Hello guys
I need your opinion
I live in a Mediterranean country with many sunshine days per year (250)
and i have installed a 10kWatt solar panels ( no batteries just panels )
so i am thinking about using the spare kilowatts during the day time to mine something
what would you mine if you were me?
so the idea is to build a rig and mine something 8-10 hours per day not 24/7
people live in the house so a loud a ASCII miner wont be a good idea
i would like to hear your thoughts
Thanks in advance

Why? If you're only running the equipment 8 hours per day it will take 3 time longer to ROI.
Consider the trucking expression: "If the wheels aren't turning, the truck isn't earning".
Same thing here, if you're spending a lot of money on equipment you want it running 24/7.

well the answer is simple . for 8 hours the electricity is FREE
for the remaining of the 24h i pay the electricity like everybody else (since i dont have batteries as i mentioned above)
thats why i want to mine during daytime

You missed the point. What's to be gained by doing it at all if you only run the miners 1/3 of the time?

well yes i get your point but i am thinking instead of having zero benefits from mining let it be at least for the 1/3 of the day
i know it will prolong the ROI but i will get it sooner or later and then it will be free profit

Still on that longer ROI since you will be mining only 1/3 of the day. Have you thought of the mining gear getting outdated before you even meet your ROI or the profitability dropping really so low because of newer more effective gear in the market and also in the networks?

Not discouraging you, just making think about certain outcomes in the long run.

Why don't you just buy a battery and run it 24/7, what's the cons of you running it for 24/7? If you're referring the noise it cause on your house, having another storage room is better for you to do it at least few meters from your house. Well, you can still disregard it if not possible, but remember your profit will be affected knowing mining is not always profitable to some, it's a guessing game.

All good points. Mining is resource depleting with depreciating equipment.
Or don't mine, save the cost of the mining gear, sell excess power to the grid if you can, or just don't overproduce and save some solar equipment cost.

Mining and solar power is just not a good fit as I've said many times before.

-snip-
i would like to hear your thoughts
What happened to your initial plan to sell the excess power to the Electricity Company?
There was a consensus in your year-old thread that it's more profitable than using it for mining.

Link to old thread: MINING WITH SOLAR POWER | WHAT WOULD YOU DO IN MY CASE?

Why don't you just buy a battery and run it 24/7,
That would be expensive.
With batteries, he would need enough capacity to run his miners for 16 hours per night.

Lets consider his original plan of building a theoretical small 500W rig; to run that for 16 hours, he would need 8000Wh which would require 7pcs 100Ah 12v Batteries. (4pcs 100Ah 24v...)
And since batteries must not be drained below their safe capacity (depending on the formulation), he'll be needing more than that to be efficient.
Cheap LeadAcid/Gel batteries will degrade faster than his miner so his options are those expensive LiFePO4 batteries.

And if OP's using a "grid-tied system" which uses the grid as battery, it would require to swap some hardware to convert from grid-tied to off-grid.
Or isolate some solar panels to use off-grid but that would still require another set of hardware for off-grid system, plus the batteries.
