But instead of this many people will considering place like dubai at least you dont feel like in prison you can be around people and feel safe in gated community might be less people and not much space to go around.

If I understand what you are trying to say, gated communities or environment are for security purposes so that intruders won't have a way to attack people easily. Gated communities are really springing up because of the unrest going on in different countries, there are agitations and mob actions. So people need protection to wade off the security problems. However, real security challenge go beyond gating the environment because there are ariel attacks too.

This is not all about making a gated environment that can confine us into a defense zone, what about the scenario whereby we have war happening in proxies, the one that comes in from verbal threats, chemical weapons, mixiles attacks and many more, whereby the people don't have to make a physical confrontation before they can start war, instead they instill on dangerous nuclear weapons that can massively destroy human being, this is to tell you how far they can go in making war beyond what a confined zone could accommodate or limit.

Gated communities are just for preventive measures to reduce pockets of crimes, it's not an entirely security method to forstall a full security protection in a community. If there's heavy security attack, those gates will have little or no effect to stop those attacks. Those gated communities kind of pattern worked in the 18th and the 17th century, but with modern warfare, it is practically impossible for you to stop an attack from an opponent with just barricading your residential area.

There are merits to a gated community scenario in terms of every day crime prevention.
If it is done right with security attackers, thieves will be more inclined to try somewhere
easier because I imagine the vast majority would attack based on opportunities and risk
assesment. If its solely to prevent attack in a time of war its hard to see how a gated
community can withstand a tank attack or artillery but I'm not sure what exactly the OP
is trying to prevent?

Ironically, the thing is that there are many countries and citizens who are already living in enclosed communities, because of the rate of criminality they are suffering. Here in my country it is common to see people willing to gate their community and the houses and the houses of the neighborhood in order to make more difficult for criminals to break in.
Sometimes I have seen in movies and in TV series how people roam with no worries in developed countries barely any walls, and many open gardens. There is no wonder why someone would rather to live there instead in a dangerous place.

Actually, I recall there was a time here in my city when people used to block the way of entrance to their neighborhoods, purposely.

Yes, you are right while it provides a sense of security, it also requires commitment and great harmony of coming together of people to make it work by sharing our challenges and think of solutions, also learn from each other experience and perspectives of life, so that we would not repeat same mistake because in gated communities, there will still be some people who will be creating more violence and making the environment for people to live comfortably. I recently read about broken window theory. If the place has a few filth, people would just dump in more filth. If the place is clean and tidy, everyone would pick even if they dropped their trash by mistake. The best thing to tackle the problem of insecurity and filthiness in Europe and US is to pause the direction they have been taking and rethink about what works. People in Europe are already voting for change and we are likely to see the same in US. They should realize that their leaders plan has failed the public and work to solve the problems.
The population growth rate are low, the resources are plenty. It's not hard to turn things around if the politician have willpower.

I don't think that gated communities are the solution to safety in this present generation, warfares has gone beyond shooting and physical confrontations, it's now more of controlling missiles to hit intended targets. I think that gated communities should be a temporary measure till a lasting solution to the problem is found, because they can be targeted and hit at anytime, because their static position can expose them like sitting ducks. Besides it'll be very expensive to live in a gated community, because food and other essential needs will have limited supply, and it can lead to crisis on the long run.
