Nigeria put pressure in the first half but they lost because they did failed to take their chances . They froze from the moment Brazil started looking better. I didn’t have my hopes up for the Super Eagles so I can’t say I am disappointed with the results. I’m actually impresssed with how they played today despite the 1 nil loss. Looking at the stats Nigeria were the better side in the match. If they can play like they did in the last 15mins of tonight’s game, I believe they will be able to fare better against other teams in the group.

I will probably just watch the highlights to the match later tonight, I really was looking forward to watching how the Super Falcons would fare against the Brazilian side, too bad they're starting the group stage with a loss, it's going to be difficult to get through to the next stage, but I'm sure the Falcons will never go down without a good fight, and looking at the scoreline, I guess they must have played well enough to earn at least a draw which would been a good result to get from a match against Brazil.

In the latest female FIFA ranking Brazil occupies the ninth position while the Nigerian super falcons are ranked thirty-sixth. From the reviews, I think the Nigerian female team proved themselves to be a worthy participant in the tournament. But in such a competition performance without points will lead to an early exit. The Brazilian side didn't dominate the games as favourites but they have the important three points. Spain is currently topping group C after winning Japan by one goal to nothing. Nigerian fans will have to be worried because they would have to fight for a place by winning both Spain and Japan. Spain is ranked number one, while Japan occupies the seventh position. The Super Falcons have a lot of work if they want to remain in the tournament more than in the group stage.

I've been watching the warm up games for the US Mens basketball team.  They sure have had some tight games that you would expect otherwise would have been blowouts.  I still think that since these games were exhibition games, and not actual games, that the US teams wasn't playing as hard as they actually would otherwise, so I'm not that worried about them (as a US citizen) but I would say there is a real chance of them struggling if they don't get on the same page as each other asap.

Embarrassing scenes from Argentina vs Morocco match, Morocco fans entered the pitch and they thrown bottles on players of Argentina, than after one hour VAR decided that goal was offside and result was changed from 2:2 to 1:2  
Messi was not happy about this decision and he event commented about this shameful decision.

Man, VAR doesn’t lie. That call was pretty good and Morocco deserved that win. That was really nice upset in the first day match of the Mend Paris football Olympics. Argentina was also given another chance to make it a draw but it fell short. (+15 mins)

I never thought it would end up like that—going from 0-2 to 2-2. It reminds me of France’s comeback in the 2022 World Cup against Argentina, although France ended up losing in penalties. This time, Argentina lose to Morroco Lol.

Rather than Canada I might bet some on France honestly as a surprise bet. Nothing is certain in sports despite big favourites you know. I would love to watch USA get a nice upset here.

It's not a surprised since the team is loaded with NBA players, like Lebron and Steph Curry. They are the defending champions and hasn't lost in the last 4 Olympics. And with that way they show their strengths in the exhibition games and winning it, yeah, they are the favorite.

They are the host city so expect them to go for the medal as well. But as what the media says, everyone is competing for the Silver medal. For Canada, during that time, they don't have much of a NBA line up team. But in this year's Olympics, they are solid with Jamal Murray, SGA, Dillon Brooks, RJ Barrett. So it's like a total overhaul from 2020 line up.

US has to be favored like that but in terms of betting you're right it's worth a punt on one of these other teams.  Any day one of these teams can upset the US.  If I had to pick it would be the Canadian team but France isn't a bad bet at 15-1 either.  Laying off betting Olympic basketball in the beginning until I see some of these teams play.

I enjoy the athletics the most but it’s good to watch live sports every day throughout the Olympics.

I like watching the football obviously but I got engrossed in the cycling and rowing for some reason in the last games, the sailing is fascinating too.

I love football because I once had the ambition of playing professional football, although I ditched this idea when I sustained serious injury during high school football competition, which got me scared  . Apart from football, I love swimming, table tennis and athletics in general.

I wonder who will come out on top in the medals table, my guess is the USA or China as usual.

There are many information resources that reveal how harsh trainings in China on youth athletes and their government, sport ministry think that gaining medals, high rank in Olympics will show their national power and they are ready to do many unacceptable ways to achieve sports results for their political ambition.

The USA in contrast, has better approach for sports athletes and they don't aim at medal at any cost. Humanitarian principles to follow are more important than how many medals they have in Olympics. China can get a second rank or first rank but if we assess a national performance in Olympics, beyond total medals, the USA is better than China.

Yes, but you have to understand that their form of government is very different and the mentality of people as well. We have billions of Chinese, and it's going to be a privilege to be train at a young age to become future Olympians. So it is really harsh as kids as young as 4 started to train in let's say gymnastics and so when they are 12, they started to compete at a high level and bring honor to their country.

Of course, they also aim for medal and golds, but the approach is very different, trainings as well specially if they are training kids to start win. They are very careful with them and perhaps they are always accompanied by their parents. As opposed to the Chinese wherein their parents are the one pushing their kids to train and then they will faded away as the government will completely take care of the kids and train them very hard to perfection.

I'm not sure if that's a real thing but most of the countries that are participating Olympics for all the sports that they are qualified aim for those medals at any cost that they can.

And that's why they're investing in the programs to their athletes for every sports that they can qualify with.

I think 1nil is not a bad result because I was expecting Brazil to win by a bigger goal margin. This was my mindset before watching the game. Brazil hosted the Olympic Games in 2016. Brazil, is known as a country with very high crime rate. But the organizers cracked down heavily on organized crime before the event and made sure that the Games was conducted without any untoward incident. What makes Paris 2024 different is that even the organizers and the government refused to acknowledge the crime issue, and refused to do anything about it. It is just shameless behavior from the part of the organizers. I just want IOC to blacklist France from hosting anymore editions in the future.

The Olympics is a very busy sports agenda. There are matches every day and it lasts quite a long time. There are also a lot of participants and sports that are competed. But I am sure the host (France) must have prepared well. Regarding several incidents circulating in the media, we cannot blame France as the host who will certainly have quite a lot of difficulties with security. Some parties may want to take advantage of the current Olympic momentum to launch several issues that could affect the success of the Olympics.

The Olympics opening ceremony is about to start soon and I really excited. France is a beautiful country and they have already set new records with the number of tickets sold and they still have tickets remaining.

Super athletes like Simone Biles, Katie Ledecky etc will be vying for more gold medals in the prestigious competition. Will miss GOATs like Phelps, Bolt etc though.

What a tight group that the falcons find themselves in and from FIFA ranking it shows that Nigeria is the weak team in their group and I will not be surprised if Nigeria exits the competition from the group stage because they need to fight very hard to survive.

There will always be scumbags willing to take advantage of unsuspecting visitors and
events like this presents more opportunities for them, which is very unfortunate.


Opening ceremony has started. Being in Ireland we have massive hopes for medals
at these games, we have never had as many athletes competing, 133! with so
many potential medal wins, all we need now is delivery!


So far the ceremony has been absolutely amazing, brilliant idea to take the
ceremony out of a stadium and onto the streets of Paris.
