Global South, Global East, BRICS and the future

I heard from second sources about a recent chat by Borrel (EU top diplomat) speaking about China, Ruzzia, BRICS,...

He was speaking about how the world has changed. The economy of Europe and US is just a fraction of what it used to be compared to the whole world economy, the "Global East" led by China and Ruzzia is drifting to absolutism (in the shape of Presidents, but effectively similar to Kings and Emperors).

The Global South is the economic battleground between the larger powers and most of these countries simply want to be left alone without taking sides.

BRICS are countries that are (except Ruzzia) growing their economies rapidly, but they have many internal imbalances and have trades with US, Europe, Japan, etc... that exceed their mutual interests. It is more of an attempt by China to create a Remimbi sphere of influence, but it is unlikely to deliver that result.

In the global economic environment, no country is irreplaceable. We can argue now that some BRICS nations might not survive without major trade partners like the US and Europe but this might not be the case. The trade imbalance can be balanced if they seek new partners. Before now China was a major trade partner with the US until Donald Trump's anti-China policies. Today China have developed ties with other nations and is recovering from the unfriendly US policies. Underestimating the potential of the BRICS countries is a blunder because they can change the global economic balance.  Just like the US and its major allies are leaders of the Western bloc, BRICS nations will also need leaders, and China and Russia deserve the position. It doesn't matter to me the intention of China, my position is that the dollar needs a strong competitor.

There are others which definitely want to take sides, because it is very convenient for them to do so, specially countries which are seeking to perpetuate their regimes. Venezuela is a good example, you know. Here the government does not want to be left alone at all, these guys in power need the backing to keep the country going, they open our arms to China, Russia and even India, the president talks against imperialism (specifically against American imperialism) but at the same time they do not care to embrace the new Chinese and Russian empire.  

In my opinion, the BRICS is very unlikely to deliver on the promises of dethroning the USD and moving the balance of the global power from the west to the east. India and China have very serious political and territorial disputes and Russian economical situation is quite neglectable when compared to the United States and China. I could even dare to say India has more chances on becoming a superpower than Russia.

You can call him clown, but he is certainly someone who is not supposed to be under estimated in any way, shape or form, in my opinion. I do not like him either as a leader or a politician, but we cannot deny that even if he is a clown, then he is a very good and clever clown who has managed to hold onto power for a long time and seems to stay there, has much time as he is alive.
Also, Third world countries have more motivations to joining the alliance of BRICS than just being  "friends of Putin", it is also about being able to access to the Chinese market and access to the very cheap labor force and products which come from China, the Russian market is neglectable when compared to the Chinese one, and there are indeed Third world countries who would feel pretty much glad to get credits and products from china, thanks to the simple fact of belonging to the BRICS.

It would then depend on the political views of the president of that third world country, align with the political views of China, India and Russia.

To be honest, he looked much more "smart" before what is happening in Ukraine. As of now, he seems like he has painted himself into the corner of a room.

We are assuming that everything that Putin and the Ruzzian army do is a "smart move" or at least "well calculated" or with "hidden intentions"... it simply may sometimes be really stupid - like the offensive in Kharkiv direction.

On Venezuela, my guess is that the current regime would rather be left alone since they have the US looking unkindly at them with all the Guaido thing. I guess animosity has only stopped for a while, while they short out the issues with oil related to Ruzzia and the OPEC+ getting a dollar here and there in the chaos. I am guessing the citizens at least a large part of it would welcome some type of help but that comes with lots of strings attached.

Perhaps he is just committing some mistakes and some people over-analyze what is going on, in order to claim he is still pretty much in control of all the situations going on in his personal war against the people of Ukraine. Still, I wonder how brainwashed the people of Russia actually is in order from many of them to accept as a unquestionable truth everything which goes out the Kremlin.

By the way,  the situation in Venezuela is weirder and more complex than many people abroad could assume, we have suffered from the consequences of a couple of factions battling one another for the power of the presidency and yet, the United States does not care much about that man you mentioned, he played a role and now it seems Washington is going for a different strategy to deal with what is happening here.

Russia is very brainwashed, I encounter this every day and sometimes I don’t even have the strength to argue with such people. The problem is that it is not only the government that is to blame for what is happening, but the people themselves, who elected this government and who now tolerate it, because after all, not everyone is happy with Putin’s rule.

I am going to assume you are from Russia, then.
I have always had the impression an important percentage of the population in Russia is not happy with the rule of Vladimir Putin, in mind it is about 30-40%, but that is a raw estimate I get from the little geopolitical news I read some now and then. I would be interesting if you elaborated and gave us your impression on the percentage of people who genuinely like the government of Putin and what kind of ideas they harbor. Are they as anti-western was Putin seems to be or they do not believe completely the political speech of Putin and instead of that, they support him because other reasons, for example, how close Putin to the Russian Church is.

Also, I recall a survey which was done to a sample of the Russian population and they seem to be pretty much seeking to something similar to the Soviet Union, I am not sure if the youngest generation also has that Soviet dream of the cold war.
