Hi,

I am in a dilema here. I have a friend I met online we have been chatting for some time. We talked about crypto and he was telling me about automatic trading and stuff and I wanted to give it a go, I said 100$ will be ok for starters. Now after one week I was due to withdraw and they want me to send them payment as in handling fee. The site is exmocryptoexchange.com, has anyone heard of them or am I getting scammed?

I haven't heard of them. Just know that you have been scammed. Any crypto trading platform that asks for payment as a condition to withdrawal of your funds is a scam crypto trading platform. Your friend has don you dirty for not being opened and straightforward with it. Secondly you did yourself dirty by listening and trusting your friend 100% without doing your due diligence.

There is a lesson to learn from this -Do your own research because if you don't you will wish you had.

That's what I thought at the beginning. It's too good to be true, I got 10,609.00$ from 100.00$ in one week. I said okay If I lose another 100$ no big deal, but they are asking for more all the time.

Do not use exchanges that are not trustworthy. These are lists of exchanges that you can use:

https://www.coingecko.com/en/exchanges
https://www.coingecko.com/en/exchanges/derivatives
https://www.coingecko.com/en/exchanges/decentralized

You can also see their trust score.

There are many exchanges that make use of bots.

if you thought it was too good to be true you should not have deposited $100. there are a lot of scammers looking for victims online. I am curious as to what made you decide to actually give in and deposit money on their website.

if they continue contacting you and trying to convince you to deposit more or pay the "handling fee" just ignore them, you'll get scammed again if you send them any money.

anyway, at least you didn't lose more money, there have been victims who posted here in the forum saying that they lost thousands of dollars to this type of scam.

It's a scam exchange. It's good to know that you have got it already figured out when you saw that the so-called profits were too good to true. I don't know why people keep trusting some random internet strangers for investment advice. The truth is that most of them are just scammers.

Money is not made that way. Turning $100 to $10,000 with in a week without breaking a sweat? If this was possible, most of us would be rich by now.

Hi,

I am in a dilema here. I have a friend I met online we have been chatting for some time. We talked about crypto and he was telling me about automatic trading and stuff
I am curious what website you meet this friend. I smell something fishy that don't tell me you're into these websites like OF or dating apps?

I wanted to give it a go, I said 100$ will be ok for starters. Now after one week I was due to withdraw and they want me to send them payment as in handling fee. The site is exmocryptoexchange.com, has anyone heard of them or am I getting scammed?
It's a scam and that's why I want to know where did you meet this scammer. It's an obvious scam when that person mentioned you a certain platform where you should deposit your money. And upon making some things to show that you're winning with your trades and an increase in the amount of money you've got, they want you to deposit. That's the next scam that they want you to bite and, there's no way to get your money back. The name of the exchange itself is sketchy.

Your friend's lack of experience and failure to research led you to this scam. He seems to have been deceived through the reviews and experiences of fake users on this platform and the unreasonable ROI profit that they achieved. Also, all the information and texts in this exchange are plagiarized from other domains. They have uploaded images of their mobile application, but no apps are listed on Google Play or the App Store. Moreover, they have a childish logo, and they don't have any social media accounts except an Instagram account with private content. Also, their domain is only 327 days old, and there are no reviews about this exchange in search engines. It seems they created this domain to mimic and approximate the official EXMO platform's domain, which also doesn't seem trustworthy. So, once again, do not deposit funds into any unknown and unrated platforms, and do not rely on advice or recommendations from anyone, no matter who they are.

Me I think the other way, according to the Op, was to just meet the friend online they had not seen before, and all they did after linking up online was talk about crypto currency and how to invest in it. My take on this is that the friend is the owner of that scam website.

He lured him into it to make an investment on it and flash him with some high profit, which is too good to be true, and he expects to ask the Op for more money immediately the trading time he gives him elapses. That's when he will ask him for other forms of payment, and if the Op has not brought this to the forum, he will continue falling prey to the scammers plan until he has nothing left to send.

@camo22, this thread[1] seems to be like what you've experienced.

am I getting scammed?
Without any doubt, big YES. So don't you bet on that chat and don't buy on the good conversation that has been given to you.

...And The friend I was talking to said he has been trading with them for some time and I thought I'd give it a go. ..

You can't call all those people you met online a friend. Obviously, his real purpose in getting to know you was precisely to persuade you to invest in this project. And as we can see, he succeeded. Stop communicating with them and don't try to get your $100 back, otherwise you will lose even more money.
