Everything you said is true and does happen, in the end people like that will look for various reasons that they think are reasonable but are not based on real evidence, and those reasons are an exception, or what I mean is they will only look for various reasons that lead to defense instead of accepting the mistake that all this time they have had the wrong approach to gambling as you said.
