Define "die".  Monero is currently operating more efficiently than ever before.  It truly offers privacy and is easy to use.  Grin presents a nice concept, although it falls slightly short in terms of privacy compared to Monero, it compensates with significantly improved scalability.  Personally, I pay with XMR my grocery shopping, and I'm certain it receives acknowledgment from other crypto enthusiasts as well.  The fact that rich aren't investing in it doesn't diminish its attention.  It still captures attention, quietly.  It's just not the top store-of-value asset, that's all.

We shall not forget the purpose of cryptocurrency.

Slowly but surely fade into irrelevancy(but not total irrelevancy, because DN markets still use it).

How are you able to pay your groceries with XMR by the way? I doubt any grocery store natively accepts XMR(except a few here and there).

No disrespect to Satoshi but Bitcoin will be whatever people want to use it for; and so far — at least for now knowing we don't have a decent layer-2 yet, it's mostly for investment purposes.

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Slowly but surely fade into irrelevancy(but not total irrelevancy, because DN markets still use it).

Or genuine, completely legal places like grocery stores.  Unless you suspect groceries are somehow avoiding taxes.  I don't know about that, tbh!  Tongue

How are you able to pay your groceries with XMR by the way? I doubt any grocery store natively accepts XMR(except a few here and there).

None directly accepts it, but you can acquire gift cards online, and a handful of places offer them in exchange for cryptocurrency.  One example is FreshToHome

No disrespect to Satoshi but Bitcoin will be whatever people want to use it for

I believe we all agree that for us to possess the liberty to utilize it as we see fit, it must primarily function as peer-to-peer cash, even if the majority would still prefer using traditional fiat currencies for transactions.  To put it this way.  If you can't do peer-to-peer transactions, then it lacks the essential characteristic of being a reliable store of value and, to a large extent, ceases to be considered an investment.

Everyone who tried to support Grin lost their ass and probably wondered why the forum tried to support it in the first place. I’m guessing we won’t see the forum pick and choose shitcoins for the members here to get fleeced by again. Just my thoughts… I still wonder what connection Grin developers had with the forum that got them such one of a kind support.
I remember grin coin from theymos, he was super excited about it and I really thought at some point that if bitcointalk's administrator is so excited about the grin project, then this might be a good coin to invest but it definitely isn't and never was. It's #1286 on Coinmarketcap.

Even those with good technical fundamentals like Monero/Grin will simply just slowly but surely die in terms of attention.
Because the privacy is not a priority for many people. NFTs and similar bullshit are more popular and attractive for people compared to coins that protect their privacy.

What are the chances of grin being used as a payment method again on the bitcointalk forum?
Grin won't be used as a payment method again and to be fair, I hope that forum will not accept any similar, barely known altcoins.
