If you need an exchange for P2P, Bitget is the worst one that you can go to. Do not be lured with high price. If you are looking for a better centralized P2P exchange, there is one that remains among the common ones that I have told you people before but I will no more mention it because I do not know who is reading this post right now but I believe you people will easily understand.

I have not seen a scam centralized crypto P2P like Bitget. It is the worst that I have tested so far. I intentionally moved $30 worth of coins from Bybit to test how P2P is on Bitget because I have not used it before. I like experimenting. I could have exchanged it around ₦1450 which amounts to ₦43500, but I was paid ₦37500. That is ₦6000 scam.

What happened

The ads are easily changing after you clicked on it. These are examples:

I can not be so stupid to go for that low prices but there was an ads that it did not warn me but sold at ₦1250. The ads was at ₦1500 when I clicked on it as I was going from higher rates to lower rates, but no warning than the order has been created. Before I know, the buyer has sent me the money and I lost ₦6000.

If not because of that, I wanted to try ₦1450 and slightly lower prices but the coin I was using for the testing has been sold for naira in a way that I do not like. I got no coins there again. But I think even other ads will be like that. Bitget is a scam centralized exchange for P2P. Tell people to avoid the exchange. It is full of scammers if it is crypto/naira P2P.

Obviously a scam.... Tongue
Ads are meant to be static not dynamic, even if it will be dynamic then they have to prompt it and once clicked there shouldn't be a change in value of what  that has been  clicked initially.
NGL  Grin they really suck for that Tongue
It isn't  their fault  though,  government  did went after the real ones and now the fake ones are growing wings too scamming users and getting  away with it....

My first experience was with Kucoin, (mean while no one ever had the issue while using Binance) and when it happened, I nearly fell victim but I was very quick to forfeit the P2P sell order. I don't find comfort using Bitget, seems like I do have an unverified account with them but I did some research which made me stoped the verification process.

This is pure manipulation, see what our government are causing by just placing P2P restrictions on the most reputable exchanges and now we are getting scammed by this inferior exchanges. In this period, it's best we better be careful on what exchanges we use, scammers are roaming and would use this as an opportunity.

Sometimes the ad may be changed but it supposed to be of very little difference and it should not be common. Like out of 10 to 20 ads, you may notice only 1 ad changed and you will have to look for other ads and not that one again because you will not be able to proceed with the offer, but not like it is on Bitget that every ads are changing and of huge rate difference. The exchange is supposed to be blamed for that for having scam algorithm in P2P rate.

You know it is always like this with Nigerian things if you are not careful before clicking on sell and the worst thing is that you won't know when the price will automatically changed, I think I experienced similar thing on Bybit but the buyer didn't send the payment and I tried to click again the system automatically warned me that the order price has been changed.
What happened is that Bybit is more reliable than Biget although I have never traded there before, have been hearing about it and wanted to start using it before I came across this news and it sadden my heart to see that few p2p exchanges that support NGN aren't worth trustworthy especially this said Bitget exchange.

I'm dedicated to learn by what has happened to other to be accounted an experienced although I'm still one kind who love experiments as that but I don't have such amount of fund in my wallet to play around with such.
I've got the Bitget Wallet app and few on trends stored in my device but there have been lot of them I haven't made use of. The frustration that the government has caused crypto enthusiasts with the centralized exchange has really staged every crypto enthusiasts to panics and potential losses of funds because investors at point of pressure to sell trade their coins to naira for emergency used don't even consider all those aspects of exchanges taking advantages of them just as the so Bitget is as verified.

At first of reading the thread I thouht the price changes was going to be a cause of price fluctuations and the validation of when the transaction was confirmed. Not knowing it has been an obvious program that a specific percentage would be dedicated from your expected amount to receive. That's an extortion of a criminal acts. For goodness sake where does the so dedicated percent goes and why's it not being added to the receivers payment?

Bitget is a scam centralized exchange for P2P. Tell people to avoid the exchange. It is full of scammers if it is crypto/naira P2P.
I knew this kind of thing was going to happen the moment the federal government started attacking all the major exchanges thereby cursing people to become desperate in search of alternative that will aid them bypass all these restrictions that's affecting these major exchange.

It's really sad that these scammers don't want to channel there energy in the right direction and try to build the right trust that will see them to becoming a reputable exchange medium that would be useful at this critical stage. What they don't know is that by striving to becoming a reputable exchange at this time when all this major exchanges isn't functional in Nigeria, they would have been able to gain a large audience of Nigeria overtime and before time goes too fast, th y should have been enjoyed the previledges that binance was enjoying as a primary exchange in Nigeria.

I hate scammers. Thank you for the heads-up Charles.

I used to see these types of ads where the price is above the current exchange. But Kucoin will always give you a notification warning if you want to go ahead and initiate the transaction. The warning is usually something like, "The price has been updated". After which, you see the real price. I am really surprised that Bitget doesn't have something like this.

