use manual techniques to have a deep research on the project you want to. Applications like coin market cap , coin gecko etc can help you to understand the trends and the performance of the project in the past but it's not convenient to use them.

As you will depend more on the apps you will lose the habit of researching yourself and relying on these applications is harmful for your learning process. Continuing to learn and sideways earn is the best technique to develop so that you can have a bright Future having less chances of losses.

What do you recommend for a linux user?
Since you are a linux user, I assume that you take your privacy more seriously and you don't use decentralized exchanges but Binance is really good to monitor things. You can register on Binance and use what you need without submitting KYC documents. When you register on Binance, you can add coins and their pairs in your favourites to track them easily. You can also set alarm on pairs and receive alert when price goes up and down, you can customize alert very well, for example, you can set an alarm for 10% rise or 5% fall and etc...

There are more than we can think of, and since they all show the price I do not think is important to have all the apps to track down the market, and I think the ones that have been used for a very long time are coingecko and coinmarketcap and they can even update you whenever there is an increase in any of the coin in your portfolio. As for the delay, I don't think have experienced that since I work mostly with the notification they give, and since I do more holding than trading those doing trading are the ones that are supposed to have concern for the market very well and there is a limit set so if it gets to your price of target then it can automatically sell for itself. it is of lesser value to use those apps every time. and if you can not access the two apps google is always there to also update you on the current price of bitcoin. does doing serious trading will need to have those apps for analysis and also monitoring of the price. either way, it is still important for others.
