The story from the OP made me realize that in cyberspace, there are also many people who change the concept of bitcoin to take advantage of people's trust to achieve their purposes.

Perhaps the legal issues in this field are really vague, causing many people to abuse it and exaggerate stories about making easy money, as well as not being subject to too much pressure from law enforcement agencies.

There are huge stories like the collapse of a certain exchange and leaving billions of dollars of investors unrecoverable, so the question is risk tolerance and also measures to prevent it for a clean environment. But honestly, everything will be very peaceful until a major incident appears, after all it is a part of life, where we discriminate against ourselves without relying on the core of equality, while those who are supposed to have the ability to gain our trust are never responsible enough to complete their work well. Perhaps through the lessons of fraud, we will have a more comprehensive view of the field and everything originates from each of us.

Scam over the internet is not really a new topic, but what made you shock is that someone who thought that you knew turned out to be a scammer, I can't blame bitcoin for his activity, when there are times there is no Bitcoin by that time what people used for scam? The centralized banking system right?

I am also not denying that scammers may have used bitcoin mixing services for clearing their trails still it is possible to track down in some way but privacy is someone's right and now governments are going after is a threat to everyone not just scammers.

I agree, what people need to understand is BTC and its privacy solutions are tools, just the way the internet is a tool, and people are going to use it both for good and bad. However we do not hear people asking for the internet to be banned, the way they want mixers and CoinJoin to be banned and for people not to use BTC privately. The sad part in all of this is that it is impossible to fight the government, so i don't think BTC privacy solutions will survive in a few years from now.

Many people are criminals in disguise and they are ruining bitcoin name by scamming people using Bitcoin as if it is a safe pass to scam people for free and get away with it, so no wonder that the government hates Mixers and privacy in this space, who is to be blame if not for our people who are criminals in disguise?

The world can never be a better place for scammers because they see opportunity to swindle people their money when they get the chance but you are talking about Bitcoin because you see it and it's been discussed, do you know the magnitude of fiat scams that is happening every day? Do you know how terrorism is been funded with fiat? Do you know how many fiat that is been stolen under the government every day? You don't see them because the government doesn't report that to you.

Not all Bitcoin investors are real investors, some are just hiding and pretending to be Bitcoin real investors, even if they are close to you, it doesn't mean they are clean, many good people want privacy and mixers to prevail but I wonder how when bad people are taking advantage of these features to steal from others.

Scam originated from fiat, a lot of people are scam from fake dating, money washing, fake investment and many more. Read the story of Hushpuooy, you will understand how that guy was able to scam people using fiat and guess what, government never caught him for once not until he started showing off his wealth on Instagram, if that was Bitcoin transaction, people would have know the source and the final place it was spent.

Trust? If we speak about trusting someone when it comes to cryptocurrency, then we might end up trusting the wrong persons just like you did here. You are very lucky not to have been arrested along side him. Because some people would want to drag others along when the fall in this kind of situation. You should be mindful of whom you keep as friend or tell about you being a Bitcoiner.

Actually, when it comes to things like nobody should be trusted, things are happening now. You may think you told the safe person who will take out that information to another place, and you will see that you went and heard the information from another person, and from there, people will start knowing about you, thinking you are a scammer, or some can even conclude that you are a scammer.

And that’s why I'm into telling people that I’m into the cryptocurrency space like this, because the way you see that OP got luck and was not attested now, we never know what will come out of that his friend's mouth and that they may need him to come and talk about it, so it is better that we know who we keep as friends.

As you might have known, there are mixers that have been taken by FBI for a reason which can support money laundering by using mixers.

The U.S government make it seem like it is just a fight against money laundering, but i think they are also attacking BTC and its fungibility through all of this. Some of you think people should not use mixers if they do not have something to hide, but that is not true, everyone deserves privacy if they want it. The government is attacking BTC's privacy solutions because they want to know what everyone is doing with their coins anytime they move it.

That's true that it's not just about money laundering but also wanting to know about what people are doing. You are a bit out of topic because it is about OP's neighbor supporting mixers that's why he supported the use of mixer and explained why he supported mixers and why he would use it since mixers can help with your privacy. The notion that cryptocurrency is same as Bitcoin is wrong. Although, Bitcoin is cryptocurrency, but the point I want to highlight is that there are other crypto currencies apart from Bitcoin that scammers use to keep their stolen funds or launder their funds or create to steal unsuspecting investors funds thinking they are buying a promising token.
While there are those that use crypto to perpetuate crime, there are those for which it is the best thing that has happened to them and am one of them.

With this kind of story as told by OP, I maintain that cryptocurrency would be more regulated in the nearest future with upgrades on privacy and KYC features. This is so as to limit the criminal use of it and before it gets accepted, and am sure anyone who intends to Invest in it these days would have to be prepared to defend the source of income for investment or tell a convincing tale of how they earn their crypto or fill a due diligence form, unless they could have their coins seized or frozen.

Then, we can't blame the government and other people think that Bitcoin helps scammers and fraudsters. We can't blame the authorities for stopping mixers because they feel suspicious about their transactions and the loss of our privacy in the crypto space has gone due to these scammers.

These actions of scammers make crypto in general a tool for scamming, Bitcoin is not excluded. I'm not saying that is good to happen with the mixers but if people use this as a medium of illegal activities, it should be stopped because we are also affected especially if someone knows that you are a Bitcoin holder, they will also assume that you are a scammer.

I think it's human nature at least can't talk about it. but, I like your statement above, normally the secret must still be kept and kept secret, but if it is not confidential, open it wide, especially if BTC assets are already in large quantities.

People who use these privacy tools with bad intentions will find an alternative solution sooner or later.

Just an example, an interesting thread = Crackdown on mixers and privacy tools is ineffective: it may even help criminals by d5000 which means still there are far more better options for the criminals than just using centralized experience.

Let's come to the topic, the government is supposed to chase the criminals, not the way they are using.