Is it possible to bring this to the notice of the operators. Like making a complaint via their customer agents and see what they say?

This type of scam happens on all centralized exchange P2P platforms. No centralized exchange is 100% safe. We should always be careful when making use of centralized exchange P2P trade, and we should also avoid clicking on ads with higher buying orders because they are possible to scam us with our hard-earned money. Anytime we open an ad, we should always refresh the price to know if the price is still the same as what the buyer placed on the ad. We should always trade with ads with a high number of trades and a good percentage, such as 97% and above, and they should have the same buying price as other buyers to avoid this type of scam in P2P trade.

the journey so far of the naira/USDT P2P ban by crypto exchange.

From the Binance P2P ban, many Nigerians pushed themselves to the Kucoin P2P trade, Kucoin later banned their P2P trade for Nigerians. Now, we are faced with the option of using Bybit or Bitget for our P2P trades, to encounter another level of scams from ads we don't know of "how they operate".

Charles-Tim thanks for bringing this, to our notice for those of us who are yet to open an account or trade with the Bitget. At least we are to stay off from their P2P trade completely and look for a better crypto exchange that doesn't have many scams on their P2P trades.

Your experience with Bitget P2P is an eye-opener for us. It won't be wise if we should give them a try. For me, I am avoiding them completely

This topic is similar to the one raised by rachael9385 in this post with the only difference being that her experience was in Kucoin whereas yours is in Bitget. I think what happened here is that they publish the ads with good offers but during execution, the offers are adjusted. It is a deliberate attempt to scam people because those who did not calculated what they are expected to get will easily continue with the transaction and get under paid.

If you need an exchange for P2P, Bitget is the worst one that you can go to. Do not be lured with high price. I have had the urge to open account in Bitget but somehow I end up not continuing. Perhaps it is because I had doubt about their reputation even though there was no reason to justify that. It's just a shame what the Nigerian government is making their citizens go through just because they want to control inflation even when the percentage of the citizens using cryptocurrency is still low but rapidly growing.

It's just sad to see an exchange like Bitget of which launched their operation not too long ago, be caught in such awful act of scammer traders. I would not be shocked still because they would have to pay some fine someday when they get investigated by the SEC and get dragged to court for cases ranging from money laundering to scam trading to fraud and the likes because they are threading the path and hence even traders should be wary of them inorder not to lose their funds after feeling that what they confirmed to receive is what they are getting in the end.

I guess the merchant you traded with was using Floating rate. There are two types of rate when placing an add on any exchange 'Floating rate and Fixed rate' and you were supposed to see a pop message before placing the order which give you the window to decide either to continue with the merchant or not and it's obviously captured in your screenshot with the option to cancel. I have experienced this on a good number of exchanges and I don't see it as scam. It's a good thing you shared cos it has provided an opportunity to enlighten users further.

Oh, you may need to be more careful next time. I almost experienced same thing on Bybit when I traded my NotCoin then to sell USDT to NGN on P2P.  When you click to trade, the price is reviewed or updated to latest price.. you shouldn't have proceeded with the trade. You should have checked another trader. That's what I did. Carefulness is needed when making transactions. So clearly what you did was.. you saw a price, you click to trade, you got notifications that price was updated if you want to proceed and you proceeded without caution.

It's a sad experience but it happens almost in all of the CEX I have used for p2p

I have experienced this on a good number of exchanges and I don't see it as scam.
Do you have a Bitget account and have tried crypto/naira P2P there? I have used over 10 exchanges just for P2P before. Go to Bitget and understand what I am talking about than to disagree with my what I said about Bitget. The exchange is full of scamming ads as a result of poor rate algorithm the exchange is using. I have seen people that used floating rate on other exchanges like Binance, Bitget etc cetera. If the price changes, the exchange will take you to the exchange P2P page to select another offer.

I dont like being drawn to arguement like this but will freely tell you that I have been using their p2p for quite some time and more often after Binance removed NGN. Like i said in my earlier response " there is usually a pop up message that gives you a window to cancel or continue with the order", I am not sure if saw that pop message but that's how it has been and i think it's similar to that of Binance when NGN p2p was still active.

Go and read the OP before posting. I think you only read the title. What you are saying is clearly seen on the images I posted above. I said I was testing it and going from higher to lower USD/NGN rate until I was unable to see the change of the rate. You do not need to defend what is wrong. If you are truly using Binance and other P2P exchanges, they will not allow you to go for the ads that the rate has been changed but to check for other ads. If you like, tell people that you like to use Bitget and let them be selling at low price.

This was your comment that prompted my response bro

Ya, the images you shared were the pop messages that give you the window to continue or cancel yet you said you weren't warned and if you read my first reply; I acknowledged your screenshot highliting the option to cancel. I geuss the problem here is that you weren't vigilant enough to cancel your order before the merchant was signaled to pay you. Perhaps you also need to re-read my first reply and for the records i said it was similar to Binance and not the same.
